As my time to leave comes ever closer (okay so i'm not leaving till June and even then I still have till september beforecamp finishes) I have to start planning and booking things esp if I want to go to WDW.

I am only 18 and will be travelling round the USA for a month by myself :scared1: Very scary thought. Hopefully I will go around with people from camp. So as this is my 1st time planning a holiday by myself I need some help, as I am totally clueless about what to do.

I am also I really bad flyer (I was in a plane that just dropped a couple of thousand feet, it was like being on ToT), if it was up to me I would get a boat :boat: to the USA, or I would take sleeping pills once I have boarded. But I am not allowed to. So can anyone surgest anything to calm me and to stop the really bad headaches I get when landing. Last time I flew I was going to Italy with my dad and when we landed I was in so much pain that I was screaming really loudly.

Also if anyone can surgest where to visit. I dont know here I am going to camp bbut the plan is to go to WDW first then make my way up the east coast as I have to get back to NY for my flight. I am planning to go to Washington, New Orleans, Boston, Philadelphia. I also want to go to where they big plantation (sp?) manors are. Where do you find these.

Thanks for anyhelp.

An early welcome to the U.S. Just a tip- Boston is a wonderful place to visit, but this summer it is hosting the Democratic National Convention July 25th- try not to visit around that time:earseek:

I will be going in september once the camps are finished. When do the leaves start to change? It has always been a dream to go to any where in New England to see the changeing of the leaves.

Middle to late September should be perfect!

The weather is beautiful across most of the US at that time, although it still will be hot in the South.

WDW is least crowded then, so I highly recommend WDW :teeth:

The California Coastline is amazing (or so I hear ;) )

Washington DC would be interesting if you like that sort of thing!

I gotta go now, but I'll think some more in detail while I'm out!

I would definitely make a plan!

Wow you are visiting lots of places. You might want to try posting each destination separately and you'll get more responses. Such as any Philadelphia tips......etc. I know there have been a few helpful posts lately on these boards about NYC and Washington, D.C. if you want to try a search.

If you want plantations, look around Charleston, South Carolina or Savannah or Atlanta, Georgia (we also have some here in Virginia.)

San Francisco, California is a nice place.
Las Vegas, Nevada is the Sin City.
Grand Canyon Arizona
Staten Island (Is that where the Statue of Liberty?), New York
Washington DC (monuments)
Orlando, Florida!! (WDW/Universal)
Maui, Hawaii....but it's not part of the mainland...oh well..

Use the internet and start browsing where you can lodge near the interest point. And how much the cost to fly from point A to point B. When you say camp, do you mean camping or do you mean lodging as in hotel? When you are doing a major vacation like this, I think I would opt for a Travel Agency. I think I would let them do all the planning, but just let them know where you want to go and for how long you want to stay. Good luck with your planning and have a wonderful time here in the US! :)

No I am working in a summer camp for the summer, then I get a month to travel before I go home and start my 2nd yr of Uni.

Peak leaf-peeping time in New England (I live in VT) is mid-October. Columbus Day weekend is an especially busy time up here.

Have a wonderful adventure.

Hey, you passed right over NJ ;) . Don't believe everything you hear, southern NJ is really great by mid to late September. Very nice weather, things are still open and the crowds are pretty much gone. I recommend you make a quick stop in Cape May if you have time and check out the beautiful victorian homes. There are lots of campgrounds around our area (Cape May County) and they are still open and not as expensive and crowded in September as they are in the summer. Welcome to the US :wave2: at little early.
