gradtchr's back on track (comments welcome)

You are doing great on your working out, congrats for meeting your halfway point!

Your food intake looks great too. Ice cream once in a while won't kill you - it's when you eat it every day that's bad...

I bought new shoes (again) tonight hopefully these will be better. The salesguy actually talked to me and seemed to have a clue. It was great the one i talked to before was pushing the expensive shoes on me but this guy was asking a million questions and listening to my answers. I told him what Road Runner Sports had recommended for my foot issues (I'm flat footed 100%) and he was ticked that one of his coworkers had convinced me to buy what I bought because in his words there's no way in beep that those would work for you. He agreed with what RRS had said but they didn't sell that particular type of shoe but they had another type in the same brand that he said would be good. I tried them on and there was instant comfort so I am now hooked. The super cool thing is that he pulled the pair from the clearance shelves so I got a 120 dollar pair of shoes for 40 bucks. He said if they didn't work to come back and talk to him and he would take care of it. I am so happy!!!! I can't wait until I get to try them out, hopefully tomorrow.

I hope to catch up with everyone tomorrow!!!!

That's great that the shoe guy was so helpful. You might want to write a little note to the manager to let him know what a good job he did. People don't do that enough these days!

Must be nice to only have to work 2 days next week! At least I only have to work 3 - I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving!!!

You are doing great, keep it up! :cheer2:

Looks like you are doing well on your food choices. Hope you have a great rest of the week and keep up the good work!!!!

Take care
Keep on

My challenges for the weekend are excercise related, I am going to be a gym rat this weekend. I want to get as much workout in as possible before the turkey day eating. I've got a plan I just need to stick to it. I am about 1000 minutes from my November challenge and I am determined to get there so I'll be a gym rat till I do. Next week there are 4 days that working out will be hard so I need to push it for the days that I can.

Tomorrow will be another workout day for me I WILL make my goal I will make my goal I will make my goal!! I can and will do this!!! He he he he what just dawned on me is originally on Oct 23 I set a 6000 minute goal for Christmas and had a goal set that I would reach 3000 minutes by Thanksgiving. I'm 40 minutes from that goal. On November 1 I set a goal of 3000 minutes for the month and I'm 995 minutes away from that one. What a difference a week makes. This will be a challenge to get 995 minutes in 11 days but I can do it, I know I can. Ok I'm trying to convince myself of this. :cheer2:

I was wrong yesterday about the scale and it took DH to notice when i was talking about what I weighed in at last night after typing everything up. I was like I'm at 149.5 I've lost a pound and a half since the start of November and he looked at me and said ok but when you started the challenge you were at 152. Which I was and had written down but had decided to block that out of my mind apparently so anyway I am now at 149.5 I have lost 2.5 pounds since the start of November and I am happy. I worked out for 4 hours today (man was it fun, actually some of it was other parts weren't) and I put my November excercise challenge back into reach. I've got a plan for the week and I am going to make it to my goal!!!!

Eating today was:
b-SLEEP
s-water during my first hour of working out
l-1.5 tacos al carbon and 1 serving mexican rice
s-none
d-snack foods
3 hours of workout ddr, walking, anda full hour of stretching now that was the best!!!
s-more snack food

Then tonight being in the frame of mind wow I've actually seen the scale move down I tried on the dress that I wore in October that got my tail end in gear and I'm happy to report it's bigger on me now than it was two months ago. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Beth! :earseek:

Four hours of exercise?!?!? That is amazing! ::yes:: Where do you find the energy? Do you exercise all at once or do you do it in intervals? I need to get caught up on my exercise challenge and any tips you can give would be very helpful! :goodvibes You are doing a GREAT job! :cheer2:

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

Congrats on trying on that dress and how it fits now!!! That is great. I have had that mistake with watching how many pounds I've lost two. Twice now I have either written down more than I lost or not enough. When I sit and tally it up and I'm off I'm like - OH NO!!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Keep on
Chris

Yeah I made it back to town. I didn't kill myself over Thanksgiving with eating although that was difficult, and I got in excercise everyday. DH and I took two hour long walks down a deserted countryroad and then I did callanetics type stretches at night. Was a wonderful trip. His family is so sweet! I missed being with my parents though. Now to figure out CHristmas when we have to travel the state to see everybody. Oh and the eating involved there. ;)

Today is a new day and I am back on track. I have my clothes for the gym after work and my goal already set in place to achieve there (120 minutes) I am ready for the eating to go back to normal and ready to face the new week.

Plans for the day:

s-granola bar
l-crab cake sandwich
s-body for life

I just saw this question sorry I hadn't answered before. I usually spread my workouts over the entire day. Wake up and do a WATP or something for at least 30 minutes-helps me wake up and improves the day although I much prefer sleeping in. :) Then at lunch I go and walk for an hour after eating. Then at night I'll hit the gym and depending on my goal depends on how long I stay. Tonight I have to work out for 2 hours if I'm going to hit my goal so I have it figured out what I am going to do and how long I will do it for. Big cardio night for me. YEAH!!!! So that's what I do, the spurts during the day help keep me going and force me to get away from my desk which I need.

I'm in a reflective thinking mood today over the finale of Biggest Loser. I have watched that show with extreme interest the past few weeks and rooted people on and grumbled as some were voted off. Last night when everyone came back and I saw how great they all looked and how most had changed since they left the ranch I started wondering why I wasn't accomplishing success in my own journey. I really pondered on what they had done and what they were doing and what the differences were. Ok besides the fact they had a personal trainer, and focused diets. I realzed they each had a determination and a drive that was helping them to forge on through the hard times and the easy times. They were focused on their goal and for many nothing would stand in their way of getting there. They always pushed on when it hurt and went just that little bit extra even when you could tell they wanted to keel over and die. That's what I have not been doing in my own personal journey. I set high time goals for myself which I achieve but when I start to feel tired for the day I quit or take the resistance back a step so that it's easy again, and not a challenge. Big huge realization for me.

I went to the gym tonight to push that extra little bit and to challenge myself just a little bit more, and yes to reach my November challenge (which I did) and was upstairs on the running track doing a warm up walk when I noticed a guy on the side stretching. He had the same look of determination and drive that I had seen on the contestants of the biggest loser. When he had stretched he stood up and came running onto the track. He was running the slowest pace possible to still be considered running but he was pushing on. His determination did not break when there were those who infuriate me laughing at him and calling him names and making incredibly rude comments (yes I did say something to them but it made no difference) I left the track before I did something I would not regret but that would get me in trouble and went downstairs to the treadmill. In the window I watched this guy push on. He ran 3/8ths of a mile before he walked and then he walked several before he moved downstairs to the weight room. When he came downstairs he came over to where I was and told me thank you for standing up for him and I said no problem and we laughed at how stupid those people were. He then moved on to weights but came back and asked if I knew how to use one of the weight machines that this was his first time ever at the gym that he had watched the biggest loser and was inspired by Pete and what he had done that he realized he was just as capable of doing the same and that he was not going to give up. Whether he will or not time will tell and that is not my story mine is one that I have struggled with for some time but one that I actually feel at peace with because I know that deep within I have the focus and determination to lose these last 10-15 pounds and that if I crank my discomfort level up some I will see the results.

So today was my day of realization I can do this, and I believe I can,and I will push on when I first want to quit. I did that tonight and I walk/jogged 2.5 miles in 35 minutes. So beginning today I am going to set one goal for myself and when I get to that goal I am going to push just a little bit more and keep doing that until I can look back on the road I have traveled and know that I have done my best and that I have achieved my ultimate goal of good health

My day was good but not good if that makes sense. I was focused and determined but sometimes life hands us curveballs. DH got an IM from his mom and told him that his dad was in the hospital and had been since Wednesday. Needless to say the evening was not so good. We went out to eat, neither of us wanted to cook. :(

b-denver omelette w/eggbeaters
s-slimfast
l-ham and cheese wrap
40 min walk
s-apple and string cheese
d-I didn't do bad at all!! Went to Texas Roadhouse and got the veggie plate w/ 1 cup of chili (I ate half) 2 steamed veggies w/ no butter, 1 baked potato and I didn't eat all of that either.
s-4 gingersnaps

I didn't get the workout I wanted in but that's ok my hubby needed me a lot more. If you pray please keep us in your prayers. There are a lot of potentials of what it could be and none are good.

Oh Beth,

You, your DH, and his entire family will be in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug: Please be sure and take good care of you.
