Day 2...One Delicious Dinner!
Once we were ready, we had only minutes to walk from our room door to our dinner table. On this night, we would be dining at the Flying Fish. It was a meal that I had high hopes for as I had read many positive reviews. Let's just start out by saying that I was NOT disappointed.
When he came to take our orders, the server brought us a cone (their basket was cone shaped) of bread and some fresh butter. The bread was warm, crusty and very good.
Goofy's first course was actually offered as a dessert on the children's meal, but he was able to mix and match as he wanted. He chose fresh fruit skewers (very fresh and juicy) with yogurt dip.
I chose to go with yet another crab cake.

Yes, I may just be addicted to those things!

And this one was no disappointment! It tasted as good as it looked. I always love edible flowers and they really dressed this dish up! The crab cake was crispy on the outside and moist and full of huge crab chunks on the inside. I did end up pushing off most of the sauce that was glopped down the side but it was tasty also (just too much of it for my tastes).
Our main courses were very tasty. I chose one of the signature dishes. Potato-wrapped red snapper that was served with cream leek fondue, beef glacé and red wine butter sauce. The fish was perfectly done.
Goofy chose the kid's snapper skewers and they were served with green beans. He thought eating fish on a stick was fun. I was happy to see my little sea food monster being able to enjoy some very fresh sea food.
And then came dessert (which we barely had any room for at all).
Goofy chose to have the kid's white chocolate paint-able puzzle accompanied by a chocolate cupcake and topped with fresh vanilla bean ice cream, gummy worms, mini oreos (for the mouse ears) and sprinkles. Since the IPO had left a note in our reservation noting that he was celebrating a birthday, his plate also had an edible happy birthday sign on it.
I was so stuffed that I went very light on dessert. I chose the trio of gelatos. My server was wonderful and allowed me to mix and match the gelatos that were available in other desserts with the one that came standard in the gelato dessert itself. I ended up with pineapple, coconut and raspberry. It was very tasty! The fresh berries and vanilla sugar biscuits also added a lot to the dish. I wish I could have eaten every bite but contented myself with a few very delicious bites of all of the flavors which ended up working so well together!
After dinner, we made our way outside (we may have rolled, I felt like I needed to for sure). We happily saw one of the boardwalk performers starting in on a show as we walked out of the Flying Fish so we paused for a minute to watch.
The performer 'spoke' in short whistle sounds and balanced things on his head. Knives, brooms and finally a basketball hoop that he kept extending.
Somehow he was able to get small basketballs into that tiny hoop while balancing the hoop on a pole on his forehead. I was wondering, how one might develop that skill!
One last look back at one of our new favorite places to eat.
