Grad Night?

We are planning a trip for May 2005. We haven't decide which week in May we will be going. I am seeing Grad night pop up here and there. What is it? Is it always the first weekend in May? How much impact does it have on all the rest of the parks?

Grad Nite is a "hard ticket" event, like MVMCP and MNSSHP. It's for graduating seniors only, and it takes place at MK. It won't really affect MK crowds during the day, since the event happens after the park closes. However, MK will close earlier than normal on Grad Nites, although other parks may stay open a bit later to compensate.

They are closing MK at 7pm on our 1st 2 days- 4/23 and 4/24 for Grad night. I'm bummed because I had planned these 2 days in MK- character meals and all- before the schedule was released. We planned on seeing the MK fireworks/parade on those nights.
Try and call them early to see when they are holding these nights- to avoid this problem. If I had known prior to making Cindys ressies and stuff- I would have planned my trip much differently.

We are using our time share. We want to get our name on the waiting list as soon as we can in order to have a better chance of getting the resort we want. I am trying to figure out which week end to include. It looks like Mother's Day weekend might be the better choice.

My2girls66- we made the same mistake. I booked breakfast on the 24th not realizing it was grad night. In the end though we just made AK our park for Sunday and when we are done there we will head back to MK for wishes.

In past years, Grad Night has been for several weekends, and I thought I read that it's also for the first Friday and Saturday nights in May --- but not sure. That's been our experience in the past.

It dosen't have to much affect on any of the parks during the day except that MK closes early on those nights. Pleasure Island is also closed late afternoon to give the groups another option. PI does re-open later for the public but I am not sure of the times.

Below is information on 04 Grad nites and with a little 'google' you could probably find out the 03 nights and get an idea as to when 05 nights may be -

Grad Nights are usually the last two weekends in April and the first weekend in May on Friday and Saturday nights.

This year, they appear to be two weekends, not three - April 23, 24, 30 and May 1.

The MK will close a bit earlier on those nights and nighttime parades may be moved to weekdays if they're only being performed on Saturdays. PI opened later to the public at 9 PM on these nights.
