***gone***

WTH....let's all gang up on the OP b/c she ran over a rooster?!:confused3 Honestly, if that was my rooster we would probably be having chicken and dumplings or mushroom chicken tonight......

Woo hoo, just call tiggger1 the chicken whisper :)

lol! not really, I have raised 16 chickens ( 8 hens/8 Roos) for chicks.. I had 2 die of old age and 1 die of unknown cases.. I have nursed 2 others back to health including a Hen with an impacted croop that I had to feed yogurt with a medicine dropper for 2 weeks and another roo that was attacked by his brothers and left for dead.. both times I separated them from the others and then looked in my books or online on what to do..Both times I didnt call the vet because the only thing they would have told me it to was to wait it out ( an he is an large animal vet, he takes care of my goats/horses and cats) but not because I didnt care about my birds. If that was the case they wouldnt have survived that long...

Geesh, some rather cold posts here.

OP, so sorry about your pet. I hope that you're doing OK.

Wow! I think thats great that you were able to help your hens and roosters.

OP.. Im not sure where you are located but if you are anywhere near Massachusetts and your poor Roo doesnt make it and you are looking for another one for your dd, I have 7, 6 month old easter egger roos that are really pretty birds! ( you can have all 7 if you want! They drive me nuts! lol!)

Becca, I would like to apologize to you. I am sorry if my first came accross as if you had no called the Vet. to do everything you possibly could to stop the rooster from suffering. I jumped to the wrong conclusion, and it was very clear that you did care about the rooster and that you were shaken up about it. I hope everything turns out okay for you and dd.

Thanks for clarifing I missed the first post when it was deleted! What a scary situation to run over your daughter's pet. I'm glad a vet was in fact called. Hopefully everything is going okay!

When you post a situation like this it is always a good idea to not be so vague in the first post. If you don't post all the details people will jump all over it and attack you!

I called the travelling vet and he said there's not much you can do for a bird that's been hit, just keep him warm and watch him...the emergency vet said the same thing that he'd probably not survive the trip down there.
I never said he was JUST a rooster, he's our pet for crying out loud and I posted the message while waiting to hear back from the emergency vet I:m sorry I forgot to mention that detail thanks for making me feel even worse.

 Just ignore the rude comments, I'm sorry your rooster was hurt.

I'm sorry also for sounding so abrupt...it was only because you mentioned nothing of the vet and said that you had left the bird bleeding under your car and the first thing it sounded like you did was not call the vet but come onto the boards...

My first response to my pet would have been to take care of it, get it from under the car and do what I could, and my last would have been to get on the computer...however maybe at the time you were in to much shock to think rationaly(sp)...my bad...

I could truly read and feel that you were upset...I had no doughts about that!!! also could feel your panic. So I am sorry...it was an accident on your part...and I'm sure even though you know that it is not making you feel any better...

please let us know how you are both doing...

so sorry to hear about the rooster. I hope he'll make it!
