Goofy Support Group (AKA Goofy Challenge 2010)

JEANNE!

Susie... nope. no race except the 10K Tracy has planned for us :thumbsup2 I have not had a b2b in a while now so that is a worry. My 2 long outdoor days are a day apart typically. and HA! With all your races, I'm hoping to keep everyone in view. You all are getting some excellent training with different courses. Lots of pre-race practice with fueling up and refueling on the courses.

I'm looking forward to all the action! I don't know if I've mentioned it but I do all my long days without .... my ipod. Mostly so I can hear when a bike is sneaking up on me. I'm really looking forward to doing miles with people, music, bands, exciting things to see besides turkeys LOL Don't get me wrong, I love my park and everyone is usually great but I've been finishing my miles in the dark and since I finish so late typically one of the last ones on the path. So Marathon Weekend is going to seem like a moving party :woohoo:

Training to finish! :thumbsup2 oh and I finally used my inhaler this weekend, can't recall if I mentioned that but it went well and I thought it really helped.

Skipped the gym tonight. I didn't sleep well last night. I was wide awake past 1 am and then kept waking up. Add in a corgi who thinks its fine for her to relocate to my pillow at 3 am.

What's up Goofy's? Looks like everyone is doing great!

Jeanne - Thanks for the encouragement!!! I know I will need it out there come January!

Oh, the crazy things we do for a piece of metal to wear around our necks.

Honestly - the only thing that keeps me committed to this whole Goofy idea is the thought of wearing those 3 medals around my neck on Monday!

Whoooo Hoooooo!!!! 42 more days!

I printed out the marathon map and I'm visualizing each mile as I'm training.

Oh, gosh - you got THAT right!

I've got a half this coming Sunday.....should I put in some miles the day before....or add in some miles that same day? (please don't say both.....)

...and Tuesday, and Wednesday, and Thursday, etc. IF, no...make that WHEN I complete the Goofy, I'll be wearing those babies around my neck for a while. I wonder if my students will notice. :teeth:

I got my new part today.:woohoo::cool1::cheer2:

By the time DH fitted it and got my disk break to work i didn't have long to crank, so I only got in 13.5 miles. My ride was a little unstable!!!

The new part needed to be "turned up" but to save money I did not get the one that you can do as you roll, so it had to be done when I got back.

My disk was still sticking when it felt like it, so that needed another look at too.

By the time this was done it was way to late to go out a try them, so that will have to wait until tomorrow.......but at least i'm back on the raod.

Had yesterday off. Today was an nothing much. Just getting it done.

Good job everyone. It is great to come and see how everyone is doing.

Marcia where did you get the maps, I think I might use the visualize technic for my 18M coming up.

Thanks

Skipped the gym Tuesday night. No treadmill work out for me cause....

I RAN 5 miles around my block last night :woohoo: Took me something like 1:09 to do my miles. I am not sure on exact miles/pace because for the 1st two miles it said I was running at 14:01-ish and typically when I run on the treadmill it's the 13's (4.6 on the TM) and when I do my intervals at the park (with inclines!) it ranges between 11:30 and 12:30. So I want to drive the car on the route I took last night and compare. LOL

back to work...

KIM!!! Red start, blue start no matter what there WILL be green everywhere

Checking in - did 19 miles this morning. Much, much better than the 18 on Saturday. I am flying to Vegas tomorrow and didn't want to do a long run the first morning I'm there. Besides, this will give me a little rest time before the Vegas race. I'll do an 8 mile run and maybe a couple of 5 or 6 miles during the week.

Hang in there all, getting real close now

Duane

Just did 24 miles, too slow to post the time.:sad2:

Had to come home half way through and change out my wheels, one of the lads in the shop over turned my wheel and has broken the pin that holds it in my chair, so i'm back in my training ones.:sad1:

Will be calling Phil on monday to see if they can get in fixed in time for Palm Beach.

Got the virtual Turkey Trot done today. It was a beautiful day. I'm feeling it tonight. Went for a 2 mile walk with Kirby Dog right after I got the 10 k done. Made turkey dinner and ate and had jello dessert. Yum. I'm tired.

Reporting in...

Wed: 5 mile walk, 10 mile bike ride
Thurs (Thanksgiving): 15 mile bike ride
Today, Friday: 6 mile walk
Tomorrow: Hopefully, 8 miles W/R

I did the WDW marathon 2 years ago. I'm about a minute slower/mile now than I was then. :( Back then, I was up to walking 3 minutes and running 2 minutes for quite a few miles then cutting back to walking 3, running 1. I can't even do that now. Ugh! Gotta think positive!

Busy week! I got in my 18 miles on tuesday which went well and tomorrow I need to do 13. Ah, an easy 13 miles! I love step back weeks :)

Reporting in:

W14D5 Goofy training: Anne and I biked 16 miles at the gym. Up tomorrow - 16 miles. Thankfully the weather looks perfect.

Good morning one and all! I have been traveling for the Thanksgiving weekend, so not much time for keeping up here, or, training...

I managed 16 + miles on Sunday with an average pace of...12:40!!! I can't believe that one, and don't expect that to happen again..just a fluke I guess. It was only 3 weeks ago I was wondering if I could break 13 minutes!!

Monday I had 30 minutes with the trainer followed by an hour or so on the elliptical. Tuesday--very early!! I got on my TM for a hill workout before we hit the road. Wednesday I did about 30 mins of strength training, but no cardio. Thursday--total rest day. From training anyway. We are staying at my cousin's house and she was having 17 people for dinner on Thurs. I could have skipped out to train, but would have felt a bit guilty. And, thought spending time with the family was important too. Another 30 minute strength session yesterday, followed by 4 miles on the TM. Hopefully I will get at least another 4 in today. Travel day tomorrow, so no training likely. Moved my long walk to Monday--only 8 miles this week.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend and managing to get some training in.
