Good Family Wii Games

We enjoy Mario Kart and Wii Sports. We box each other and it's a blast ;)

We just bought our Wii so we haven't experimented with many games yet.

Big Brain Academy - a little bit of education too! Check on ebay to find used games of all sorts.

The kids love Wii Music, Wii Sports. Don't know how old your kids are, but if they are really young DD3 and DD2 both play and love the Diego games. I hate to say this, but DD6 rented Wii Cheer from the library and loved it. She would do anything, in terms of chores, to play it. Looked like good exercise. DD3 and wife competed against her too.

We love to play all the Wii sports games together!

We all play Sports (mostly tennis and bowling) and Mario Kart together.

DS and DH love the Lego adventures (Star Wars and Indiana Jones.) - But I see you're hoping for less expensive ones, and those are still pricey so far.

I did get a good deal on one called Cranium Kabooki, but DS8 finds it too hard. If your kids are older, though, it's pretty fun - and throws in some brain exercise. (You need at least 4 people, as it is a team game.)

wii play is great... it's a lot of fun for all ages.. ds4 really likes mario kart (i like it too!)... my parents just got us something called outdoor adventure (i think) and it comes with a mat you run and jump on... we just got it friday, so we have only played once, but both kids loved it! even the dd2 can figure it out because it is just running and jumping on the mat... most of the games on it don't require a controller other than the mat...

it's a lot of fun!

I don't think you're going to find many Wii games that are cheap unfortunately. You might look at a GameStop or somewhere that resells games if you want to try and find them affordably.

We love the Mario Games, especially Mario Kart & Mario Party. Carnival Games is fun. The Price is Right. Madden 09 Football. Unfotunately I can't remember all the games we have since we have about 12.

Another vote for Diego's safari adventure. It is the only game DS 3 likes besides Wii Fit running. My daughter 5 loves Samba Di Amigo. It is really cute.

Diego is about 19 dollars and Samba is about 15.

Two thumbs up for both of those. DS liked to watch the cars game but it was a little too difficult for him.

For a whole family game I pick Samba but Diego is perfect for the preschool age set.

I'm addicted to Wii Fit myself. I love it and have lost about 12 pound sice New Years!

As for cheap games, we often see them for $10 or $20 at Walmart. They may not be games you have heard of, ut they are really fun. The other day for Valentines Day, DH and I were going out so we got the kids a gameshow game for $10 and they love it. I am going to go get M&Ms race car at Target tomorrow, it is $10 advertized this week.

So far though I'd say Sports and Fit are our favorites, oh, and Guitar Hero (but not cheap). The younger 2 love Carnival Games.

My kids and I like Wii Outdoors. Sometimes we laugh so hard we must pause the game.

I don't have suggestions as far as games but I will suggest Gamefly. Before Gamefly (and I don't work for them), we would buy games and then decide we didn't like them. With Gamefly (set up like Netflix), we can play games and then send them back. You can also buy games and we do have a few favorites (Mario Cart being one of them). We keep two games out at once and I can't tell you how much it has helped keep costs down. You do pay a monthly fee but it's been well worth it.

Well, I think a LOT depends on your LO's ages and ability levels (familiarity with gaming, etc).

My experience: I'm *not* a gamer, but I do like the Wii a lot simply because it's so different from other platforms (I prefer to exercise more than my thumbs!). I have 2 girls, now 2.75yo and 6yo. We've had the Wii for approx. 1.5yrs now, and dd#1 has played it pretty much since we got it (so around 4.75yo when she started); dd#2 *just* began playing it this past Christmas, she still doesn't completely get it, but she's tickled to join us anyway!

2.75yo: she can pretty much ONLY play her Diego Safari Rescue game, but it's nicely adapted for the littlest players

6yo: (kind of in order of what she began with):
- Disney Princess Enchanted Journey (not terribly complex, but she still replays it even though it's identical, and it helped develop her Wii remote skills).
- Cosmic Family provided some level of educational content too.
- Carnival gets some play, but she doesn't quite have the skill for it yet, she seems to prefer Carnival Mini Golf which we got for Christmas.
- Littlest Pet Shop is another Christmas gift that's gone over VERY big.
- She also likes the gentle exploration of Endless Ocean, since it doesn't have any time sensitivities, nothing to 'get' her, etc.
- Her latest absolute favorite though has got to be Boom Blox; frankly, we ALL love this one!
- She's also really looking forward to the Dance Dance Revolution Disney Grooves that's coming out at the beginning of April; she is her mother's daughter, LOL!

HTH a bit!

Some of these have already been mentioned.

My two who are 3 and 6 both are able to play the Diego and Dora games independently and even though they have both beaten the games they like to play them over and over.

They LOVE Wii Fit! My youngest even likes doing the yoga poses.

Mario Kart has been a big hit here! The girls love to race against my Dh. And the Battle mode has really helped my oldest with learning to control the remote better.

The Disney Princess game was a hit and my Oldest has completed it but she needed help along the way. My SIL found this one for $20 at Gamestop.

Wii Sports is fun to play as a family, they especially like bowling and tennis.

We just bought Mario Party and Littlest Pet Shop but haven't played them yet.

We have the Carnival games, but it seemed way to sensitive for my little ones to play, they really couldn't control the remote enough.

Also, if you shop at Gamestop and buy the games used, you have a week to decide if you like it if you don't you can bring it back. You can also turn in games you have that your family doesn't like or play anymore for store credit for other games.

Here's another vote for BoomBlox. My 9 and 12 year olds love it. The 6-year-old doesn't as much but she's not really into Wii.

Everyone loves Mario Kart. My 12 year old DS loves all of the Lego games. I got the HSM game that comes with the microphone for DD, but she hasn't played it much.

We gave my son a giftcard to Blockbuster to rent games to try them out over holiday weekends. Might be something to try if you're not sure, or borrow from a friends for a week. It saves your progress on your hard drive, so if you decide to purchase the game, you can start where you left off.
