Grand Californian Super Thread

That was me. This is what the layout looked like yesterday. I didn't check to see if they moved the security that was by Starbucks over to this area or if that security is also available as needed.

Thank you very much for sharing this. I'm hoping this sticks around, although it does look a little bit haphazard - that entryway was definitely not designed for this. But I hope it represents a recognition that the security wait at that entrance was really below standards for guest expectations at a super premium hotel experience like GCH is supposed to be. Looking forward to trying it out in two weeks!

This weekend is Dapper Days so the hotel is probably expecting larger crowds.

@LKing Any changes to Pixar or DLH entrances? (if you happen to go that way at all)
I didn't walk that way. We didn't arrive until late afternoon. It was raining so we took the tram, did some browsing/shopping in DTD, then cut through GCH to enter DCA.

It was a light rain. Enough to annoy you, but barely enough to leave a small puddle. When it started, there was a mass exodus out of the parks. The stores and DTD were packed. DCA was really nice.

I'll be there next weekend. If we get a VQ for Tiana's, I'll need to go straight to the park. If not, I'll try to check out the other hotels.

I was bummed to see a post on a GCH Facebook group suggesting that the Holiday gingerbread house for the lobby will not be installed until Nov. 22. :( Our trip was scheduled with an understanding that Holidays at DL started on Nov. 15, so we'll miss that unfortunately.
I thought so too.?

I think the Holidays do start on Nov. 15, yes, but it seems like "full" Holidays aren't actually going to be until later. Like the gingerbread house, or the tea-time with Santa Claus event - as a couple of examples.
Good to know that I remember correctly, it’s just a few things not up to speed when it starts.

If you split your stay between two on-property hotels, will they move your luggage for you?

I had always had the understanding that holidays at the GCH started after Thanksgiving. That their tree and decor went up a bit later than in the parks.

When we have stayed there at the beginning of the holiday season, they told us that they don't fully decorate until closer-to or after Thanksgiving. We did Dapper Day weekend one year and I was disappointed that the tree was not up in the lobby, but then on our last morning we woke up and it was there!

We were there for the first week of the holidays last year, the tree was up and they were building the gingerbread house during that time. They were also selling the Mickey gingerbread cookies already. GCH was definitely in the process of being decorated for the holidays by then.

Is there a place to buy yogurt at the GCH? The DL website description of Acorn Gifts just vaguely mentions “food.”
