going to disney&uni again! Sep 2011

I hate trying to sleep when it's hot in the house.

Me too. But I exacerbate the problem b/c I have a hard time sleeping with doors open, and the way our apartment is set up I don't want the bedroom window open (it's like a motel, with a walkway outside the bedroom windows, so if someone's walking by an open window, you can hear inside the bedroom) b/c I snore.

And then it's even worse b/c I generally need some sort of light comforter on me to *get* to sleep.

Made worse b/c E and I have a bit of a cold right now, and while we aren't running proper fevers, we're both a little bit warmer than normal, so last night was just miserable. I'm miserable right now, too. Just broiling.

(oh yay, September in Orlando is going to be soooooo awesome. But at least there's air conditioning indoors!)

Molly, one happy thought about the weather on your up coming trip to WDW, at least it will not be unearthly cold.

This is so, so true.

I've all of a sudden reached the "scramble to buy everything we need!" portion of the trip. Little misting fans, perhaps some cooling towel thingies (frogg togg brand maybe), perhaps I'll get myself some more coolmax type tops from le target... More sunscreen to pack in the checked bags. FIND my sunglasses. etc etc. :)

Oh you know I love the planning of a trip and I love the trip but I don't like the crunch feeling. When I get the I've got to gets it drives me nuts.

I buy Scotty Coppertone Sport spray on suntan lotion for riding his bike. It is great you can sweat while using it and you don't have to replace it, and it doesn't drip down into his eyes either. He swears by it.

That's the WORST part about sunscreen for me - when it gets in my eyes. Man, it stings! :(

I wear super strong stuff since I have very fair skin and I hate wearing a hat - too hot - and then my hair looks funny! I almost always buy between 50 and 100 spf. I put it on my little brown skinned kids, too. Although you can't tell, they're sooo tan. (It's their Dad's fault, he's very brown, too) They tease me about being so "pink". They say I'm not white! I'm pink! :lmao:

I hate the money spent on last minute things - but the getting doesn't bother me. :confused3

Scotty is so pale I tease him about getting sun burned just thinking about the sun and my daughter Kacy is the same way. With this they don't burn. Scotty spends hours on the bike in the sun and he is tan not burned. Loren burns too but fights the suntan lotion. It is that I'm too macho but if he burns it is tan by the next morning. Kody and I do not sunburn.

I hate the last minute things too because invariably I spend a big part of my budget on them. It's always stupid stuff too.

Heck, *I* say that I'm pink, not white! :)

DS is pale right now, but with sun (even though the same sunscreen that I wear) he turns the loveliest golden tone. Robert just gets DARK. Oh and E gets a scattering of freckles, too. SO adorable. Though his grandma hasn't seen the freckles...considering she dislikes Lucy Liu because of LL's freckles (I could get on MIL's case about this but I won't, since I currently dislike the Lewis character on Suits b/c of his teeth, so who am I to say anything?), it would be interesting to see what she says about her beloved grandboy.

The NICE thing about the purchases I'm about to make is that I've known for a long time that I need the things (well, we HAVE sunscreen, but it's recently come to my attention that sunscreen has expiration dates so more will probably be in order) and they are budgeted...it's just a lot to do in a short period of time.

Owie...I decided that I've not worn earrings for too long, so I got some tiny little sparklies for the 2nd and 3rd holes in my left ear (right ear has only the one hole), and they have a screwback (like a normal post but with screw threads) and OUCH OUCH OUCH that was not fun to go in! Making it worse was the fact that those holes, that have not closed up in years (nay, decades!), decided to start to close at the back. So first I had to reopen them with smooth earring posts, but then I had to put the demon posts in. And now the ear is getting used to having them there again. Gah.

Okay I don't like Lewis because of his teeth either. Well that and the fact he is just a plain jerk. But I happen to think Lucy Lui is adorable with her freckles. It gives her that adorable girl next door look. I find it funny thought that just last night Scotty and I were watching Charlie's Angels for about the millionth time because for some reason I love it. I was telling him how cute I think she is.

I stopped wearing earrings when I had Kacy. When the kids were younger I had my ears repierced I still don't wear them. I did always wear two pairs though before we had kids. I would wear post in my lower holes and then use others in my upper ears. Some of my favorites were my Gumby and Pokey ones. I would wear Gumby in one ear and Pokey in the other.

I think her freckles are cute, too. Freckles are cute on everyone...except for me! :rotfl:

Woo, I just revisited the Alaska frequent flyer code for National, and used a newsletter coupon, and brought our rental car down by over $100! Woo! It's still higher than our December rental, but I suppose early December is going to be cheaper than mid-September, eh?

I think bring it down by that much is great. Early December is always cheaper. And then the closer it gets to Christmas the higher it goes.

I'm pretty excited about the savings. I was trying to get Robert to give up the National reservation...as it is, if you reserve a mid-size car, you get to go to the Emerald Aisle and choose from whatever's there. It's gambling. Last time we got a Dodge Nitro which we LOVED. So I was trying to tell him "let's just go with priceline and get a small, cheap, car!" and...he was right and I was wrong.

Well, that is, IF there's a nice car that we enjoy again. If we end up with a Camry, it might not have been so right of him! Not that there's anything wrong with a Camry, good little car....just not as "fun" as the Nitro was.

We really need to get our Universal tickets soon. I had thought that buying one AP and then using the AP discount at the gate was going to be cheaper for buying the other two sets of tickets...but I think I'm wrong about that. So I gotta check out the discounter websites very soon!

And I need to stop TALKING about making the purchases and START making the purchases....:3dglasses

That is a little like roulette and if it pays off it pays off big.

If you get the Universal AP does it work in both California and Florida? I know that if you get the Six Flag AP it works at all Six Flags.

Sadly, I don't think it works on both coasts. How awesome would it be if it did, though?

That is my thought. I was rather amazed to find out when we had our Six Flag ones we were able to go to Magic Mountain as well as our local one. As if we would. I am not a fan of our local one let alone Magic Mountain. They have such thuggly people there.

3 small misting fans and 3 "frogg togg" cooling towels ordered. Too much money already spent! :3dglasses

Gotta find a hat for Robert...not an easy task since he's part gorilla, LOL.

Are the "frogg togg" slimy? You can get this kind at Walmart and I cannot use them because the sliminess grosses me out.

Costco has had these great sun hats the ones for kids remind me of Laurence of Arabia type of hats because they have the drape that covers the neck from the sun.

Hehe...DH's hat size is 7 7/8. Finding a hat for him is not easy, either! ;)

Are all asian males "big head boys"?? Just wondering.......:rolleyes1

I really hope they aren't slimy....

I saw those hats once at Costco, such a good idea.

I think there's something to that! Robert never realized how bad he looked in hats until my honest self showed up. Poor guy. Now he's scared to wear a hat. But these will actually FIT him, and not look...well, not look as bad as a normal hat squeezed onto his noggin. Their online ordering system was not working yesterday...off to call them. (bighatstore.com, that is)

I have a big head and won't wear hats because of it. I get headaches when I wear them.

Whew, finally got an order through.

What's next? Ooh, shoes. I admit I'd like to wait and get to WDW and see IF they have Crocs Athens with the Mickey head holes...but what if they don't? Then what would I do?

I think I'm going to have to just buy some normal Athens. (and if they have the Disney ones at WDW, maybe that'll be a souvenir) That's a better idea anyway, b/c I think I have them in a size too big, but they required breaking in (which was painful as I was at Disneyland when I bought them! I remember great pain in the skin of my feet. But great sighs of relief in the bones....

So yes, buy them now. Excellent decision. (and not the only pair of shoes I'll be buying...)

E got me to buy the 2nd grade supplemental workbook at Costco the other day...while still finishing up the 1st grade book. We didn't finish it while doing curriculum b/c it jumped far ahead of the curriculcum so I put it aside. Doing the work through the summer is to help prevent what Sylvan learning centers show in their ads with the knowledge leaking from the kid's ears. :)

Anyway, since he wants to be able to do the 2nd grade book, he's now happily doing the rest of the 1st grade book. So he's at my side now, working on maps and spelling.
