Today was our Epcot day (1 of 2) and it was a beautiful, sunny day out! DH always thought Epcot was only "that big golf ball" but now I could finally show him that its SOOO much more!
We didn't arrive there until after 11, so it was already pretty busy but nothing like the Magic Kingdom was yesterday. We hit Test Track, Nemo ride, and possibly a few more things but stayed on that side as we had a 3 pm Lunch reservation. I think I ate a handful of granola that morning so even I was pretty hungry by the time we checked in.
I've never been here due to the negative reviews and such so I was a little skeptical. I asked the guy at check in if we could please have an aquarium table and told him about sis' Bday (unbirthday until 2 more days) and our "happily ever after". In about 10 minutes our buzzer went off and we were seated! Here was our table...

I was really glad they sat us here! Hopeful that my SIS wouldn't keep complaining and that DH would enjoy it since he likes Fish/Aquariums. Our waitress was nice, once again she had to put up with the other two asking for "normal" food. My Sister was not happy at all, she wanted a "real" salad with ONLY french dressing. Real as in iceberg lettuce . What does that make the other (better for you) salad greens!?
Bread service was brought out while they still pondered and for not liking the bread they were always the ones who grabbed it first. They said they were hard as rocks. Now, I will agree the bread service here was MEH. Just crusty basic rolls and pretty plain tasting.
Neither one could find anything on the menu and out of frustration I just told them to check the kids menu and order a plain chicken breast and mac n cheese. So, that is what they did basically.
During our wait for food the scuba divers came in!!! Only once per day do they do this so we really did get a treat. Lots of fish to look at and a shark swam by. I'll admit, it was cool even though I'm not a fish/aquatic lover
Dinner was brought out hot and fresh...We got the Mahi with Shrimp and Jasmine rice in a coconut sauce.
The fish was cooked perfectly. Mild, flaky and seasoned good. Shrimps were tiny and not overcooked. The rice was different, I'm unfamiliar with the hearts of palm they put it the rice...It was slightly sour and almost tasted pickled. It was good, just different. The coconut sauce on the fish was excellent! Really a good dish. DH agreed, he thought it was very good as well.
Across the table on the other hand, were two unhappy campers. They both ordered the kids grilled chicken and sides. BIL got brocolli and he said it was not cooked enough and that his chicken was old. Sis had gotten the grilled chicken and rice for her side. Big mistake for her because she did not want the rice now once she saw BILs mashed potatoes. Poor waitress got called back to the table and BIL sent his chicken back and Sis ended up trading out her rice for mashed potatoes. Like, seriously she started complaining even before we walked in the restaurant after she read the menu.
They brought out new food for them and they still weren't happy.
Well, too bad for them because I was ready to try a dessert. Before I could choose which one to pick the waitress dropped off two of these at our table!!
BIL and SIS got one too. Thankfully because I was still hearing it from our first night freebie lol.
Yes, it is as yummy as it looks. The cake was rich, decadent and melted in your mouth! I really liked the tart of the raspberry against the sweet richness of the chocolate. Combined together it was quite perfect! We ate it all. YUMMMM. And lookie here, another free dessert!
I would go back to Coral Reef again, just so the kids could see it! Food was very good probably a 4/5. Waitress was nice but a little fast with things I felt. We enjoyed dining here. Loved the decor and lights as well!
