going to disney&uni again! Sep 2011

Awesomely silly.

He's been singing "Lovebug" by Jonas Bros, and after a few times through he starts playing with it. So at the line that goes something like "I didn't know I'd get bit by the love..bug again", he will come out of his singing voice, and say just quickly and matter-of-factly, with a little sort of poet-y lilt, "bit by the...lovebug, again!"

I should record it, actually. It's funny.

Maybe someday he'll record albums in the style of William Shatner. :)

Oh I am very familiar with the Jonas Brothers and Big Time Rush. My daughter Kody used to be madly in love with Kevin Jonas. Now she is in love with Carlo Pena.

I took her shopping one of her favorite stores today. She loves this store called Rue21. I gave her a money limit of $100 of stuff and I had a coupon for $20 off. She ended up with 10 shirts, 2 pairs of shoes, 7 pairs of socks, make up and 2 hair decorations. We walked out having spent $85 and change. I am so proud.:rotfl:

Oh I have it good with her. Her sister is another story. She likes name brands a bit more at least as far as lingerie. She likes expensive stuff. I told her she needs a part time job to help pay for these things.

We went to the drive in tonight!! What a kick that was!! We saw Cars 2 and Harry Potter again. It was a screen drive in and oh wow what fun!! It's been over 20 years since I have been at the drive in. It was a lot of fun!!

Oh how fun!

Yay, brother and sis in law got a new kitty! Well not a kitten, actually, but a young cat. As he put it, the cat won the kitty lottery at the shelter...they are very generous cat-owners.

Let's just hope she's more like the one that died a few months ago, in the allergen department...I was never allergic to her, but their other one makes me sneeze.

I love cats but I am like you some have an effect on my allergies and others don't. We have two feral cats that we take care of. Well there are more than 2 that we feed but only two that stay in our garage in a general basis. The female always has an effect on me but the male never does. There is no rhyme or reason. What a lucky kitty though. I am a firm believer in rescuing animals.

Aw, that's the way we "owned" cats when I was growing up! Are yours hunters? Our females were SERIOUS hunters (and they ate what they caught). Our male was a big moth-killer, but otherwise not the best. He preferred to stalk the cat food. :)

My brother's first cat was semi-feral, and chose them. Their second one was from a shelter, though.

Someday when we have a house and a yard and can deal with vet bills, I'm sure that I'll do the pure-bred Alaskan Malamute* thing, but will also probably have a rescue animal or two as well. Because I love both! So I'm not a shelter purist, but I'm not a purebred purist either. Both sides can hate me, lol.

*or maybe standard poodle, b/c that's what Robert grew up with. He also was raised with a German Shepherd but I don't know what I would do with such a highly obedient dog!:rotfl:

Our male is one of the best hunters I have seen. He catches scrub jays and other birds. He leaves me their wings. I wish he wasn't quite so generous. I think he figures that he is keeping the regular food supply going that way. He is the oddest cat. He likes to be brushed.

We have a German Shepherd, and she is smart. She had to go to obedience classes to learn how to behave properly. We got her from our local animal shower and she had the bad habit of running out the front door before that. Once she did the classes she became the perfect dog.

When the kids were babies we had a German Shorthair Pointer and she was a very smart and protective dog. She considered the kids hers. When they were babies if one of them woke up she would come to make sure that I was going to take care of them. Fausta was a character. The Rottweiler nextdoor would also bark and let me know when the kids were waking up. It was a the silliest thing.

I love both of those stories.

So glad Robert will be home soon! As I said before, I know it's only been 2 weeks ...but it feels like 2 months.... I think of things E&I I did on the first and second day of the trip and it's just distant memories. Weird.

Meanwhile, I'm watching Hoarders and folding laundry!

Molly, I am so glad Scotty doesn't travel for work. I would miss him terribly. I have never watched Hoarders. It just doesn't interest me. My daughters love the coupon show. They sit and are amazed at the people.

We went from "we will never travel apart", joined at the hip... to this job...that's what a terrifying layoff, where you realized you're on the razor's edge of disaster, will do to you!

I don't know what it is about Hoarders. I'm a bit of a packrat, mainly sentimental items, or items I have now, don't need now, will need later, and don't want to buy/searchfor again. And I'm in a constant state of decluttering, and trying to assign a space for everything, so that everything has a place and there's a place for everything....so sometimes I feel a little bit like I might have a problem.

But...no. Nothing like the people on the show.

The couponing show...I've learned from the Dis that the shopping trips are set up in advance, with the store ordering ore merchandise so they don't clear the store out, etc etc...so it's not *real* to me. I know that the editing etc makes Hoarders more "exciting", but I don't *think* the producers are adding more junk to these peoples' homes, ya know?

OMG I've been cleaning up a storm. And I've just realized that all I had was coffee (and a 3 day old donut, shh (and yuck)), and I'm feeling very very fainty right now! Must eat!

Scotty always says that reality shows are not reality. I tend to agree. With the hoarders I don't know how they could fake that, I do know they could script it.

Molly, it's important to eat. I do that and then I pay for it later.

I grilled vegetables tonight. I love the way grilled veggies taste. It was the first time I have ever made green beans on the grill. I was reading Goodhousekeeping and they recommended cooking them in foil with garlic and pepper. They turned out good. I also grilled zucchini, carrots and asparagus. They taste so much better to me because the flavor hasn't been cooked out of them.

Have fun with Robert and Eamon!!

Yay, Robert's home! And he's so much more cheerful and chipper than, you know, when he wasn't sleeping. Imagine that. :)

We've got to get a grill some day.

Oh that's wonderful!!

Yes, you do. The taste of the food when you grill it is amazing. Next I am going to attempt grilling artichokes.

mmmmm....grilled artichokes sound good!

My DH grills at our house - we just wish we had a shaded patio so he was more comfy doing it. Our house faces West and the sun here beats down on it - accuweather says it feels like 93. :beach:

It's good to hear that Robert is getting good sleep and it's making a difference. :thumbsup2

Our house faces north and south so our front courtyard is shady. My husband works a 7 to 7 shift so I do it. Also he used to do it but he was never patient and I didn't like the taste as much.

north, south, east, west....good info to think about in the future when thinking about houses.....

One thing though east and west facing windows are the best for a cooling breeze. I did not think about this and we have one east window and one west window downstairs with walls in,between. It stinks.

In our kitchen/living area we have east/west facing windows and it does make a difference for the cooling breeze - if your weather cools down at night in the summer - ours doesn't always. Our bedroom windows face east and west - upstairs - but of course, there are walls and doors in between so we don't cool down as much upstairs as we do downstairs. Which is too bad, since I like to sleep cool - I hate trying to sleep when it's hot in the house.

We are the opposite upstairs there are two large rooms, the bathroom and an open hallway. That makes cooling it off at night so much nicer when we have the delta breeze. In our area we get 3-5 days of heat and then 3-5 cooling days. On the cooling days the upstairs is the place to be.
