Golf Carts

Thanks everyone! It really did not take as long as I thought. The new high speed motor kit came with complete instructions and photos as did most of all the stuff. The hardest parts were the lift kit and the cutting out the lights using my rotozip. That sucker wants to keep zipping. The cutouts look ugly but the lights hide it, thankfully. I would say it took a few good weekends to do everything. I ordered everything and had it all on hand before I started though. It also helps to have a friend in the paint & body business to paint the cart for you.:thumbsup2

Someone posted the Golf Cart rules on here a little while ago. I will see if I can find them and post the link. I don't think FW differentiates between electric or gas golf carts.

Ugh, good old RotoZip, I know EXACTLY what you mean. That thing never wants to stop cutting, never had a tool quite like it...lol.

Ahh, so that's how you got that sweet paint job, I was going to say, if you hand painted that, you might have a nice little side job....lol

P.S. I think lots of people are in GatorDad's shoes, they would look elsewhere if Disney cut off private carts.

Here's that link to the Golf Cart rules. It does specify as to a gas & electric cart on the second page so I would asume either is okay. It does state that large recreational/utility type ones need prior approval.

Ahh good, point, so actually, gas carts ARE allowed at Fort Wilderness, and here all along I thought they were not allowed.

Good news for gas cart owners! :)

I have no problem with them enforcing rules, as long as they do it uniformly. I don't think they'll disallow private for some time, as a lot of people have their own.

Thanks for the link.
I do remember reading this now!:thumbsup2 I see there is no mention about gas carts not being permited....just gas scooters. I also wonder why no skateboards?...I'm thinking more a liability issue than any other reason?:confused3

Just curious............... would you or anyone else give up the fort if they disallowed private carts????:snail:

I don't think it would deter us..but we do plan to bring our bikes.
I know when we visit with our trailer we do plan to rent one from an outside agency..as the Disney prices are ridiculous. We rented from Disney for part of our stay in the cabins. I wouldn't plan to bring my own cart...but would like the use of one. I'm also wondering if cart rentals are restricted to Disney rentals, how that might impact on vehicular traffic? Those that may be more inclined to drive their trucks from their sites to the pools/trading posts. Not just when entering or leaving FW?

Glad someone reposted the rules to clarify. I had an electric cart and sold it and purchased a gas cart mainly because when at the Fort we do not want to fuss with charging or getting passed by the kids on bikes...lol, ours was older.. This will actually free up plug in spots for other users. Besides I could do a lot more upgrades on the gasser vs. electric. Funny thing is the club car 48 volt carts are known for going faster then some of the older gassers. As always cart use comes as a prevlige, and should be treated as such.

That's the tradeoff, gas doesn't need electric, yet gas doesn't take up as many spaces as electric. I wish we could buy our own, but it's nice to know that some of you are giving us some extra spaces at the marina...lol

That my friend is sweeeeeeeeeeeet. I live in Jax and have always pulled for the Gators since they're our kinda hometown team. I envy that baby.

Ugh, as a Canes fan, all I have to say is "FIVE", call me when you guys catch up....lol....just playing, that really is a sweet ride, I'm sure you'll be proud riding around in that ;)

Very cool cart GatorDad. Is that a seat belt back there ?? If so that is an excellent idea :)

those are seatbelts. due to the young age of my children, i figured it'd be best for them to have them. with all the nuts out there and all:cool1:

Nice ride you have. I would post a few of my new cart but do not know how the photo link works.

Figured out how to link photos, so here are a few of our new cart.

I had seat belts put on the rear seat for my kids, too. Even the 9 year old might fall off facing the back when we go around a corner even at a slow speed. I wouldn't trust my 6 year old to stay in without a seat belt. I don't drive fast, but with them facing the rear they don't know which way to brace when a curve comes up.

Can you post a picture of it when you get it? I would love to see it. We have an older cart in the "proper" orange, blue and white, and we are thinking of either rebuilding it or trading it in. I went to your guy's site and so far, I am impressed. I love the HUGE logo on the side, very cool indeed, if you are a gator that is...(wink)

THANK YOU, I'm glad somebody else here knows what the correct blue and orange colors are supposed to be :cool1:

While I didn't actually go there, I've got two brothers, two SILs, and a couple of cousins to all say WAR EAGLE! with.
