Heading to Myrtle Beach on Sunday and staying at the Sea Watch in N. Myrtle Beach. If anyone has a restaurant recommendation, I would appreciate it. I've been reading on trip advisor but opinions are all over the place. Can't please everyone I guess. Thanks.

Edited to add, there will be 12 of us, including children.

Several people I know, for years, have raved about the Carolina Road House.

Just for a "snack", my cousin told me about a place in Barefoot Landing where the guy makes his own ice cream AND soda. She said it was VERY good. Wish I could remember the name...Sorry.

Cheasapeake House on HWY 17. Be sure to get some cinnamon rolls (homemade on site) and look for the alligators!!

Also, Bennett's on HWY 17. IMHO, this is the best buffett in town. Also, River City Cafe and California Pizza are good for something other than seafood.

If you want to drive a bit further (but not very far), go to Calibash in NC. There are several seafood restaurants there that get VERY fresh seafood, as in right off the boat!!

That is all I can think of right now, as far as the best of my favorites. If anything else comes to mind I will post again. MB and NMB have soooooo many good restaurants!

Ditto the PP. Also--the drive down to Murrel's Inlet is well worth it for seafood. Not a bad restaurant to be had on the Inlet strip and it is also VERY fresh seafood.

As a note--if anyone in your party is allergic to peanuts, skip River City Cafe. They have(or used to have) barrels of roasted peanuts for patrons to snack on. Haven't been there in many years but it was the fashion to throw your shells anywhere. With more allergy awareness, they may have discontinued this. Maybe someone else has been ther more recently.

We love Greg Norman's Australian Grill in Barefoot Landing. The food is incredible!

Wow, thanks everyone. I'll look into these!

The Sea Watch Inn is in Myrtle beach, not NMB. (unless I am mistaken). There is a difference. It can get confusing because there is NMB and in MB beach the addressess are N & S in MB. Hwy 17 is known as Resturaunt row. Also there are great rest. in Barefoot Landing and in Broadway. The OP suggested Calabash. Its a pretty good drive from MB but they do have great resturants. You might also want to check out Market Commons. You can google it and find out alot about this place. Lots of shopping and resturants. My favorite place to go and hang out, it beautiful. I love it there!!! Have fun!:)

I think the resort is in between Broadway and Barefoot, but closer to Barefoot Landing. I know there are lots of restaurants there. I hadn't heard of the Market Commons but I will check it out.

Another vote for Bennett's Calabash Buffet. Tons of buffet items and they make these little hushpuppies that are sweet and you dip them in melted butter. Oh my goodness, they are GOOD!!! They have three locations.

If you venture down to the Myrtle Beach area there is a place called Angelo's. From the outside it doesn't look to impressive but they have EXCELLENT steak and a really tasty Italian buffet. It's about a 25 minute drive from N. Myrtle but well worth it.

Have a great trip! :)

I was just there in May. I alos highly recommend the River City Cafe! We ate at the one at Barefoot Landing. Man, that was a good cheeseburger! Adn definitley cheaper than Five Guys. We got onion rings for an app. Homemade and mighty tasty. They do still have the peanuts.

Even though they're chains, I also recommend the Olive Garden right below Barefoot Landing (neat Tanger Outlet I think) and the Outback Steakhouse in North Myrtle, on 17 right below the Cherry Grove exit. We had excellent meals at both places.

For seafood, we ate at the Seafood Hut in Calabash. I had the lg flounder plate for $13 (lg was only a dollar more than the small and you got twice as much fish!), and my sister got the fried shrimp special for $7 (they have cheap specials every day). Nothign fancy about the place, and they're usually a line, but I'd go back in a heartbeat.

California Dreaming is also close to where you'll be staying. Their menu is online. We ate there last week and it was good. Our worst meal was at Preston's, right next to Barefoot Landing. Landry's was good at Broadway. DNiece got the shrimp po boy and it was huge. I had mahi mahi which was very good. Our best meal was at Damon's (chicken, bbq and ribs cooked perfectly!)but it is far to the south (by the airport, we stayed down that way) and I don't know if you'll want to drive that far. It is also right on the water which was cool. Probably 17th street, I think.

ETA - Dick's is also at BL; food is average (burgers, ribs, chicken). If you have a lively group that are a bunch of good sports and not easily offended, it could be fun, especially for teenagers. Waiters make fun of you, they make butcher paper "hats" and basically "peform. When we went there was a band playing.

WOW--Yes--California Dreaming has fabulous food. I didn't realize they had opened a location at the beach. Their steaks, chicken and salads are incredible and you can't miss those croissants..(drooling)...

I second going to Calabash but I love Beck's more than the Seafood Hut. Everytime i've ate there it's greasy-but there are so many choices everyone will have a fave. Tony's Pizza is great too. But my fave is The Boundary House. Their food is wonderful-we eat Thanksgiving dinner there every year. I'm heading down there tomorrow and will probably eat at least one of these while there. Enjoy your trip and stay safe.

We actually leave Friday for N. Myrtle Beach. We are staying at Beach Cove Resort and it's tradition that we eat at Hamburger Joe's. Get the burger all the way, it is fantastic. It is right down the road from Beach cove. Hope this helps.

Not sure how far Captain George's is from where you are staying but we loved the one in Virgina Beach. There is one in Myrtle Beach. As with any buffet at the beach they aren't too cheap. But dang, they are good! I don't eat seafood or fish and they had plenty for me.

I have such fond memories of the Chesapeake House from when I was a kid. Glad it is still around. It's been over 25 years since I have been there.

We used to order hush puppies and feed the leftovers to the turtles and alligators. They probably forbid that now. Hmmm, I don't see hush puppies on their menu, maybe it was the restaurant next door that served them. We used to go to both. Or they just don't make them anymore.

We used to eat at the Sea Captain's House as well.

Not sure if it is any good anymore, but it is the same owners and my dad loved the seafood there.

Have any of you gone to the Fire Island Grill. The menu online looks great. I'll check out California Dreaming too!! Great suggestions, thank you!

We ate there last year and enjoyed it, and the atmosphere was pretty neat too. In Barefoot Landing, I also recommend Umberto's. It's great for groups cause you get pasta, soup, and salad for the table (included with the meal) so you can each order an entree and have more than enough food.

We always go to Chuck's Steakhouse:thumbsup2 The food and service are great. The prices are reasonable and there's never a wait for a table:cool1:
