Hi All!

Okay, I did some more research regarding the Deluxe Disney hotels....Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Yacht Club and Key West can be EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! Personally I was not impressed with the Polynesian especially the price $350.00 and UP! Well has anyone ever considered the Grand Hyatt Cypress!??? This place is absolutely STUNNING!! It's a resort with everything, golf, gorgeous pool with water falls, horseback riding, beach, lake, boating etc....The rates are extremely reasonable for this caliber hotel...It is very close to Disney (less than 5 miles) Here is the web site..

http://grandcypress.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml

check it out...some of the rates are as low as $209.00 per night....

I had a friend that stayed there and was not impressed with the rooms.

However, I must say, I'm not all that impressed with Disney hotels either CONSIDERING the price tag. Yes, they are clean, usually well kept up, and the deluxes have many nice features. But the beds are really lacking compared with the Westin Hevenly Beds or the beds at Loews Hotels (Universal) or Ritz Carltons. The linins at the Loews Hotels and Ritz Carltons are also far superior (drapes, bed linins, etc...)

Haven't stayed here, but have heard very nice things about Gaylord Palms. I know people are getting this on Priceline for about $85 a night. Looks nice...maybe next time.

The JW Marriott next to the Ritz is the finest hotel we have ever stayed at. We got a huge 1 bedroom suite for less than a Disney deluxe, but that was last summer when they were offering intro rates. I would love to go back!!

My vote is for the Swan. The 'Heavenly beds' are just that. The grounds are beautiful and the short walk to Epcot closes the deal for me!

I thought the same thing!!!!We were planning on staying at a 2 bedroom BCV in October. Expensive!!! But I thought, well we're on Disney property so it will be worth it. Then I saw some pictures of the villas & I didn't really care for the decor. It doesn't even look like there is enough sitting for 6 people to sit & eat breakfast. We're staying at the villas of grand cypress which is on the same property as the Hyatt. Check out the pictures of these villas. Disney doesn't come close. Cheaper & adjacent to Disney property. Plus we love to golf & some in our party will be doing that. Hope it's as nice as it looks.

You NOT going to believe this!!! I just booked the Hyatt Granrd Cypress for July 4th week (July3-july9) at a WHOOPING $99.00 a NIGHT!!!!!!!!! This is a 5 STAR hotel and it beats the Disney Polynesian HANDS DOWN!! To get the $99.00 rate you must be a government employee......they also have AAA rates, and Hyatt internet rates.....AAA rates are $197.00! This hotel is GORGEOUS!

BTW...Thanks all for you valuable comments and opinions....

Grande Lakes Resort certainly gets my vote as first choice. Both the JW and the Ritz are superb resorts, unique in their own way, and spectacular all around. Truly a luxurious experience, and the Spa....... WELL!!

Love the Gaylord Palms, too. The interior is just amazing, the restaurants are excellent, and there's something about walking through the Everglades area at night that appeals to me in the most romantic of ways.

The Peabody is good fun with the Duck March, and while I didn't make it to Dux, I had a gorgeous breakfast at the B-Line Diner.

The Renaissance is another fabulous choice (great view of SeaWorld!) and I had an excellent meal at Atlantis. Truly one of the more memorable dining experiences.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the Royal Pacific Resort. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it certainly met every expectation and then some. Loved all the special touches, most notably the fireflies that cast a reflection from the bedside lamps onto the walls. Great non-Disney choice.

We stayed there in 2001 - the villa is huge. This year we are staying at Royal Palm Villas - with a timeshare but we booked an extra night at 155.00 (AAA rate). The grounds are beautiful - the main pool is huge-there are a couple of really nice restaurants. Just a very "deluxe" type place to stay!

Help! I just called to verify what type of government and they said only federal government and they would ask to see his Federal ID! My husband is employed by the local government (town) so I am too sad! I was soooo excited! I wish they had clarified this on the site:( :(

I agree with you on the Disney hotels. For the price you can stay at the Ritz! I have heard great things about the Grand Cypress, especially teh villas part. I think Gaylord Palms, Portofino & any Westin resort are luxurious hotels.

Actually the quote you pasted says US Gov't which means federal government (United States government). You might have a point if you worked for a federal agency. S/D is very liberal with their interperatation but the Hyatt could certainly require federal government ID.

Called them and they said exactly what Lewis posted above, this is for Federal only and your ID will be checked UGH! They use to honor state government as well but they did away with that a few years ago...Oh well I'll keep looking:confused:

Wow! My hubby works for the Federal govt in DC, so our ressie is fine. I'm sorry you couldn't take advantage of that rate, but I'm glad you were able to find out before check in!

My DH & I are going to HRGC in May. It's our pre-trip before our family trip in October. I couldn't wait so DH & I are going alone to do things we want to do without the family. I'll let the boards know how HRGC is.

Watch for this hotel on GREAT HOTELS on the Travel Channel. I saw the episode and it looks like a wonderful hotel the whole family would appreciate.
