Hi! We just got back from DL just now (8/28). The park was loaded with people dressed in gothic style. It wasn't just a few either. It was a very large amount of people, and it was not a tour group. What was up? Is it goth day?

Yes! Today was Bats Day. :maleficen We were there last year at the same exact time, and had a blast. We found it very interesting to see all the unique outfits, and it looked like they were having so much fun.Other than being a little loud at certain times, they goth people were very nice and likeable. It is funny cause it always seems to land on my youngest daughters Bday....today she turns 2! :cake:

This is the first year we've missed Bat's Day in a few years. It is a lot of fun. Last year we were part of the group that held the 999th goth person to ride the Haunted Mansion sign. It was a great day! We're planning on being there next year for sure.

Well, that explains it! We enjoyed the outfits, but didn't want to stare too much because I didn't want to be rude. But some went all out in their outfits. There were entire families dress in goth too! And there wasn't a single complaint about behavior. Everyone seemed like they were having fun (despite the 100 degree heat). Anyway, thanks for answering my question. I knew it had to be something more than a coincidence.

OMG! Sunday was my last day in Disneyland and I was amazed at the numbers of these Goths! I have never seen so many in one place. There was this one guy wearing just a corset...(with a skirt) and no shirt. That was the only outfit that I thought may have been a little inappropriate. There was this one girl dressed as Cruella DeVille and the kids kept trying to get a picture w/ her and an autograph. She kept telling them that she wasnt a character. Haha! It was interesting though as I had no idea of any such "Bat Day". I did manage to get a picture as they were gathering by the main Walt Disney/Mickey statue.

We saw them our last day too. I was trying to figure out what it was. I wasn't bothered by them but some woman canceled her PS's for the Plaza Inn birthday party because she didn't want those people(I'm phrasing it nicer.) in the party with her kids. Personally I didn't see the big deal they weren't even seated anywhere near us. My DS's were trying to figure out why some guys were wearing skirts :rotfl: I just told them everyone dresses their own way and not to stare. None of them got rowdy where we were at. There was even one guy with Mickey ears cut to look like bats. :teeth: It was all very interesting to see.

Some people are close-minded I guess. :confused3 I didn't see anyone doing anything inappropriate at all, so they didn't bother me or my family. And we are conservative people. But I don't feel that everyone should be conservative. In fact, the world would be a boring place if we didn't have some variety. More power to the Goth's at DL. They weren't doing any harm (imho). It wouldn't deter me from going to DL on Bat day again.

I've never heard of that before but would LOVE It :) Definatly going to have to pencil it in for next year!

I saw them too. I didn't see any problems at all. They all had a good sense of humor about people staring and what-not.

Quite a few people are "goths for a day". "Real" goths don't care. Look at it as a chance to dress up (and bake) at the Happiest Place on Earth. If you want a unique Haunted Mansion ride make sure you ride it that day. They usually do a large meeting and ride at night too. (If you don't like people saying the spiel or screaming it might not be your cup of tea.)

I was there and my daughter was a dead tinkerbell. She had been waiting for months for bats day. It was perfect for her because she does not like to smile much and it added to the effect of the costume LOL. She got really mad when someone called her princess!!!!

I actually asked someone about midday who organized the goth meet :)

I was cordially informed about Batsday.com ... and that last year they had about 1900 participants.

I agree we had no problems. I can't imagine how sweltering it must have been, though ... especially for those in leather!

Oh, was it 8/28? We saw a few Goths on the 27th, so now I wonder if some made it a whole weekend thing. My sister read about it at her Pyracy Pub (for POTC fans) and knew ahead of time about Bats Day. All day, I walked by people in black and wished them a Happy Bats Day, hoping they'd return with a generous Happy Birthday after reading my sticker! Instead, I got a look of "Don't bother me!" *shrugs* Oh, well!

Oh, and JenJen? I LOVE your costume!!!

I was at the park that day also and was wondering what was going on. I saw 2 goths sitting in wheelchairs and on the back they had signs that said "Just Engaged," so I assumed it was a huge group celebrating.

And today was Bats Day 2006. There were 1250 Goths in line for Haunted Mansion at 8:00pm. Wow....neat day.

We were there last night! I always just seem to end up at DL on Bats Day!! I love it. I nickname various Goths according to their outfits!!....Quite entertaining!! :thumbsup2

My son and his new girlfriend(she's into it) and friends were there in dress. I'll post some pics later after I get them uploaded. Have to go to work now!

In honor of Bat's Day yesterday, my sister and I both wore shirts to promote the Groovie Goolies DVD release for October 24. She wore Frankie, I wore Drac. A group of Goths saw us in the Disney Emporium and wanted to know where we got the shirts from. They also took our picture. They were such fun people! I used to dress in goth clothes, but when I was given a hard time about it from family members, I gave it up. I've become a lighter dresser of gothic stuff. I love the faerie and celtic designs the most.
