Through USC's cinema school, I'll be seeing Monster's University in 4 1/2 hours! :cool1::cool1::cool1: Can't wait!!!

:wizard:

I just finished watching several of the new trailers for it a few minutes ago. I can't wait to see it! Have fun!

Wow. So that was poorly organized. So here's what happened...

2 Thursdays ago they had a sign up on line for this event at noon. By 12:02 all "spots" were full, but I had gotten my "RSVP" in in those 2 minutes. Clearly, a very popular event. They said that they would overbook the event so, technically, an RSVP didn't guarantee entrance. But they said on the day of the even they would take a first come, first serve from the RSVP list.

So fast forward to yesterday. Me and and a bunch of friends who had all gotten RSVPs lined up a little before 6 for the 7:00 showing. We are met with a MASSIVE line of people that circles the theater, and soon it becomes clear to us that we won't be able to see it. I saw someone I knew who was entering the theater and asked her what time she got in line---4:00! I also learned that they were letting people on a first come, first serve basis even if they didn't have an RSVP...so basically my "reservation" didn't mean anything, and you actually just had to get there really really early. I also think they probably "overbooked" the event a lot more than they should have. I'd expect you'd have a much lower rate of no-shows at an event like Monster's University.

Anyway, it appeared as though they turned away more people than they actually let in, and a lot of those people had signed up at noon 2 weeks ago. Even if we had gotten there an hour before we did, we wouldn't have gotten in. People weren't happy. I heard that the earliest people got there at 2PM. Sorry, I was excited about the movie, but I was not going to wait 5 hours especially because I thought I had an RSVP (plus I was at work until 5).

Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait 2 more months. Not the end of the world. Although I also did hear that Billy Crystal made a guest appearance after the screening, which would have been awesome to see. What can you do? :confused3

Aw, sorry to hear it didn't work out! That's frustrating when they set up the rules and then don't follow them. I wouldn't have waiting 5 hours either, especially when you were supposed to have a reservation.

That stinks. I would be mad. But I agree, it's not worth waiting 5 hours for and what can you do? Boo for the organizers. :(
