I swear I've changed my reservation a million times by now! I had the CR booked Dec 9-14. Changed to POFQ with DxDP. Free dining came out. 
Changed to free dining, but had to book a room only so I'd have to check in and then check back out 
Got a FD pin today!!!!! Covers the 9th, so now I have free dining for the whole stay. 
I only have to check in once and I don't have to worry about anything. BONUS.
I just wish Disney would send my friend Katie one too
