Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

I vote for AKL! But I've never been to WL, so my vote shouldn't really count.

I am so happy for both you and Charles that you have stuck to quitting smoking. It must be so hard. I think it's great that you're putting the saved money to good use!

Congrats to you about the smoking too -

sorry... I saw "Charles quit smoking"... must have missed the "and I" part! :headache:

Hurrah for quitting smoking!! :cheer2: Definitely an excellent reason to "justify" a deluxe. As for which one, I'm afraid I'll be no help they both sound good to me. :rolleyes1 Love your game show... resort roll call... you should look into syndicating that! ;)

This is where I come in and do my chant...

:rotfl: But you know, Heidi, after you stay at CBR, I may decide to switch back to that one. ;)

I would like the countdown of when you will be paid in full because I can't take the resort hopping!! :lmao:

I am planning to have it paid off by the end of March.

I am also ruling out Chelsea's vote in Resort Role Call because she is picking the Grand Floridan for next year.

I told her that myself. :rotfl:

Boat Rides.
Relaxation.
Humphrey.
Souviners.
A first for the whole Family.
The Geyser.
The Most Wonderful Cheeseburgers EVER.
A pool in which while you are swimming you feel like you are truly in the woods and not in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Disney.
The boat.
Riding underneath the monorail while in the boat.
The most comfortable bed ever. Truly, it was heaven.
Need I say more? :thumbsup2

I love all of these things -- I think we will have a great time at WL. Was the pool good-sized though?

WILDERNESS LODGE!

You guys are cracking me up! :rotfl2:

I am so glad we finally got the scoop!!!

And let me also just say, "Congrats to you guys for quitting smoking!!!!" Great Job!!!

These decisions are KILLERS though!!!

Thank you! Chelsea really wanted us to quit, and Charles pretty much strong-armed me into it. I am so glad that I did now -- I feel so much healthier.

:::sigh:::

CP.

Everyone is going to want to kill me right now.

Honey, you stay where your heart wants, okay?

I love the Wilderness Lodge, for many, many reasons. It's the perfect deluxe to me, since I can't afford the Grand Floridian.

But if you want the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you should stay there.

Even though I would stay at Wilderness Lodge.

Savvy? ;) ;)

Savvy. We do love Wilderness Lodge -- I think we are going to be thrilled with either one, so I am not too stressed about it. There is always 2011, too. ;)

Congrats on quitting smoking. :cheer2: I have only stayed at WL, for one night, so I have no opinion. Except I'd love to stay at the Poly or GF. :lovestruc

Thank you! I have chewed a LOT of gum in the past three months.

I bet you will love the WL. The pool is far better than POFQ... although CBR looks great with their new pool. I actually have to say I am putting it back in the list of hotels I would stay at due to the pool. Just having an interior lobby to relax in is awesome. Plus sitting on the beach to watch the water parade.... and the deck!

This view alone...

Also a big hooray for quitting smoking!

Yes! I agree! Wilderness Lodge!

And congrats on quitting smoking! I let DH buy his motorcycle last year with the promise he'd quit smoking to pay for the payment but... he defaulted on the promise. :sad2:

Good for you too! I certainly never pegged you as a smoker though, who knew?! :confused3

Foolish senior year of high school decision -- I was trying to shed my goody-goody image.

One of these days your DH will be able to do it!

I am so proud of you both for quitting smoking!! You've added years to your life!!

Thank you! I just kept thinking about what I would be able to spend all the extra money on at WDW. :rolleyes1

As to your resort, I feel your pain. I am going back and forth daily on where we will stay. Actually, Wilderness Lodge is in the running. ;) My family is no help either. Em say the bayou at Riverside (she loved the trundle bed). Jake says French Quarter. Chuck will not say, but I suspect he is waiting to see the CBR before he votes. I would really like to stay at French Quarter again (it is my fav if we can't go to Poly), but I also have a yearning to try something new, hence the Wilderness Lodge vote.

You are not alone, my sister! Resort indecisiveness abounds!!

If you stayed at Wilderness Lodge, that would be sooooo neat! We would be there the same time, and we would almost definitely meet! :thumbsup2

Keep us posted on your resort decision.

Congrats to Charles for quitting! My DH quit a year and a half ago after about 16 years of smoking. He went to a hypnostist in Boston. He had tried so many times and the hypnostist finally did it for him! Unfortunately he has gained weight, but he is planning to join the gym this month and start getting that under control. I'll have to add that $1800 (minus gym membership) to our budget for April!! :thumbsup2

I'm so jealous that you get to do a resort role call! We always stay off-site because we own a condo - but I guess that's why we get to go so often. My biggest Disney resort indulgence has been Pop for two nights. But I haven't ruled out adding a couple of nights (on-site) to our April trip. :rolleyes1

Both Charles and I gained some weight, but then it leveled off -- I chew a lot of Orbit gum -- especially during the moments when I would normally smoke instead.

I am envious of you being able to go down frequently. :goodvibes

Congratulations on quitting smoking! That's a great reason to celebrate with a splurge. I can't offer an opinion, as I haven't been to either, but with those choices I don't think you can go wrong.

I know we will be thrilled no matter where we end up -- we'll be at Disney after all.

Ok so I've never stayed at either WL or AKL because I'm a poor college student but based on things I've heard and pictures I've seen you can add my vote in for WL. For whatever thats worth

Thanks! Some of the photos I have seen from Wilderness Lodge are just so beautiful!

No matter what we decide, I know we will be at AKL for a meal at Boma. Mmmmm....

Thanks! It was hard -- we did the patch to begin with, and in the beginning, I could tell you exactly how many days it had been since we stopped. Now, I barely think about it. It was October 2nd or 3rd before I realized that I had missed bragging on September 30th that it had been three months.

Congrats to you about the smoking too -

sorry... I saw "Charles quit smoking"... must have missed the "and I" part! :headache:

That's okay! :goodvibes

Thank you -- I figured since the whole theme of 2009 is celebrating, we would celebrate with a deluxe stay!

What cracked me up the most about Resort Roll Call was the fact that Connor completely melted under pressure -- just burst into tears and couldn't even think. Poor guy -- but I was trying not to laugh.

The pools tend to influence us quite a bit.

What a gorgeous view of the WL pool -- thanks for sharing! I just sat gazing at it for several minutes! 8 months from today, I will be there!!!

Was that from your room???

Thank you! We are pretty proud of ourselves. :goodvibes

Me: Connor, where would you like to stay this summer?
Connor (Bursting into tears): I can’t deal with the pressure! I don’t know!
Clearly, Resort Roll Call was a bust. It was back to the traditional method of showing them photos of the beauty known as Wilderness Lodge until they, too, thought that would be the best place to stay.

Keep in mind, though, that nothing is ever definite where my resort is concerned until I have paid for the trip in full.

Poor guy! Just point him to the pool, arcade, and food court in whatever resort you choose, and he'll probably be fine.

Whichever one you finally decide on for this trip, you can do a different one for the next trip, so you really can't go wrong. I'd like to stay at Wilderness Lodge at Christmas sometime.

I'm very glad you stopped smoking. You've gotta be around for a long time for those precious kids!

Now if I can only be as successful at giving up eating...

My vote is taking a bit of a different route:

BEACH CLUB!!

Similar to the things you like at CBR:
•White sand beaches to walk along.
•Lovely pastel colors displayed on all the buildings.
•Storm-along Bay for lying around and soaking in the sun. (many say the best pool at WDW, by far)
•Beautiful new refurbed rooms for our enjoyment.
•Movies on the beach every night.
•Bonfire and s'mores every night.
•Beaches and Cream. (Need I say more?)
•5-minute walk to Epcot.
•Beautiful sweeping views of Crescent Lake, the lighthouse, and the Boardwalk, both by day and by night.
•Plenty to do at Boardwalk (magicians, street performers, surreys).
•Daily activities for the kids.
•Amazing smell in the lobby and corridors.
•Art - he's worth the visit.

I can't say enough good things about this place!! And it doesn't feel a hundred miles away like AKL (which I LOVE, btw). I wanna go back!

I know it -- he was a mess! He loves the pool, the totem pole, and the boat to MK.

Wilderness Lodge would be great at Christmas -- I would love to be there when there is a fire going in that fireplace.

Thank you! That was definitely a deciding factor -- we want to be around for all the things Chelsea and Connor do with their lives.

Eating is so much more fun though...

Wow! What a great list, Susan! You had to go and throw a wrench into my plans, didn't you? :rotfl: Beach Club is definitely on my wish list, but I don't know if it is in our budget for this year -- I can't wait to see more photos of it on your TR. In the back of my mind, I am kind of thinking the resort stays will go like this: WL, GF (Chelsea wants to stay there for her 13th), AKL, BC, Boardwalk, YC. I think that covers all the deluxes -- then, there are still three values and Caribbean Beach that we haven't stayed at yet. So many trips to stay at all of them. :rolleyes1

I loved the WL pool because it was broken up into two areas. There was the side with the slide and then there was the other side that was more relaxing where the water fed into the pool. So relaxing, so beautiful, so worth it. ;)

I'm with LL on this one. I really loved the pool there, and I wasn't sure how I would feel about it after having the loud colorful pools at Pop to compare it to. The WL pool was still plenty of fun for DS, truthfully, give him any pool and he's happy, and it was very enjoyable for us as well. :thumbsup2

That was indeed our room we were on the fifth floor. We checked in late...around 10ish and had one night room only and then started our package. So when I checked in they wanted to upgrade us to the villas... yippee... but only for the one night. Did not see the two resies attached. I of course did not want to switch rooms, so it took a while tofind a room we could stay in the whole trip... and that is where they upgraded us to! We had a courtyard view for the price of woods view!

OK I'll take that. I think once you get to BC and get a chance to walk through Boardwalk, you will decide not do to BW. Just my opinion. You can get all of the experience still staying at BC. Unless, that is, you want a noisy balcony room overlooking the BW.:confused3

Chelsea and Connor are like that -- a pool of any sort and they are as happy as clams. As long as there is a lounge chair that I can stretch out on while they are happily swimming, I am happy, too! :thumbsup2

What luck! I have booked a standard view, and I would be happy wherever they put us -- but I certainly wouldn't complain if we got upgraded. :rolleyes1

Oh, you have a good point! Noisy balcony rooms would not be our thing -- besides I find that clown at the Boardwalk pool a bit creepy.

I did price out a stay at Beach Club -- let's just say it is a little out of our price range this summer.

Yesterday's mail brought us a beautiful glossy brochure of the new Bay Lake Towers -- I left it lying prominently out on the kitchen island for Charles to see. Well, let's just say that he is not the most observant of men. He walked by it several times -- how could he not see the big words "Welcome to your palace next to the castle"? Finally, tonight, we had storytime where I put on my best teacher voice and showed him each page. Charles loves Bay Lake -- to the point where since I first showed him the models on the various sites he has been saying that we should buy in to DVC. Oh, how I wish I could justify it -- but in today's rocky economy, it seems a bit foolhardy. Maybe some great incentives will come along. :rolleyes1 In the meantime, we will continue dreaming...

I was a couple pages behind, so here is my late CONGRATULATIONS on quitting smoking!!!!!!!!! That is an incredible hurdle to overcome. GO YOU! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I cannot throw in a vote for the Great Resort Debate...but after our trip IN ONE MONTH, I will give you more pictures and details on how WL is. I've never heard a poor review of it yet!

Now, I'm off to read Lady Lallie's TR for a bit (or at least subscribe, gotta get some sleep soon!). I love reading TRs of those staying at the same resort I am! Makes me soooo excited!!

Oh, and I'm with ya on DVC. Someday when the economy is more stable...

So you're the logical one? If Mitch said let's go, I'd pack right then! :thumbsup2

Mental note: Need to start "storytime" with BF to:
a.) coerce him into next year's currently "solo" trip
b.) stop calling Disney "THAT" place and
c.) buy me shoes.

The other day Mitch and I were out at Epcot and he randomly said something that sounded like he really liked being there. I was totally shocked and then he tried to act like he didn't say it. :goodvibes

Kelly Ripa was saying that her husband bought her two pairs of shoes for her birthday the other day. She couldn't stop singing his praises. Maybe you could get video of that since it looked like his night was going to be very good. :thumbsup2

DVC is definitelyyyyy a dream of mine too...but at 21 there's no way for me to afford that now. How about in 10 years when I have a nice cushy teaching job, 3 little kiddies running around and a hubby who loves Disney like I do...until then we can only dream :cloud9:
