Goofy's Kitchen: When Would You Go

My husband and I and our two sons, ages 4 and 2, will be meeting my in-laws for three days at the parks in November! We'll be getting into SNA around 11 a.m. on a Wednesday, and they fly home out of LAX on Saturday at 1 p.m. I really want to have a meal at Goofy's Kitchen! If this were your itinerary, which meal and day would you do the Goofy's Kitchen meal and why? We can do it any time on Thursday or Friday, but we could also do it on Wednesday for lunch or dinner as a sort of "introduction" to our trip, or we could try to do it on Saturday breakfast as a sort of farewell! (We're not planning to go to the parks that morning.)

I would do it for the saturday breakfast. The breakfast at Goofy's is very good, huge selection and very good quality food. I've never tried the other meals, but have heard the quality is not up to par with the breakfast.

Also this will allow you to take your time eating if you go early enough and not be in a rush to go to the park, plus im sure one last taste of disney as you leave will be nice!!!

We did dinner last month and both the food and interaction with the characters was great. My daughter (4) was especially excited to see Sleeping Beauty and my son (6) had a great time as well. We ate until we were stuffed! They have a good selection of food items for adults and kids. Have fun!

If you are not going to the parks on Saturday, I would do it for breakfast that day. I really enjoy the brunch there. If you can get a late seating that would be nice. Seems to be less crowded and more charatcer interaction. At least when I have gone its been that way.

I like the idea of Saturday morning, too. Not feeling the need to rush out to get in extra park time would be great! One more question: how much time would you allot to the meal there? I want to make sure to allow enough time so that we don't feel rushed through our meal to make the bus to the airport!

You are allowed 90 minutes at Goofy's - not that they come along and push you out the door when the 90 minutes are up, but that is the time limit.

I agree with everyone else - a late breakfast (but not TOO late - you don't want to miss the characters) on a Saturday sounds like the perfect way to end the trip. The breakfast/brunch buffet is great - huge selection, awesome fruit and bacon and Mickey-shaped cobbler and all kinds of goodies! Good stuff!

If people are flying out of LAX at 1 p.m., a 10:30 brunch sounds too late. If they need to LEAVE for the airport at 1, it would be fine. I always have to work backward in my mind to figure this sort of stuff out.

The poster who made the 10:30 reservation was different than the OP (me!) who has family flying out of LAX at 1 p.m. Me, I was thinking we should make our reservations for maybe 8:00.

I was pretty stisfied with an hour there, got to see lots of characters and get pictures with them and had plenty of time to gorge myself on all of the food.

Make sure you try the PB&J pizza, it sounds like an odd dish but totally worth it

OK, bumping this up as our trip gets closer and the hours of operation have been posted.

Our trip is Nov. 18-21, the week before Thanksgiving, traditionally a really dead time. We're getting into SNA around noon on Wednesday and plan to go to the park that afternoon/evening. We'll have full days at the park on Thursday and Friday. DL is open until 8 p.m on Wednesday, from 10 - 8 on Thursday, and from 8 to midnight on Friday.

We'll be going with my two ages (aged 4 and 2) and my in-laws. I would love to do Goofy's Kitchen -- I think my kids would LOOOOVE it -- but I don't know when would be the best time. Thursday morning we'll have the Magic Morning entry, so we could get into the park at 9. Honestly, I think my kids and my in-laws both would have trouble getting to the DLH for a 7:00 PS. Same problem with the park's early hours on Friday.

Should I forget breakfast and decide to do it for a lunch or dinner instead? Should I just do it for breakfast on Friday and forget about trying it be at the park right at opening since the crowds will likely be light that week?

(My in-laws need to make a flight home out of LAX on Saturday morning, so they've already said no breakfast then.)

We ate breakfast at Goofys on our travel home day and I really recommend doing it. We had a PS for about 9:30. What we found was that most everyone who was in there got there early so they could eat and then head to the parks. The restaurant was pretty empty for the later part of our breakfast and we had lots of one on one time with the characters. Since we didn't go into the park (travel home day), it was a nice way to end our trip and still have that Disney feel.

I have not done dinner there so I don't have any advice to give you on that.

Coincidentally, we are also arriving on Nov. 18th but leaving on the 23rd!

We opted to do dinner when they open on Friday. We decided to do that for two reasons. A) the parks are typically less crowded in the mornings so we want to use that time to ride as much as we can. B) the parks are open late on Fridays. So we figured if we go to the parks for most of the day, and then go to Dinner, it will be a nice break and allow us to sit and rest before going back to the parks to catch fireworks and the later fantasmic show.

That's what we're doing in December; just made our PS for 11:30 on the day we leave. I thought the same as you ... end the trip with a little Disney magic. We don't get picked up until 2pm so should still have plenty of time to do some last minute shopping in DTD while walking back to the hotel to get our luggage.
