Goofy's Great Birthday Bash NEW 6/2 page 34

I'm with ya on that looooooooooooooong bus ride for those resorts. I once took the bus from DTD to the Dolphin and it took forever! When we stay in those resorts, I'll have to budget in the cab cost for AK and DTD.

wdw09211.jpg

Isn't that guy neat?! We saw him at DTD and loved the show!

And what a very magical night on the Breathless! It had to be SO HARD to keep that secret!!! I bet you were just bursting with excitement during dinner too!

I'm so glad you pulled the surprise off w/out a hitch. The entire evening just sounds so lovely! Yay for special bonding moments with your Goof. :yay:

Goof will remember that forever - zooming around the lake, experiencing total "grown-up" freedom and fun while having the safety and comfort of his Mom by his side - what a great surprise!

Can't wait to see what is next!

Jaime

The Breathless is a beautiful boat! What a hard secret to keep. I'm glad both of you had a wonderful evening together.

This picture cracks me up - it looks like Goofy is being swallowed by the lifejacket!

Your time on the Breathless sounds amazing! It's so great that you were able to keep it a surprise until the very last minute.

Your stroll back to BWI sounds wonderful too. I wish for moments like that with my boys - I need to work to find some time to spend one on one with them too.
He was about to be swallowed by that monster. I think it got bigger as the night went on. ;)

It was a great treat! I am thinking of booking it again this December with Aladdin but only if a few of the other surprises I am hoping to throw together don't work out. I want him to have his own special surprise and if he ends up doing the same thing as Goofy, it won't be quite as surprising. ;)

The one on one time has made all of the planning and money spent worth it. Having the time to just enjoy each of them as their own person has been the best gift I could have ever given myself (and I am not even the one celebrating a birthday there). I hope you are able to squeeze in a little mom and son time for each of the boys soon! :)

What a wonderful sweet surprise for Goofy! He looks so happy :cloud9: Those are memories that will fill your hearts a lifetime!
He was so happy. I was so happy. It was the sort of thing that both of us will never forget. The entire birthday trip idea has turned into one of my favorite ways to do Disney ever. Although, I have to admit, I cannot wait to get back to big everyone is there vacations either. I cherish the time with one of them but miss the others terribly at the same time. ;)

What a wonderful surprise for Goofy, and what "quality" time and special memories you made together. :)
I love the moments that surprise you in their specialness. Who would have thought a walk back AFTER the surprise would be just as amazing of a memory as a surprise birthday Illuminations cruise. But...it really was! :cloud9:

oh the breathless sounds wonderful! What a great evening!
It was wonderful! I would love to experience Illuminations that way again!

The Breathless is absolutely exquisite. I would love to go on it (and go fast!!) We're going on a Wishes cruise in December and I'm excited to experience the fireworks from that perspective.
You will LOVE the Wishes cruise! Our family doing that actually ranks in my top Disney moments of all time. It was wonderful!

Wonderful surprise!! :goodvibes
 Thanks! It took a lot of planning and lip biting (not to spill the beans early) to get it from the spark of an idea into reality but it was oh so worth it!

You are DA MOM! What a wonderful tme for the two of you. That ride had to right up Goof's alley. What boy would not like going fast all over the lake and have feeling of flying? I know the CM's are paid to do what they do but when they go out of their way to make it so special it means so much to a young man and his momma. Nothing finer than the walk back to the resort with your buddy. Congrats on another fine memory for the two of you.

Ginny
:rotfl: DA MOM:rotfl: You crack me up! It was so much fun and totally right up his alley. The CMs really do go out of their way. It was amazing how incredible they were all vacation long. You have to be a very special person (barring a few rare unpleasent exceptions) to work at WDW! I really admire the CMs who bring such wonderful magic to life and help create such amazing memories for everyone.

Yum! I didn't know they had gingerbread Mickeys. I'm putting that on my list!!!

Your dinner at Flying Fish and your evening watching Illuminations sounded divine!!!
And don't forget, it only uses a single snack credit! I loved how that worked out! Be warned though, it's HUGE by the time they are done with the dipping and topping of it. What started out as a medium sized Mickey cookie ended up as a gigantic sized sweet treat too big to eat in one sitting (and we were sharing it)! I am looking forward to creating another one on our next trip.

What a wonderful trip! Your boys are such gentlemen; I love it! I also like how Goofy is into eating fish and appreciates things other than chicken fingers, which would be my 11 year old brother. Glad to have found your TR; I've read your other ones in the past. Looking forward to more!
Goofy is my little foodie. However, I couldn't get Stitch to eat anything but pizza and hot dogs most meals during his trip. :rotfl: We kept a list of the seafood he got to eat during our trip:
-Flounder
-Snapper
-Grouper
-Salmon
-Crab
-Lobster
-Shrimp
-Clams
-Mussels
-Mahi Mahi
and I think I am missing a few more!

Jay,
Thanks for showing me what a $50 rice crispy treat looks like! :rotfl2: It is cute! I do love rice krispy treats!

The food at FF looked very tasty! That crab cake would have probably been enough on it's own. It looked very rich!

The boat tour had to have been a great surprise for Goofy! It sounded like so much fun. I bet his little face hurt from all the smiling!
Ha ha ha, I know, I was :scared1: at the price tag for a Mickey treat...However, I have a boy who is not cake crazy that I am thinking might just need a giant cookie or krispy Mickey to celebrate with instead! :lmao:

What an awesome surprise!!! I cant believe how close the fireworks were!!
We felt like we could almost reach out and touch the globe (not that we were 'that' close...but it surely did feel like it)! I was so happy with how that surprise turned out!:cool1:

I'm with ya on that looooooooooooooong bus ride for those resorts. I once took the bus from DTD to the Dolphin and it took forever! When we stay in those resorts, I'll have to budget in the cab cost for AK and DTD.

I am glad it's not just me who feels that way about the buses. I thought the buses that came/went to the CSR were much faster and easier to deal with. I thought that the buses at AKL were best of all. However, give me the choice between a cab and a bus and I will pick the cab. ;)

I enjoyed each of the performers along the Boardwalk! That guy was amazing with the things he could balance! I would have hurt myself even trying! ;)

I'm so glad you pulled the surprise off w/out a hitch. The entire evening just sounds so lovely! Yay for special bonding moments with your Goof. :yay:
:cool1: I was so excited that it worked out! :cool1:

Jaime
Awww, Jaime, you say such wonderful things! Thanks!

The Breathless is a beautiful boat! What a hard secret to keep. I'm glad both of you had a wonderful evening together.
I was DYING during dinner. I wanted to spill so badly, but I made myself hold it just a bit longer and was ever so glad that I did!

I'm in! Your trip report is going great so far.
Thank you and WELCOME! It's great to have you here!

Wow your cruise sounds fantastic, especially the high speed part at the beginning :thumbsup2

Wonderful updates and pictures!:goodvibes Seeing Illluminations from the Breathless must have been totally awesome. :woohoo:

Day 3: Off to a Good Start

This morning started like all of the rest, with us enjoying breakfast in the club lounge. We were the only guests there as we enjoyed our morning meal on this day so I felt free to be a bit more snap happy than usual. Ha ha ha.
wdw09248.jpg

So, for those wondering what the breakfast offerings at the BWI are like here is a ton of pictures. Here is the drink station. They had whole milk, skim milk, chocolate milk, orange juice and water out. You could ask for apple juice if you were interested. V8 juice was found near the yogurt and fresh fruit display. Also, they had a coffee, tea and hot chocolate offerings all day in another area of the lounge.
wdw09249.jpg

Four kinds of cereal, yogurt, fruit, V8 juice, pastries, croissants, bagels (with toppings like peanut butter, butter, cream cheese and different jams), grapefruit halves and toast rounded out what was available. They had whole apples, oranges and bananas available as well.

Along with tasty food, the club CMs at the BWI served up some great conversation. Goofy was once again greeted by Lorenzo yelling out his name and hustling over to visit with us while we ate. Once again, I feel the need to point out just how marvelous the staff of the Innkeeper's Club was...PHENOMENAL is actually the word that comes to mind! But, we were on a mission this day so we didn't spend a lot of time hanging out and visiting. On this day we were headed over to the Magic Kingdom to spend our first day in the parks! And...we were excited about it!

Okay looking at all those pictures just made me hungry!!! LOL. I can't wait to hear about your day at MK!!!

Oops I forgot to say how much I LOVED your surprise on the water. The BREATHLESS trip sounded like it was a blast. How special for you and Goofy!!!

(Oh and please tell the Goofster that I am mighty impressed with his seafood list)!!!

Day 3: Finally, A PARK DAY! Part 1

This morning found us taking a cab over to the Contemporary and then walking over to MK. It was much quicker than a bus would have been and I was happy not to have any unwanted stops between us and our first park of the trip. We arrived at Mickey's place (what Goofy used to call MK when he was younger) at just after 9:00 AM and walked right in. When I say 'walked right in', I mean we literally saw only a few other guests around and didn't even have to wait in line at the bag check area! Here's our first park picture of the trip.
wdw09257.jpg

wdw09258.jpg

It was amazingly EMPTY as we walked toward Fantasyland (our first stop for the day). As we walked by Belle's story area, the evil stepmother called us over. She was trying to marry Goofy off to one of her daughters. When Goofy said he was not interested in finding a wife, she told him it didn't matter so much what he wanted so long as he was good enough for her daughters there was match to be made. I laughed and laughed and somewhere along the way pointed out that he was too young for them (which didn't matter to them a bit). Goof took all of the attention very well and only turned a few shades of red as a result of all of the match making.
wdw09259.jpg

I managed to pull my son away just in time to save him from marrying into such an evil family and walked with him on toward Fantasyland. As we walked up to our first ride, the tea cups, we saw that nobody was on it!
wdw09260.jpg

By the time we had finished walking over and picked out tea cup, we found ourselves sharing our ride with only two other tea cups full of guests! I was definitely NOT complaining, but I was scratching my head and wondering where the rest of the park goers were...at least until we started to spin around and around and around. When we started to spin my mind was 100% on having fun!
wdw09261.jpg

We had so much dizzy fun the first time that we stayed on for a second go round.

wdw09262.jpg

After the tea cups we hit Snow White, Pooh and Peter Pan. Not only didn't we find any lines...we were seriously *almost* alone at WDW!
wdw09264.jpg

wdw09265.jpg

wdw09266.jpg

Look at how empty it was! After enjoying the parts of Fantasyland we wanted to ride, Goofy chose to head over to ride his favorite ride, Splash Mountain. Once again, I took pictures along the way to show just how empty MK really was.
wdw09267.jpg

And a few just to show the details that add so much to the park.
wdw09268.jpg

wdw09273.jpg

Nobody is on that log!
wdw09274.jpg

We did find a very awesome someone hanging out along the path.
wdw09276.jpg

Even after stopping to visit with Donald, we had the rest of the walk over to Splash Mountain to ourselves.
wdw09278.jpg

So of course, I took even more pictures. Ha ha ha.

Day 3: Finally a PARK DAY! Part 2

And here the pictures stop for a bit while we took full advantage of the low (lowest I have ever seen) crowds and rode Splash Mountain three times in a row without getting off! Finally we figured we better get off and enjoy more of the park. On our way off, we grabbed a fast pass for a later ride on Goofy's favorite ride and scooted over and rode BTMRR as a walk on at almost 11:00 AM!

We walked over to Adventureland seeing only a few more guests than we had seen earlier! There was no line for the Flying Carpets so we hopped right on.
wdw09284.jpg

Once again, I went a bit snap happy. I just love the look of Adventureland!
wdw09287.jpg

wdw09289.jpg

Upon exiting the flying carpet ride, Goofy wanted to do a bit of shopping so we stopped in the Agrabah Bazaar. He did some shopping and then answered the trivia question that was written on a chalk board behind the register. He was able to name Aladdin's first wish (to be a prince)and after doing so he got to pick out a few (plastic) jewels and got his very own certificate. Here is the CM who took the time to quiz him. Once again, a friendly CM added to the fun we were having.
wdw09292.jpg

wdw09293.jpg

PoTC and the Jungle Cruise were the last two rides we crammed in before lunch. Our morning had been very productive, with so few people in the park, we had been on everything we had planned to ride in one day in just a few hours in the morning. We rode rides as quickly as we could walk to them! It was a great morning!

Yummy looking food. Don would be in total heaven with those danish things. I swear he and Mike and Tim have contests on the cruises to see who can eat the most. Austin wanted to pack up a suitcase full to bring home. They will all be your son and you can take turns taking them. Of course since Don and Mike are over 60 people might look at you a little strangely. They would love you forever tho.

My favorite park coming up. I'm anxious to see what Goof wants to do first.

I know you have a lot of pull with the Disney people, but to get an empty park. You rock. Some crowds are fun tho, especially when people watching but to be able to ride what you want and as many times as you want. Way To Go. That had to be such fun. I'm like you I love Adventureland. The way they have gone from one ride to another. Like I know, get ready for it.......................

It's coming................................................

Are you ready?

It's a Whole New World.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Ginny

That had to be a dream come true to practically have a park to yourself. You picked the best time of year to go down there!

WOW....that was an empty park Jay, kinda eery in a way. :confused3 LOL. How neat that you were able to get in all those rides in such a short amount of time though!!!!

That's a very nice breakfast spread at BWI!!!

I cannot believe how empty the park was! I've seen low crowds, but wow, that was impressive!
