Goodbye Nescafe coffee ... Hello Joffrey's

Any word yet WHEN?? We are starting to buy things for our trip, and have to start stocking up on the Starbucks VIA packets if not.

Just back from a week at Boardwalk Villas (through 4/21/13). Same old in room "coffee" packets supplied. Tried to buy coffee at the Screen Door store, but same old "Mickey's Coffee" can of ground coffee. Couldn't find any Joffrey's coffees to purchase and have for in room coffee maker.

Did see it at the Store/gift shop in the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House. But that was the only place I saw it. Note: I didn't get to look at Downtown Disney, but at this point if not staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, I'd pack my own coffee to bring.

My husband and mother love the Nescafe coffee at WDW and keep talking about the "Disney Coffee". They are going to be disappointed it is going away. I am not a coffee drinker so it doesn't make a difference to me. But they LOVED the coffee in WDW.

If I do bring my own coffee, what kind of coffee pots are in the room? Little drip type, standard drip type, or kuereg type?

AKL and AKV had a standard size drip coffee machine in the DVC rooms. Seems like CBR had the same/similar machines.

One year I brought my own coffee and sugar to use in the coffee maker in the room. I even had water from home that I used to make coffee since we always travel with plenty of water. Anywho, the coffee was not as good because of the coffee maker. The last few trips I have taken my own coffee maker. :)

Said coffee maker has all but died and I refuse to pay $100-300 for a coffee machine....

So I bought a stainless steel funnel and a quart Pyrex "cup" which I fill with water and put in the microwave. 7.5 minutes heats the water to around 200 degrees which I then pour over the coffee basket sitting in the funnel which pours into the coffee pot. :scared1: The Pyrex "cup" and SS funnel were $20 and just a wee bit cheaper than a brand new coffee maker. :lmao: The coffee is much better than what the old coffee maker produced.

It will be much easier to take my coffee making gear to WDW next time! :lmao: I just need to take the funnel, the coffee pot, basket, Pyrex cup, and a thermometer to figure out own long the microwave takes to heat up the water. :coffee:

I did love getting up before dawn and wondering around the resort to get my coffee from Mara. Something really peaceful about the resorts when few people are out and about. But that "coffee" they served is disgusting along with the non dairy creamer. :scared1: It is really nice sitting on the balcony at AKL/AKV as the sunrises watching/listening to the critters while sipping on coffee and my breakfast. :thumbsup2

<sigh> The wait is long for our next visit home....

Later,
Dan

Has Joffrey's replaced Nescafe in the parks yet? We never learned of a date WHEN this would happen. All we heard was that it would.

Someone who has very recently visited please respond. Thanks!

It's always been in the parks.:-)

It's replaced it in a few resorts, not all yet, sadly.

My machine at Akl recently was drip, but had two single cup sides. You poured a cups worth of water into each side,it dripped into the cup.

We only made tea with it.

Thanks for the response! Glad to hear its in the parks already. CAN'T STAND NESCAFE. :crazy2: It was truly the only reason I didn't like staying at WDW for a week.

Any idea what resorts they still serve Nescafe?

Hi. Almost all the rooms are standard drip type (flat bottom filters) 12 cup. Some of the rooms in the deluxe resorts are Keurig's. (saw them in the Boardwalk inn)

Talked to a Joffrey's mgr at Epcot (kiosk just to the left of World Showcase Promenade). Joffreys is now in the table service rest. and will be in the counter service soon. Still saw Nescafe in the QS as of 5/14 and the self serve sites in EC. Joffrey's everywhere at WDW can't come too soon for me!

Forgive my ignorance, but what's the difference taste wise between French and Columbian? I always buy Columbian for home.

French Blend is a dark roasted coffee blend. It has a really strong flavour but with creamer/milk or sugar, you can dilute the strong taste. :)

yes its the degree of roast that the beans get.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_roasting#Degree_of_roasting

there are only two major varieties of coffee beans, Arabica and the Robusta.

colombian coffee means thats where its grown. though coffee, like grapes for wine, have different flavor depending where they are grown aka Terroir.

My husband, kiddo, and I were at ALL STAR MOVIES in Sept 2013 and wondering if it was still NESCAFE? We're are thinking it had to have been because we had to add hot chocolate to it to get it down. It was really bad. REALLY bad. We are excited to have good coffee this year!!!
