Questions on Transferred Points

I transferred points from one of my memberships into the other membership in my name. I know that transferred points can be banked. But, can transferred points be borrowed? I just put in a waitlist for 5/31/26, which would fall in my June 2025 use year (and I have 0 points). I have points in my 2026 year, but they were transferred in. If the waitlist were to become available, could they be borrowed for the 1 night that falls into that 2025 use year. If not, next question is there a way to request purchase of one-time points for a waitlist that might become available.

When transferred, points retain their regular UY. But, the new rules allow borrowing.

You have to purchase OTU points in order to have them available for a waitlist. And, if it doesn’t come through, they’d be stuck because you can’t bank them.

The 2026 points that I did transfer from one of my memberships to my other membership do have the same resort and same use year, so what you are saying they would be available to borrow for that one night in 2025 use year if it does become available?

Yes, the new rules allow transferred points to be borrowed.

If your reservation was made within the 7 month window with normal (not banked or borrowed points), you can:

1. Buy OTUP for a reservation, then cancel that reservation to get the OTUP in your account.
2. Modify your reservation to use up the OTUP and free up your normal points
3. The normal points will be used if your waitlist come through
4. You can bank any of the normal points that aren't used (if the waitlist doesn't come through)

An alternative if it wasn't made in the 7 month window would be to buy OTUP and double up and reserve the first or last night of your trip (if available), then modify and cancel that same night on your reservation to free up your normal, now bankable points to have to bank or use if the waitlist comes through.
