Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

:rotfl: In high school and the first year I was in college I worked in a supermarket and trust me, people act like the world is coming to an end when they hear anything about snow. They MOB the supermarkets and clean them out :lmao:

I always think that is the oddest thing. I'm in CT, and the moment a few flakes fall there is a run on food at the grocery store as if they are going to be snowed in for about a month.

I swear, how often are you snowed in for more than a day. (Two tops). Now in Georgia I can understand. I was in Atlanta in January 2000 to go to the Super Bowl, and it was in the middle of what they were referring to on every station as "Storm 2000". Church was cancelled everywhere (which I don't think I had ever seen before), and the weathermen were hawking the experience as if it was the biggest blizzard they had ever seen. Outside there was practically nothing. Then I realized that there was no huge fleet of snow plows and sanders waiting to take care of it, and then even that little bit of bad weather made life nuts. It was funny.

Exactly! The longest I think we've ever been "snowed in" here has been 2 days and on day 2 if you really had NOTHING in your house, you could get to a store. It's insane. I guess down south they're just not used to it and they don't have the teams of people preparing to clean the roads and stuff like they do up here. I mean, they rarely get snow so why would like have to? It is funny though

I love seeing what your elves did!

Thanks! I will have another week's worth to post this weekend.

Your elves are so cute! I love all their mischievous adventures!

They have been very mischievous this week -- just wait and see what they have been the past few nights! :scared:

I love your elves and their antics. I finally had to order my elf on-line. I went Christmas shopping in Des Moines over the weekend. Guess what? There is not a single elf (besides the creepy Elf on a Shelf) to be had in the entire city - trust me - I stopped EVERYWHERE to look. They must all be visiting homes in the area already. :confused3

Are the elves okay? No injuries to report in the remote control vs tree incident, are there? Can't wait to see what else the elves can get into.

Has yours arrived yet? Our elves are pretty resilient, thank goodness. Otherwise we would probably be paying medical bills during their stay!

Hi Jackie!!!

I've actually had your PTR bookmarked for a couple weeks, but I finally got a chance to read it and get all caught up!!

I love the elves... they're crackin me up:rotfl:
The leprechans visit us every St Pats day... and turn our milk GREEN.... so we have green scrambled eggs, and mac and cheese...anything made with the milk...for about a week:lmao:

Paula

Hi, Paula! Welcome! I am so glad you came over!!! The leprachauns are too funny! I will totally remember that for this next St. Patrick's Day -- the children would LOVE green milk! :rotfl:

I always thought that kind of behavior was reserved for Southerners! ;)

Oh, we freak at even the thought of snow and ice. You are right, though -- we just aren't equipped for it. We do love "naming" any weather event down here.

Don't worry -- we laugh at ourselves when it happens.

Jackie, Thanks for the inspiration! Evie and Elvis arrived at school today to visit the 4th grade until break. My students are so excited that they are about to pop! The question is, will any learning actually occur between now and next Thursday? :confused3 :rotfl2: :confused3

I can't wait to hear about Evie and Elvis's adventures! There will probably not be a bit of book learning going on between now and next Thursday, but just remember, not all learning is tested on those standardized tests. (That's what I tell myself at any rate). ;)

Learn? So close to Christmas? No way!!!

Such nice words to hear.
Can we vote you in as President of Education?

All this talk about teaching is making me excited to get finished with school so I can have a class of kiddies of my own:goodvibes :teacher:

I love the elves! Such a cute idea...Henry is still too young to understand, but maybe I'll bring some elves to work next week and see what happens to my team...:rotfl2: Hmmm....

Looking forward to more elf mischief!

You will love it. I can't imagine doing anything besides teaching.

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I definitely think you should bring some elves to work -- that would be hysterical!

I'm in!! I'm also going in June 2009! I haven't started my ptr yet.. but I probably will in Jan. I looked forward to more info.. its going to take me a bit to catch up.. hehe

CP, I love all the mischief the elves get into! I'm so going to need to show my DH the Batman stuff, he'll get a kick out of that.

And you remind me, I really need to pick up a gingerbread house for us to make. I know DS will end up eating most of it, but it'll be fun anyway.:lmao:

I have a ton of more photos from this past week if I am ever allowed on the other computer (that's the one where I can upload photos). Hopefully, later today I can do that.

Connor has been trying to eat the gingerbread house all week, and he is nine! :rotfl:

The real question might be Where are YOU staying? :rotfl:

I'm looking forward to gingerbread house pictures. Those are the fun things in life. Brooklynn and I will be doing some baking this weekend, and I'm sure the sprinkles will be uneven, but beautiful! We might graduate to a gingerbread house next year.

Did you happen to see the holiday gingerbread Pop-tarts? I bought a box just for fun. They're not bad just for something different. Our standards are strawberry for Trent, chocolate for Drew, and brown sugar cinnamon for me.

Why am I talking about Pop-tarts? I'm supposed to be on my way to the store before church to beat the crowds! See ya!

I'm in for this TR I just read your last one and loved it!
Want to know the weirdest thing?
My family stayed at POFQ, June 7th-14th 2008, and we were in Building 3! Only, we were on the first floor on the corner facing the parking lot, but on the main building side, if that makes sense.
Yeah, there wasn't much of a view but I loved the convenience, especially because we rented a car, so the parking lot was right there!

Anyways, I'm looking forward to more of your PTR =)

Hi CP! Just checkin' in to your PTR, don't think I've wandered this way for a while. Did you get over to our blog page to vote for the chat day? 4 hours left! Sunday and Thursdays are in the lead.

Has yours arrived yet? Our elves are pretty resilient, thank goodness. Otherwise we would probably be paying medical bills during their stay!

Yep. Christopher Pop-in-kins arrived on Wednesday. He had a name change and I ditched the book. Martin the Elf showed up on our fireplace this morning with a note from Santa. The Pop-in-kins story included the no touching rule. I figured that would scare my girls & I thought they'd have more fun with an elf they can touch. In fact, Martin was carried into DD2's room for nap!

Looking forward to hearing more about your elves!

Still Beach Club. I tried broaching the subject tonight with Charles about Animal Kingdom Lodge -- you know, just to see what he might say. His response? He looked at me and said, "Uh....NO." So, that settles that. ;)

Photos are uploaded and ready for an update. We are still rather uneven on sprinkles and such. We made Christmas cupcakes today, and there are still sprinkles everywhere. I bet Brooklyn had a blast with you!

We have not tried the gingerbread Pop-Tarts -- we might need to -- they sound fun. Normally, we are a brown sugar cinnamon house, too.

Welcome! That's so funny about you being there at POFQ at the exact same time! I wonder if we were ever in the same place at the same time???

The no-touching rule is rather odd -- my two love hauling Ingrid and Haddon all over the house. Earlier today, Chelsea had them on the couch watching Elf with her. You will have to tell me what sort of mischief Martin gets into over the next couple of weeks!

It's been a busy week with the elves, and somehow, Christmas is creeping closer and closer. I HAVE to get organized soon because the procrastinating isn't working for me any longer.

Sunday, we made the gingerbread house. We had a blast, but clearly, I need to work on my icing skills.

I was so excited to get the house assembled. That was my biggest fear.

Then, we decorated, decorated, decorated.

Connor wants to eat the house so badly -- he must bring it up once a day. He just can't wrap his mind around the idea that it's just decoration.

The elves have been full of antics this week.

They pulled out all the Christmas books and found some friends to read them with.

They hid a bunch of candy canes around the house for Chelsea and Connor to find.

They discovered Life cereal.

They roasted marshmallows with their reindeer friends.

They brought Christmas cake mix and frosting.

They also climbed up on the ceiling fan in the living room and went to spend the night with Chelsea and Connor at their grandmother's house. They met up with my niece and nephew's elves there, and from what I hear tell, had quite the elf party.
