I know that DCP says it really depends on your school, but what are your personal experiences with GPA? I have put off my application until the spring 2012 apps because I'm not confident in my GPA.

Also, along what lines do previous work experience matter? I am a nanny now and I worked at a daycare for a while, but its not a ton of experience. Does this matter a lot or is more attitude & potential?

You just have to be in good academic standing with your school, that's what is checked. As long as your good, they will not check/care about the specific number (both for CPs and PIs... as a matter of fact for my PI they didn't even check).

If you are applying for the DCP previous experience is not as important as your attitude during the interview. I worked with CPs that had tons of experience and CPs that the program was their first "real" job.

If you are over 2.20 GPA you are good to go, if not, then you are in trouble.

Please don't say this because it just isn't true. If your school okays you going it doesn't matter what your GPA is. Granted if it's too low going maybe wouldn't be the smartest thing. But there is no set number on Disney's website. It's all about the school.

That is not true. It really does depend on the school. When I applied for both of my programs, my GPA was below 2.0 and I was on academic warning, but my school still let me do the program and get credits for it. If you are getting credits for the program, just ask your school adviser about the GPA situation and if you are still able to do the program with the low GPA. Like I said, it's different with every school.

ah, so do all schools have a gpa requirement?

I think most major universities do but if you go to a community college (you'll see a lot of CPs do) there generally aren't any rules. I personally don't think the school should be able to stop you from going at all. SeaWorld has a CP too but it requires you to have a certain GPA and be in a certain field of study.

OH okay that makes a lot of sense. I'm in good standing with my school so that makes me feel better. I have almost a 3.0 I was afraid that it might be like 'usually 3.0+' or something from most schools.

This is good to know though because my bf goes to com. college & wants to apply as well but doesn't have the best grades. Thanks guys y'all are the best!:thumbsup2

Tell him to talk to his advisor first to be 100% sure. If he hasn't been out of high school for 4 years he can do the CareerStart Program too. Which doesn't require...well anything really. He just won't get as many job choices. See you for Spring 2012 Apps!!!:wizard::wizard::wizard:
