"Golden Corral was our best meal" says my Sister. 8 days of yum for us, not them!

Please tell me you ditched them halfway through the trip in regards to ADR's. I would totally have told them to figure out their own meals and do the rest of my ADR's with just DH and myself.

They are unbelievable. I can't stand complainers. It's a rule in my house and my kids get punished for excessive whining.

hopping on board a liitle late. going to sci fi for lunch next month. haven't decided on counter service and snacks yet so looking forward to those reviews.

and so far you are a saint ! do you snap at some point:scared1: ?just saying i think i would .
thanks for taking the time to review.

I totally agree with ^^^:thumbsup2 Why did they even go:confused3 The smoking thing would've been a complete deal breaker for me and my family. Luckily none of our family members or even friends for that matter, smoke.

So so so sorry that you had to endure that on YOUR vacation!:headache:

Your CG meal sounded amazing and all of the food looked wonderful. I've got an ADR there for our wedding anniversary in July and can't wait :goodvibes

I can't believe the attitude of your IL's and the smoking is just terrible. Also do they not realise there's no sleeping in WDW? :rotfl:

I finally found our Cali Grill receipt....Our waiters name was Ryan. Again, he was just wonderful to us! Glad I found that, my memory is poo these days lol.

Oh my. I would not be happy about getting such a late start into the parks. Like you, I'm a morning person and like to do rope drop.

Look at the bright side, if they had such a miserable time you won't have to worry about ever vacationing with them at Disney again!

No, I sure as heck wasn't either! I was like a drug addict waiting around those mornings when they wouldn't get out of bed. Pacing back and forth in the hotel room, waiting to get my Disney fix LOL.

Luckily the hotel we were staying at offered free shuttle to the parks that we utilized several times.

Looking back we had several warnings from friends about traveling with "family" and what not. I look back and have mostly good memories though! The happiness I get while at WDW more than covers up the bad stuff thankfully!

First off, that was rude to smoke in rooms, and also your card could have been charged. It's apparent that they do not care. I'm sorry for that. It seems like they didn't even want to go on the trip. Debbie downers.. :( secondly, yum Mickey waffle. We always stay at Pop. (Probably because I know it like the back of my hand) we have always loved the good court. I too always get up early on vacation. Never want to miss a Disney moment. :)

Yes, I agree about the smoking. I have asthma and it definitely got worse when he lit up. I knew he smoked but I didn't understand he would be so disrespectful and gross about it. Well, after the 10 days with them I've realized just how they are. There were times it was worse than picking up after my three children with the trash they'd just leave everywhere in the hotel room and rental car, their entitled attitude...ya...it was fun. LOL

Debbie Downer aint got nuttin on these people :lmao:

I know POP fairly well too and its always clean and the food is good there for the most part! Especially compared to the other values.

First of all, I am so glad to hear that your Cali Grill experience is the best (loved the pictures). We have a favorite waiter there that we make sure to see when we go. His name is Walt (not a hard name to forget :rotfl:). Their service there is awesome and after seeing your scallops, I know what I am going to get the next time we are there :goodvibes.

As for the next morning, well all I can say is WOW!!!! I can't believe that your BIL smoked outside of his room, you could of been charged for that. And then to go and smoke in the bathroom???? How rude....sorry OP, I'm just ranting a bit. I hope your MK day will put the magic in your Sis and BIL that they so desperately need :goodvibes.

I finally figured out our waiters name, it was Ryan. Yah, I would have been LIVID if anything got charged to my bank account. We don't do credit cards so its alllll our bank accounts which didn't sit well with me once we found out about the butt in the bathroom. Rant away! LOL....

Oh yes we certainly did just that!! There was NO way we could continue to hear the non stop complaining so I washed my hands of it. And I agree on the whining!!!

:rotfl2: Not a saint haha . I just really don't like confrontation. He tried smoking in the room at the other hotel openly and I finally said its on my debit card and I will not be charged for him smoking. So then he finally went outside to do it, that was another unhappy incident with them...I can't help that nearly everything is non smoking these days and I really don't want to inhale all of it. When I "snap" I cry a lot. Which is what pretty much happened the whole car ride home. :furious:

Thanks for reading!

That was just it. They looked at it as though it was their vacation only. We split everything and actually ended up paying more for several things than what they did. I knew he smoked but I didn't know it'd be that bad.

We honestly did way too much catering to them. My intention was to show them a nice time and experience Disney since they had never been. Pretty much took a stab personally with each complaint they had. I mean, it did hurt my feelings but half way into it all we pretty much did our own thing.

I feel like I missed out ...ya know, sleeping the day away and getting to the parks around 2/3...having that fantastic Golden Corral dinner. :hyper:

Subbing as well, loving your review!!

Thanks!

You will NOT be disappointed in CG. Make sure you get a later reservation so you guys can watch wishes! And be sure to not that your celebrating your Anniversary for that FREE creme brulee

The sleeping part I don't understand. Why go to Disney if you just want to lay in bed?? I mean, you can do that at home for free!

Well, we finally arrived at the MK around 1 that day. I had forgotten about how you have to ride the boat or monorail over to the park as I have only ever stayed on property since I was 18.

I was still kinda in denial that I was back "Home".

The weather was GORGEOUS and Amanda was finally able to show off her WHITE legs with some shorts hehe. JK. But my legs are very white, can't hide my Irish side I guess.

Of course MK was swamped. Actually, I've not seen it that swamped before to be honest. Maybe it was because we were so late in going there, as it was a Sunday and I heard a lot of Spring breakers were to be heading back home that night? Anyway...BIL and SIS were hungry as soon as we got there so I suggested Casey's. It was right there and it's simple, hot dogs fries...etc.. Kinda can't have a bad hot dog right? WRONG (according to them).

They were busy, as they usually are. I knew what I wanted. I had never tried them before and I had to ! DH and I split some corn dog nuggets! We didn't want to eat too much because we knew our Dinner at Yachtsman would be filling.

DH even brought me a side of ketchup with a squirt of mustard in it! They were HOT, fresh and very yummy! Crisp with a little crunch from the coating....Bad for you...but they tasted so good! I think I'll make some up this week with either Turkey Dogs or Fat Free beef dogs...

The others got dogs and fries. BIL got the Chili Cheese dog and it was huge. I'm not a hot dog person at all, in fact the only time I've ever craved them was when I was pregnant with my Son. However, his looked good. She just had a regular hot dog. Both of them weren't happy and said they were "nasty". That word seems to be a very well used one in their vocabulary.

I would recommend Casey's though. They get slammed and still manage to keep pushing order after order out. They also have the toppings bar as well, this I will keep in my for our next visit with the kids because my 6 year old has a cheese obsession and she would love that cheese pump ;)

Sorry you had such a hard time. I'm lucky that my whole family loves Disney but they also love to complain too!

After eating $100 worth of food at Fulton's last October, my nephew went to McDonald's and said it was so much better. :rotfl: I can relate to this report!

We stopped at Golden Corral on the way to the airport. My DH said it was his first and last visit there. Loving your report so far, I don't think I would be able to put up with as much as you did and it's only the first day of your report!

Those corn dogs look so good, I haven't had the pleasure of trying them yet. I think for our upcoming trip, we will have to make a stop there just so I can taste what everyone on the DIS raves about :goodvibes.

Love Casey's corn dog nuggets! We ate them one trip before we went to the Dessert party and were glad to have them in our bellies before the sugar overload. I don't think I've ever eaten in Casey's. Can't get past to smell of the kraut.

Looking forward to hearing about the Yachtsman!

I have never tried the corn dog nuggets. If they taste anything like a DL corn dog I am all over that on my next trip :)

Before we knew it, it was time for our ADR for the evening. Originally had a 5:05 reservation for Yachtsman however, we weren't able to get there until more like 6. Thankfully, they still seated us upon arrival. My sister was not happy because she had to walk "SO FAR". I had never been to that resort before so didn't know exactly where to go to get the restaurant.

We checked in and were seated almost immediately. I did notice a lot of underdressed people that clearly weren't paying attention to the dress codes and what not. I guess it shouldn't bother me, idk why it does lol. I actually like getting dressed up and going out while at Disney because round here, the classiest place is a pizza/sub/salad place inside of a gas station. Well, probably not...but ya know what I mean.

Our waitress, Lord help her, went above and beyond explaining things to BIL and SIS. I mean, its a steakhouse...I didn't think it'd be too complicated for them. DH and I knew ahead of time what we were going to get. While waiting for them to make their minds up we were given this...

Sorry about the almost empty bread basket. BIL and SIS were the first ones to grab bread, butter, etc. We ended up having to ask for our own because of that. I didn't dare ask to take a pic before they dug through it all :hyper:

Butter was salted and served at room temperature. I loved the garlic...I'm not a butter person but I love my garlic!

The favorite between DH and I were the onion pull apart rolls. I think the others were just sourdough, which were good too but not as memorable as the onion rolls. Everything was hot and fresh, onion rolls were soft and the sourdoughs were crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. I love my carbs and bread so I tend to thoroughly enjoy bread service.

We eventually were able to place our orders. DH and I ordered the Lobster Bisque and the NY Strip with twice baked potato.

I loved how they split up the soup and entree for us. That was a really nice touch that we surprisingly encountered several times throughout our visit. DH really enjoyed the soup. It did have chunks of Lobster through it but I didn't particularly care for it. It was good, don't get me wrong. Im not really much of a soup person, especially anything creamy. I think I lost interest in these sorts of things when I started having problems with my Gallbladder, having to change your entire diet...and then last year I was actually hospitalized with Acute Idiopathic Pancreatitis (fancy name for Durgggh, IDK why you got this illness to begin with lol).

Anyway, He enjoyed the soup and ended up eating most of mine :) I did enjoy the hunks of juicy, flavorful lobster in it though before I handed it to him hehe.

The Entree....While the steak was good, I kind of expected a little more from this place. Being from rural Michigan might have exposed me to better than average steaks and meat??? The cut could have been better I think. Better as in bigger lol. BUT, it was SMOOTH as butter and did not have that normal NY strip texture. It was not hard to chew at all and I honestly did not need a steak knife to cut it. Ohhh and that sauce it was served with!!! YUMMMM ! I could drink it. The potato for me was Meh. Kind of blah. DH liked it much more than me and I gladly handed it over to him.

BIL ordered the ribeye and said it was very good. He didn't have complaints with his dinner. Sis on the other hand....she was not happy. First she said it was not done enough for her, even though they had her cut into the steak before they left. She said, Oh yes, its perfect to the waiter and then complained after they left. SMH. She had the sweet potato casserole for her side and ...sit down for this one....not one complaint regarding this. I know, I about had a stroke LMAO.

She did conitue to pick apart the steak, said it had too much stuff running through it...marbling. I tried to tell her that NY Strips usually do. She must have wasted over half of her steak, seriously. One good thing that came from this is that I got to eat her sauce which she had requested to be on the side. Of course, she didn't like it. I happily dipped each bite of my steak into it though ::yes::

Half way into our meal DH decided to pull a typical DH move. He excused himself to the bathroom. However, he was actually going to hunt the waitress down to see what could be done about my Sisters Birthday (really unbirthday, 2 days from then). He told her to bring out a specialty dessert and that we would cover it. I kinda gritted my teeth on this one, but this is the good guy that he is. We really did go out of our way to try and appease them. Since we were still hearing about our "free" dessert last night we were hoping this would help satisfy her.

We were given the dessert menus however, not too long after these adorable plates were brought out to each of us!!!

Hers had a candle in it as well. Happy Frickin UN Birthday

Anyway, this was soooooo perfect!!! And soooo cute!

Now, I might not be a big dinner person. BUT, I LOVE my desserts. And I was going to try each one of these cuties! I cut each in half and DH and I worked our way across the plate :)

Left to Right.. Raspberry marshmallow, Dark Chocolate Truffle, Key Lime Pie I believe, White Chocolate Coconut Truffle and I think it was a Cranberry Gel of sort. But it was GOOD. Tarty and sweet! If you like cranberry sauce from Thanksgiving you will enjoy this! The Marshmallow was light and fluffy with a hint of flavor, Dark Chocolate was excellent and the middle was smooth as silk, Key lime was sooo tiny but packed with lots of flavor . The white truffle was very good as well. Just as smooth and silky as the Dark, but not as rich and more milky. I ended up combining a lil of the key lime with the white coconut truffle and they paired nicely together. Still, if I had to choose out of them all I'd pick the Cranberry stuff. Probably because I'm a weirdo :hyper:

Anway, we enjoyed our meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse. I loved how they split our meal up onto two plates, the onion rolls and texture of the steak was definitely the highlights. Our waitress was very good and attentive. And heck, we got another free dessert LOL.

All in all, I'd probably give it a 3.5/5. Maybe a 4/5. Lets say a 3.5-4/5. Would we go back? Probably not right away but eventually. While it was very good we werent completely wow'ed about anything either.

Quick note regarding SALT. You will probably have to ask for it. And pepper. Each restaurant we went to didn't have it on the table :( Sad for a sodium lover like myself. I know the reasoning behind this but with my love for bread service I just needs meez salts.

Anyway, just an FYI :cool1:

Oh and Also...Last night the kids and I were in need of chocolate. I really really craving the molten lava cakes from various WDW restaurants. Sooo...I found a copy cat recipe online and made these with the kids :) They were incredible! I only wish we had vanilla bean ice cream instead of the kids chocolate fudge candy who knows what else is in it ice cream. I don't own the proper dishes to bake them in so I used a cupcake pan and it worked out fine.

Thought I'd share. Real classy dinnerware, I know ;)
