Hi
We are brand new members in fact just waiting for the contracts to come. I understand that discounts are available at the golf courses. Can anyone fill me in on it.

thanks
Aub

There is a DVC Golf Membership you can purchase. It costs $50 for a year, and entitles the cardholder and up to three guests (member must be playing) to get discounted rounds. With this membership, the golf rounds go down to the following rates:

Value Season: $35
Regular Season: $50
Peak Season: $89

I believe tee times are limited to after 10am, and there are probably limitations on how far out you can reserve the tee time (15 or 30 days in advance.)

We're in the beginning phase of a SSR contract also and was told that there would be golf discounts. I just didn't think to ask how much. Nothing was mentioned about having to buy a golf membership.

Does anyone know the DVC member discount for golf.

Are those rates for all of the golf courses and where would you find info on when the seasons are(ie value season etc)

and thanks for the info

Go to www.disneygolf.com and it has pretty much all the basic information you need. We do know that the clubhouse for the LBV golf course if right on SSR property.

There are no straight discounts--only the program mentioned above. Note that even with the $50 fee, the program can start saving money in just 2 or 3 rounds. The normal green fees are in the $100 range. The DVC member website doesn't say anything about the rates varying by course, so I have to assume they are across-the-board prices.

Seasons are:

Regular Season: 1/1/05 - 1/14/05 & 9/30/05 - 12/31/05
Peak Season: 1/15/05 - 5/1/05
Value Season: 5/2/05 - 9/29/05

Annual Passholders receive a discount off of each individual round. I think it's in the 30% range, but there are a lot of clauses and conditions regarding that discount.

seems that the rates that they go down to($35) is a great deal and a very large discount. even the $89 rate is a good deal

Here's something I got off the official DVC FAQ website:

What are my Member Benefits when I become a Member of Disney Vacation Club?
There are many exciting benefits of being a Member. You may take advantage of special benefits such as Walt Disney World® Theme Park admission discounts for the length of your stay, reduced greens fees at selected Walt Disney World golf courses, and toll-free assistance with vacation planning through Member Services, a service exclusively for Disney Vacation Club Members. Travel options for Members include the Disney Vacation Club Resort network and nearly 450 vacation experiences worldwide through the The Disney Collection, Adventurer Collection, World Passport Collection and the Concierge Collection (subject to availability). Call (800) 500-3990† to learn about these and other exciting benefits.

I'm going to have to call to find out for sure. My DH will only play one round of golf and won't want to buy a membership.

There's also some kind of "thrift" round of golf that begins play at 3 p.m. but since I don't golf, I'm not sure how long it takes to complete the round. That's noted on the disneygolf.com site too, toward the bottom.

You might also want to check the discounted rate available with an annual pass, if your stay is long enough to justify buying one and you're only interested in the occasional round of golf.
