Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

We were home from school today, too.

My kids are so used to all the snow that they're bored with it!

Kathy

Must be time for spring then! :goodvibes

We had a pretty good snow day. Hannah played with a couple of friends for a while sledding and then her socks got too wet and she was ready to come home. LOL We're on a 2 hour delay tomorrow.

Here's a couple of pictures as we're heading out:

On a separate note: LadyLallie I enjoyed your Disney selections on Subsonic Radio tonight.

OK...hijack over!

HOW FUN!!! Look at all that beautiful snow! Hannah is a smart girl -- I hate wet socks and would have called it a day at that point, too!

I want to see video of the dancing, should it happen! :rotfl:

:rotfl: I don't know about that...;)

I also laughed out loud at your Henry comment - noooooo neverrrrrrr! The other morning he thew his yogurt on the floor! :headache:

Oh, he must be entering the toddler stage. Have fun with that!

I'm in Minnesota and have to kinda sit here and giggle a bit at you Southeners and your snow. We got a foot the other day and school was not late or cancelled. We plowed right out our driveway in 4 wheel drive! :rotfl2: It takes A LOT to get school cancelled or late around here! The pics above are what we call a "dusting"!! :lmao:

 I can't imagine! I was reading a book set in Minnesota awhile back, and it was the first time I had ever heard of a car heater -- the kind that plugs into an outlet outside of the car or something. These arctic weather survival tactics blow my mind.

But, I know you guys don't have the snow plows or the sand/salt trucks that go out at the crack of dawn before the commuters, so drive safe and stay warm!! In Minnesota we are having a warm up, it's supposed to get into the 40s this week!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Nope, we don't have anything like that. Yeay for a warming trend!!!

They're calling for it to get into the upper 80's this week and one day into the 90's. I'm freezing when it hits 60.:lmao:

70's for us!!! I am freezing with anything below 60 degrees.

60's and 70's for us later in the week. I'm ready for it. My electric bill could use a break. If it's not going to be a snow day, then I'd like for it to be a warm day!

My heating bill needs a break, too -- it's eating into my vacation budget.

We're in some kind of belt here that wards off snow, I think. Very often, everyone around us will have snow, but our little belt will be snow-free. We'll be the lone county shining brightly on the morning weather map as going to school, and it really hurts! Whenever they finally do say our county, I watch it come on several times, just for the joy of seeing it and to really let it sink in.

Poor Connor. As you and I both know, his teachers were silently crying on the way to work, too. Every kid south of the KY-TN border deserves a few good snows like Dawn got. It gives them a chance to go wild with the sledding and snowball fights, snowmen and snow angels, and know the feeling of frozen cheeks and wet socks and the joy of a warm home and a mug of hot chocolate afterwards. Those are rare and treasured memories that every little Connor deserves to store away and reminisce about when they grow up. I know my kids have great memories of the few big snows we've had here.

One of our local weathermen comes to our school several times a week, because his wife is a teacher there. The kids always want to get mad at him when we don't get a snow day, and I have to explain that he reports the weather, but doesn't control it! I feel sorry for him when he walks in the back door on a day that other counties around us got snow days but we had to go to school. On the other hand, he's a real hero when he comes in and pretty much guarantees them (and their teachers) that the next day will be a snow day!

Maybe you can make up some kind of snow day party sometime to make it up to the kids. You can play some Eskimo games, put together a winter scene puzzle, watch Snow Buddies or some winter-themed movie, have snow ice cream (I've seen some in the stores, but forget which company makes it), and have hot chocolate and marshmallows. It might be as good as it gets for you in Georgia.

Or you could always pack your bags and move a couple of states to the north and get the real thing!

:lmao: I know what you mean about watching our county's school closing several times -- for me, it's usually because I think I may have read it wrong the first time.

Nope, no moving for us -- if anything we would move farther south -- we like snow once a year, but are really miserable if it is cold. Having our own snow day party is a great idea!!! We will need to do that sometime!

I was at a local thrift shop this weekned and found some sundae glasses, but they wanted like $6 a piece! I didn't see any at Target so I will look at Walmart next time I'm there.

I looked at Garden Ridge's website to see if they had any stores in Maryland, but Chesapeake, VA was the closest location. I hope you can find them somewhere. Did you look on ebay?

Jackie, please do me a favor and time that call on Sunday morning, I'm curious...

Oh, don't worry! I will be keeping an eye on how long it takes Sunday. Saturday when I called, I was on hold 45 minutes and that was about 11:45, maybe.

I just wish my heater was fixed!!

Ugghhhh, that stinks!!!

Good idea... want to see if they are "improving their record"?!?!?! :scared:

Oh, I sincerely hope so!!!

I have an update in the works, but I just can't seem to be able to get it together. Everytime I do start to think about it, something else happens. Hopefully tonight will be super quiet around here and I can upload some photos and post. Fingers crossed!!!

Oh I hope so---not much better than jumping on here to find an update on your TR!!!! I can't wait!

:thumbsup2

We may not have gotten a snow day on Monday, but when we arrived home from school, we found Disney mail waiting for us from Katie (DWGal210)! It was so sweet of her!

She had made us goodies!!! Notecards, travel journals, and post-it note holders! We were so excited!!!

Katie really did such a beautiful job on everything!!!

Sunday night must have been puzzle weather! Not only did Laura's (ILUVXU) girls do an awesome puzzle, but Chelsea, Connor, and I started Connor's villain puzzle that he had received for Christmas from my MIL. We have been working on it all week. Here's what it currently looks like.
017-1.jpg

This is what it will look like when it is all finished!
019-1.jpg

Chelsea has a princess one that I am sure we will do when we are finished with the villains.

In other Disney news, remember my friend Amara who nicknamed me the Disney Oracle? Well, they FINALLY booked their package yesterday (they leave for Disney on the 13th). :scared1: They are staying at the Wilderness Lodge Courtyard View with bunk beds. She came over last night, and I gave her the binder I made just for her; we made autograph books for her girls; and she found some t-shirt designs to make for her girls. I hope she has a terrific time and sends me lots of photos from her phone.

Yesterday I also took Nala to the vet for her last round of shots. The vet said he was initially mistaken as to how big she is going to get and told us she will probably only end up being 35 -- 40 pounds. This is the smallest dog we will have ever owned. He said she is not the lab/boxer mix the man told me she was, but without seeing her parents, there is no telling what she is. So there's our other puzzle.

Nala wants to know, "Does anyone know what I am???"

Anyone?

I promise I have not forgotten Epcot -- this weekend is ADR Sunday and I hope to post some of our photos from previous trips. It may be an update heavy weekend!

WOW! :worship: Your Disney mail is so awesome. Katie is very talented!!! :worship: I love everything but am especially intrigued by the post it holders as I am perpetually using post its at work. I may need to find out how to make such a holder! ::yes::

An update heavy weekend, you say???

:cool1:  :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :dance3: :yay:  :cool1:

Cool "stuff"

I bet both of Nala's parents were mixed breeds....I see a bunch of dogs in her...lab....german shepard....some breed of hound.

Oooh, an update heavy weekend - I like the sounds of that! :thumbsup2

I love all the new stuff! I'm so impressed that someone created those! Wow-that is talent! Do Connor and Chelsea usually keep trip journals? I love that sort of thing, and then looking back on them years later. A trip from a child's point of view would be so fun! I hope I can maybe convince Henry sometime when he's older! :goodvibes

Oh, he must be entering the toddler stage. Have fun with that!

 I can't imagine! I was reading a book set in Minnesota awhile back, and it was the first time I had ever heard of a car heater -- the kind that plugs into an outlet outside of the car or something. These arctic weather survival tactics blow my mind.

Yep, that toddler stage is creeping in. Random fits for no reason...it's a barrel of fun! Thankfully, at this point he is still mostly a happy little easy going guy! Thanks for the hug, I'm sure I'll need more over the next coupld years!

That is HILARIOUS about the plug in car heater! That is a huuuuuuuge bonus on a car. I've never had one with a plug in, but have always wanted one! Many apartment parking lots around here have outlets at the partking spot for that very reason. The cord either dangels just outside the grill on the front, or is just under the hood.

Have you ever heard of ice fishing?

Awww that stuff that Katie sent you is adorable, how talented she is! Even the box is cute! :cutie:

That puzzle is so cool, I want it! Do you have any idea where your MIL got it for Connor?

Oooo....you got some really neat stuff! And I love that puzzle! Any idea where your MIL got it?? I want one.... :)

And speaking of stuff....I am sorry that I could not send any of my snow to you. But I have some snow for you now!

:lmao: :lmao: What do you think??

Another cool Disney puzzle. I'll keep my eyes open for some good ones when I'm down there.

Nala looks quite happy and content in her new home.
What a lucky little pup!

I know, know.....She's CUTE!!!!! Ok, so I don't really know what breed she is. We have a dog like that too....just can't figure him out. I can't believe how big Nala has gotten.

Your Disney mail looks so fun! I love the little trip journals. They are really neat, I may try to make one for our trip.

What a lovely gift! :goodvibes There are so many talented, crafty people here on the DIS! (Unfortunately, I am not one of them!)

Enjoy!

Kathy

Those trip journals are TOO cute. What a nice friend you have. :goodvibes
I don't really have much to offer you on what kind of dog Nala is, but maybe some Beagle, hound something? She's just cute, that's just what she is!

She used chipboard and scrapbooking paper -- very cute -- I took some of them to work to put a little more Disney cheer into my day.

Yes, unless something happens I plan on updating Saturday with an Epcot post and Sunday with the ADR post. I am so looking forward to having my ADRs.

Cool "stuff"

I bet both of Nala's parents were mixed breeds....I see a bunch of dogs in her...lab....german shepard....some breed of hound.

Once the vet said 35-40 pounds, I immediately saw some beagle in her -- we keep guessing.

Oooh, an update heavy weekend - I like the sounds of that! :thumbsup2

Chelsea is a journaling kind of girl -- she kept one last June, too. Connor is touch and go -- this year I hope he does one because he has such a unique way of seeing things.

Henry will probably stay pretty happy and easy-going except for those occasional fits. ;)

I have heard of ice fishing -- don't they do that in Fargo or am I thinking of another movie? :rotfl: Most of my knowledge of cold weather activities comes from movies. :lmao:

Awww that stuff that Katie sent you is adorable, how talented she is! Even the box is cute! :cutie:

That puzzle is so cool, I want it! Do you have any idea where your MIL got it for Connor?

I even saved the box! It was too cute to throw away!

I will ask her -- we have had so much fun putting it together.

:lmao: :lmao: What do you think??

I'll ask my MIL and let you know.

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I love it!!! Where did you find it??? The elves want to bring that next year!

Another cool Disney puzzle. I'll keep my eyes open for some good ones when I'm down there.

Nala looks quite happy and content in her new home.
What a lucky little pup!

Walmart has one that I plan on getting that is Mickey Mouse, but each piece is a scene from a Disney movie -- puzzles are a great way for us all to sit down and spend time together.

Don't be fooled -- Nala is a hoodlum. She goes, goes, goes all the time. We discovered that as soon as we turn out the living room light at night, she konks out. I turned it off quite early this evening.

I know, know.....She's CUTE!!!!! Ok, so I don't really know what breed she is. We have a dog like that too....just can't figure him out. I can't believe how big Nala has gotten.

She is a cutie, isn't she? :goodvibes She cracked me up posing tonight -- it was like she knew I wanted to post her asking her very important question.

I just adore those trip journals. I wish you could see each page -- they are great!

What a lovely gift! :goodvibes There are so many talented, crafty people here on the DIS! (Unfortunately, I am not one of them!)

Enjoy!

Kathy

Thanks! :goodvibes
