Got Pixie Dust? A June 2009 PTR ~TR Link, Page 180

Jackie, since you are in such a dire "need" for some snow, I will be HAPPY to shovel up the 13-14" of snow (mixed in with 2" of ice in the middle) that I currently have blanketing my yard and send it down to you FIRST CLASS right away!!! ;o) I LOVE to share with my friends!!!!!!!! I, on the otherhand, have been drooling every night when I see the 60 degrees marker on the weather map hovering over Atlanta! We always want what we can't have..................AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH Bummer!

I am in solidarity with my fellow "snow bunnies", if that's what you'd call us. :thumbsup2

Snow is nice and sweet and pretty for about the first 24 hours - but when it's been winter since November and you have enough ice on the driveways to skate on, then it gets old fast. :goodvibes

Today it's not been that bad here - last week was AWFUL - our high one day was -10 degrees - and that was the actual temperature, NOT windchill!

I keep thinking warm thoughts and knowing one day it will be warm again. :beach:

To answer your question, Princess, I'm now working in the financial sector, where as a I was in advertising. I was a bit leary the last few months with all that's been going down, but we're not as affected by the recent crisis so that's a good thing.

I would LOVE a solo trip this year but I am still a little hesitant to do it. I think I would go down there myself but then want to meet up with some Dis buddies so I wouldn't be by myself all the time. I am thinking that maybe in June since my brother and his wife (the ones that we went with in June) are having a baby in July and I want to be around for that. But it all depends on my checks the next few months and if I can swing it!

I'll keep you posted!

You guys got that much snow??? :faint: Once I read that you lost power, my little dreams of curling up with hot chocolate while big, fat snowflakes floated to the ground (to the tune of the Snowflake Dance in the Nutcracker) kind of extinguished themselves. I think I will just sit here and enjoy our slightly warmer weather. ;)

Yeah, I don't want snow all winter long -- a couple of days would be just fine. ;)

I'll keep my fingers crossed that your checks are good for the next few months. :goodvibes

Plus it's hard to make hot chocolate if you don't have power... ;)

I am so with you...We haven't seen even an inch of grass since well before Thanksgiving. It hasn't even snowed all week and there is still 3 feet on the ground. Ugh! If it gets warm during the day it just starts to melts and then freezes causing more issues. Can it be May yet? ? ? Our kids already have had 6 snow days this year.

Please no snow in Atlanta! Because if it hits Atlanta it's guaranteed to head up 85 North to me and I don't want snow!! LOL

Exactly. I'll just go back to daydreaming about eating Dole Whips while walking towards POTC in the 90 degree heat!

Six snow days!!! Crazy! I am ready for spring and short sleeves and flip flops -- I wouldn't mind one teensy-tiny snow day beforehand though.

Did you get any snow over MLK weekend? We had a few snowflakes but nothing stayed.

Jackie... I have been home for four days now. If I have a snow day I like the ones where by say noon you can leave the house for Lunch and errands and fun stuff. I have left the house yesterday for the grocery and Y. Neither of those places are fun. Plus driving on our roads is like driving on gravel roads... they are so bumpy!

Yes! School was out on Monday and then they had a Teacher Workday scheduled for Thursday and Friday. It snowed on Tuesday, the 20th, so no school that day and Thursday was a make up day. We didn't get a whole lot...most of it was gone by late afternoon...but Hannah enjoyed getting out and playing in it for a while.

Jackie, when we do get that beautifully soft-falling snow that I curl up with hot chocolate and a nice warm blankie, it is WONDERFUL!!!!!

BUT, this snow is not that---It has been pretty at times, but losing power made for a terribly LONG Wednesday with very limited things to do----because we had to stay under the blankets to keep warm. We did do some great "warm" activities---like look through all our Disney books and think of how warm it is there right now!!! Megan said the cutest thing---she said,
"Mommy, I think the sun went to live at Mickey's House! I don't blame him!!!" Isn't that too cute! The other BAD side affect of all this snow, and no power, and nothing to do but dream about WDW----I have caught a HORRIBLE case of CP's RESORT CHANGING-ITIS!!!!!!! There are WAY too many spinning around in my head right now----WAY.....TOO......MANY!!!!!!

Oh, I hope all your snow melts and you are able to get back to a normal routine next week! I wouldn't want to be cooped up for that long at a stretch.

Oh, I bet she had a blast! My kids were lamenting that they have never seen a big snowfall. Poor babies -- growing up so deprived. :rotfl2:

It's a bad illness, Jen, and well-nigh incurable! Did you see Trixie's AKV photos? Oh my. Had there been a room available for our dates, I would have been switching today. Although, I say that, and I really don't think I will be switching. The more I read/see about the Beach Club, the more excited I get about staying there. Yesterday when I called to make my payment, I made my requests for the room -- daybed and full balcony. I was very excited after that.

I had, what I thought was, the brilliant idea awhile back that for the last four months of my PTR, each month would be dedicated to one of the parks. Since I tend to do weekend updates, I could do one week as old photos, one week as rides and attractions that we don’t want to miss, and then, one week as the food and drinks that we are looking forward to indulging in. That would leave one week free for whatever rambling nonsense I want to share.

Being extremely OCD, I have to do the parks in the order that they opened.

To kick off February this weekend, I give you the Magic Kingdom! The place where all our dreams come true! Can you smell Main Street just thinking about it?

I realized as I was going through all the photos that I only have pictures from when I started taking them – hence, my mother must have all the really old photos of our early years visiting the parks.

I also noticed that I have very few photos from the Magic Kingdom – tons from the other three, but not this one. I think I get so overwhelmed by being there that I forget to take pictures. Maybe one of my trip resolutions could be to take more photos while we are at the Magic Kingdom?

Here’s the first photo I ever took at the Magic Kingdom. It’s 1991 – you can tell by the 20th anniversary banners. If you can’t read those banners, you can certainly tell by that man’s shirt and shorts. He does not belong with us. However, you will see in April why I should not be judgemental when you check out what I wore to Disney-MGM Studios.

I have no pictures from the Magic Kingdom when Charles and I went in 1995, nor do I have any from 1998 when we took Chelsea for the first time. How sad is that???

In December 2004, we went with Charles’s family. We met LOTS of characters on that trip. The sheer joy on my children’s faces is just breathtaking to me.

Stitch and all the cousins (check out Connor’s face – he was loving Stitch):

Cruella was especially taken with Chelsea when she saw her fur coat:

In June, 2007, we headed back to WDW. Again, I had a hard time taking photos at the Magic Kingdom:

In October, 2007, we headed to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. Oh, look, Jackie took another carrousel picture:

In April, 2008, we headed to the Pirate and Princess Party. If you were around for the last PTR/TR, you will have seen all of these photos before:

In June, 2008, we headed back yet again. Yes, we are WDW Junkies! Who can forget Connor’s panic at being incarcerated with Emperor Zurg?

Just looking through all of these pictures has my excitement bubbling!

I enjoyed seeing your pictures! I love your idea of one park a month! It will help the weeks count down faster!

Jackie, you have two of the cutest kids EVER. Every time I see a picture of them, it just brings a smile to my face. They are so creative with some of their poses! :rotfl:

Awww...Jackie loved the update and the pictures through time!! Yes make a promise to yourself that this time you will take photos at Magic Kingdom!!!

Great update can't wait to read more!!

The kids have gotten so big... it is neat to see how they change from trip to trip. Thanks for the great review!

Love the pictures---and REALLY love the idea of your monthly themes!!! I look forward to seeing more soon!!! My how the kids have grown!

I just love seeing pictures of your kids! And the progression is so nice. It's really great to see how much you've all enjoyed Disney through the years, so I'm looking forward to your next updates to see all the other parks, too! :goodvibes

Nice flashback! It's sweet and sad to see how much the kids have grown. Sad in the bittersweet way not the bad way.

We will be at WDW June 8 - 16, staying at POP Century. My DD(8) has read your pre-trippie with me and just said "Maybe we will see them there!" :wave2: ....I think that she is going to be on the lookout for your familly the whole time. We are addicted to your pre-trippie!!

We are as excited as you are, and I definitely need to make a binder! :lmao: I better get working on the cover!

Looking forward to more updates!

Trish
