Google maps for ipad?

A question for those that use google maps on their iPad. I am unable to placemark using the iPad, I can do it on the laptop but not on iPad. Have been trying all day, I am going insane!

You need to open Safari, and go to Google Maps. (maps.google.com) It should open the Mobile version ( not the classic version that you see on your laptop) .

You also need to make sure that location services is enabled for Google - when you go to maps you'll probably get a pop-up asking if it's OK for Google to use your Location. Say yes.

Then in the top menu, tap on the the icon that looks like a square with an arrow popping out of it. This opens a box in which you should be able to choose, Add to Home screen.

It should place an icon on your home screen for Google maps.

Thanks Ancona, I have it installed and an icon on the home screen. I just can't seem to use it, I can't "drop a pin".

Sorry, Battymum I misunderstood you. No, I'm afraid that you can no longer drop a pin :-( It's one of the things that was available in the old App but can't be done in the Safari/Mobile version. I REALLY miss it . Particularly because you could just drop a pin and then go straight into Street View ( which I used a lot)

I'm hoping that updated versions of Apple Maps may bring it back. OR that they will bring back the Google Maps App.
