Booked this resort through Sunterra looks peaceful and relaxing does anyone have any first hand details that would help put my mind at rest?? DH loves to fish and this resort is on a lake that has fishing my question is how is the lake?? I am sure that my husband wouldn't care but I was wondering if any one has seen any aligators in the lake? Thanks for any info you could give :grouphug:

hi, we actually toured this resort as part of a time share deal a few years ago...Very nice, kind of small, but very luxurious units...lots of tile in the bathrooms, fancy showers, and as I recall a lock off feature so you could have a one bedroom instead of a 3 bedroom or two bedroom unit....
I would be surprised if Lake Bryan has alligators, as it really in right in the middle of a very populated area just south and east of DisneyWorld.

I would get to Disney by taking Apopka Vineland Road north to the Disney Entrance at Lake Buena Vista. It comes in on the far east side of Disney by Disney Marketplace...Also lots of great places to eat in Lake Buena Vista straight across from the Disney Entrance...The Crab house and Kobe's Japanese are two of the best in my opinion...

Take care and good luck...I think you will be very pleased at the location...Ted

I read somehwere there are over a million alligators in Florida, and they are in every body of water big enough to hold them. So, there probably are alligators in Lake Bryan.

Once in 2001 and in November, 2005. In November, we rented paddle boats and cayaks and went out on the lake. We went over to the far end of the lake, but did not see any alligators. The lake is nice though, I am sure fishing on the lake would be great.

Even thought we did not see any, I would bet threre are alligators in the lake somewhere. They do have warnings out by the lake. As a previous poster said, there are so many gators in Florida - odds are some life in Lake Bryan.

Have a wonderful vacation. It is a very nice, smaller resort and the units and staff are great!

We loved staying here. We even ended up getting stuck here in a hurricane and felt that the staff did a great job during that emergency. The amenities are great and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

We stayed at a 3 bedroom the first week of Oct. The resort looks just like the pictures posted above. The unit was really nice and roomy, although wear and tear is showing on the furniture. There is a beach (nonswimmable) area with hammocks and beach chairs. Ducks hang out at the beach and the small pond. If you get back early there is covered parking under the buildings.

Thank you for the pictures it loooks great! Does this resort get really crowded? I know I am going in Feb. and it is crowded everywhere, but is the resort big? I can not wait I need to get away!! :cloud9:

I just returned yesterday from this resort. It was sold out this weekend, but it did not really seem to make a difference. It was very relaxing. The grounds are beautiful, you will enjoy!

thank you WDWAMY, I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions. I have read some good and some not so good reveiws about Grand Beach. How were the rooms some say they are showing age are they?? How are the pools ?? Did you see anybody fishing in the lake?? I am sorry I have so many questions I really don't like going some place and not knowing what to expect. If you could give me any answers that would be a load off my mind. :hourglass :surfweb:

Loved it. Quiet, nice pool. Check out took FOREVER, though. Don't cut it close. The tile floors in the kitchen were rough...had to wear socks.

Would stay there in a heartbeat again. Those are the nitpicks!

HI all,

I'm interested in this resort, but can't find a per nite price below $189. Is this the best I can do?

The rooms are beginning to show age, but everything I saw was cosmetic in nature. For example, the cabinets in the kitchen were scratched, the knob on one of the dressers came off, etc. They are also in the process of redoing these rooms. It looked to me like they are renovating one building at a time. We stayed in building 5 and there were workers in building 7.

There are two pools. One is located behind the checkin building and the other is on the far end of the property towards 535. They seemed to be identical in size and each had a separate wading/kiddie pool and hot tub. There are no slides or special theming but my boys enjoyed them nontheless.

As for the lake, it is gorgeous. The resort rents kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats. If you want to rent a regular boat, there is a marina directly across the lake from the resort. It is my understanding that the concierge desk will arrange for the marina to pick you up by boat from the resort and take you to the marina for boat rentals. I did notice people out on the lake fishing from boats. However, I'm not sure if they were Grand Beach guests.

Please let me know if you have anymore questions. It is a very beautiful resort and I'm sure you will enjoy it. We normally stay at Cypress Pointe and we've also stayed at Vistana. But this one made me feel like I was truly on vacation. I think it's the lake!

I don't know when your trip dates, but I generally find the best cash rates on hotelkingdom's website. If you are willing to rent through an owner, I have seen ads on tug's website. Not sure if they're in line with hotelkingdom however.

Good luck!

Thanks, amy

We were looking at going end of April/first week of May.
