For the person who posted no more private golf carts her you go....

Disney will not stop private golf carts and for good reason, many of there campers are regulars and of full timers, also a lot of us campers who do a lot of camping have our own golf carts it just goes with camping to take this away would certainly upset way too many people. Disney has added more golf carts to there fleet and they still run out. I would suggest anyone wanting a golf cart from Disney you better reserve at time of your reservations or you may be dissappointed when you get there that they are all rented out.
We have our own.
I do think it should be limited to electric only the gas ones smell really bad and can be load. But I am in favor of all golf carts.
Love RV'ing and gotta have one of those golf carts.

Welcome to da fort:disrocks:

I totally agree that the electric carts have a place in the fort especially for the elderlly and cabin guest......very profitable helps too....

The problem with private is they are harder to regulate(size, gas, parking on foot paths, etc.)...much easier to take away a cart they own.....

I don't think if they ban private they will empty the fort........There was a time when they had no carts....but when they put the cabin loops in that changed...;)

we are having our own built as to save on the $47/day golf cart fleecing.

$47 is steep but you have to becareful questioning any price (HDDR,carts, etc.) or you'll hear it from somebody..:lmao:

Right-0..... what I meant to say is that $47 is a bargain, I love all Disney, and everything they do is justified and righteous.:rotfl2:

Watcha buildin up.... an ez-go .....an club car .....or some other brand?

We're trading in our 1995 clubcar for a 2001 that actually works. new body, roof, back seat, lights, radio, lockable dashboard, and decked out in Gator Blue and White! Plus a few other things, "under" the hood.

They've had golf carts for a lot longer than they've had the modern cabins.

Uhmm, I'm simply stating that they have had golf carts around for longer than they have had the modern cabin expansion loops in place is all.

The golf carts didn't come because of the cabins, it's just as easy to travel anywhere from a cabin as it is from a campsite (although SOME camping loops are closer to walk), you can park cars, take buses, all those things. When I was young we rented the golf carts all the time, and that was before all the cabins were put into place.

I don't recall exactly when golfcarts came to the Fort, but I do remember my parents renting them for our 16th birthdays. Since my DSis turned 16 in 1984and I know that carts were around before that I'd have to say carts were there long before the cabin loops opened.

Have you checked out www.buggiesunlimited.com ? We just purchased a used cart(Yamaha) from a golf course near to where we seasonal camp. They were was replacing the carts with new ones. It's a gas cart...would have preferred electric..but for the price..I wasn't turning it down. We ordered a rear seat/windshield/wood grain dash/lights/brake lights...and new hub caps from Buggies Unlimited. It's actually at our shop now so my husband can have the new features installed, and a new paint job. Haven't decided on a color yet. Gator Blue and White..now that sounds interesting!

buggies unlimited is good, but my guy is better. Here's his website, although he's in Florida, he's got better quality, and his rates are very reasonable. We're buying a 2001 frame, but the only thing that will be 2001 when I'm done is the vin plate and the onboard computer. http://www.customcartshop.com/

Tell him Pete sent you. His name is Derek

it will be done Tues or Wed!!! I can't wait. He's waiting for the Body to come.

Can you post a picture of it when you get it? I would love to see it. We have an older cart in the "proper" orange, blue and white, and we are thinking of either rebuilding it or trading it in. I went to your guy's site and so far, I am impressed. I love the HUGE logo on the side, very cool indeed, if you are a gator that is...(wink)

Odessa is close to where I live so when I am ready to change our golf cart to Gator Blue and accessories I will have to look into this guy. We just spent money on ours with a new engine to go faster 25mph maybe 30 on a good day light weight.

out of curiousity, what might a used cart, in decent shape, cost?

is there a big cost difference between gas and electric?

Jen, will do......

As for gas vs. electric cart, not sure which is "cheaper". I like electric for the fact that they are quieter. I could see places like FW not letting you bring in gas ones because of the noise.

As for price, they vary in price from dealer to dealer. You can find some good ones out there. Our old one was a '95, this is going to be an '01 although very few important pieces of it will be that old. When you we are done refurbishing it, the only thing that will be '01 will be the computer.

Derek is a great guy, and will explain everything he does, and why he does it. He's not into just selling something for the sake of making a quick buck. when we installed the high amp controller, he said it was required to replace all the wires to 4 gauge as not to overload the standard wires. He won't cut corners to save money.

You can buy one for 2 grand and you can buy them for 7 grand, it just depends where you go and what you want in it.

Most of all BUY A CLUB CAR. The aluminum frames don't rust, the suspension is better than E-Z-Go's. Ezgo's do not typically hold up as well. I worked in golf for 21 years, and wouldn't buy an E-Z-GO. If I offended an EZGO owner out there, I apologize, but I like the club cars better.

I got my golf cart off ebay for about $535. I can't say it was in great condition and it was PINK! We have since dumped some money into it and it is a great Auburn golf cart now. It just depends on what you want to spend.

Gatordad, can't wait to see the pics. We did the graphics on our motorhome and would love more ideas for the golf cart!

You can go to any graphics shop and they can make the decals. We bought the two gator heads like you see on his site plus there was someone on ebay selling a whole sheet of Florida images.
