Day 3: At Liberty to Have Lunch
Within a few minutes of entering the Liberty Tree Tavern, we were shown to our seats. Our meal started off with one of my favorite appetizers of the trip, blue crab, spinach, cream cheese, tomato dip with flat bread wedges for dipping. It was TO-DROOL-FOR-GOOD! And being as it was an appetizer made for two the two of us had no trouble sharing it.
I really wish I had just ordered that as my meal. It was so good I didn't want to stop eating it but made myself stop in order to leave room for my main course. I chose the New England Pot Roast. It was braised beef in a cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetables. It was a solid choice but paled in comparison to the crab spinach dip I had just been munching on a few minutes earlier.
For his main course,
Goofy went with the kid's pizza and fruit salad(being as their was not a kid's fish entrée on the menu). He said it was tasty but wished we had more of the crab dip as well.
Although neither of us had much room left for dessert, we happily took a few nibbles of our top picks.
Goofy picked the kid's ice cream sundae. Mine was the caramel apple tart which was sugared apples in a shortbread crust and cinnamon ice cream.
After lunch we had a few more rides to check off before we were ready to head back to the BWI. First up on our after lunch ride schedule? A tour of a haunted mansion!
After our spooky tour, we opted for heading back up to the front of the park instead of walking back to use our fast passes for Splash Mountain, instead, we handed off our fast passes to a passing couple and cut through Fantasyland on our way to the front of the park. As we passed through, we stopped and saw Mickey's Philharmagic. Sitting there watching the jewels 'fly' out over the head's of the guests seated in front of us, I couldn't help but remember the sweet memories of my little guys all mesmerized by the
floating jewels tumbling toward them that were still out of their reach. I could almost see their little hands reach up and grab for the jewels and the amazed looks on their faces. When I glanced at
Goofy, he had his hand up and sort of poking in the general path of the jewels flight. I sighed out loud and smiled, I was glad that even with how fast he was growing and how much he was changing his hand still shot up to try and touch a jewel.
On our way out, I snapped some of my very favorite pictures from the entire trip. I love how happy he looks in these!
My
Goof and
the Goof.
One final character meeting before we left.
We did not take the bus back to the BWI. Instead, we just hopped on the nearest water taxi and got off at the GF (since it was the first stop). Once there we each grabbed a bottle of water using snack credits and then hopped into a waiting cab. Even with the boat ride tacked on, it was so much faster. I was happy to be able to spend the money to avoid the headache (which it is for me) of riding the buses.

Here's a picture of
Goofy on the ride over to the GF.
Upon our return to the BWI, we stopped by the lounge and gulped down even more water. Maybe that crab dip had a high salt content? Whatever the reason, Goofy and I were both very thirsty on this afternoon. The CMs in the lounge offered us a large glass bottle of Evian water to take back to our room. I thought that was very thoughtful. Going straight across the hall, we entered our room and quickly changed into our swimsuits.
The rest of our afternoon was spent enjoying an almost empty BWI pool. We both enjoyed the water slide. It feels like it goes on forever! That slide was a whole lot of fun! By the time we got out of the water, we were both starting to resemble raisins.
Up next: A surprise that was surprisingly fun!
