Hi all. I was planning on going to the "World" with my girlfriend this March but something has come up that will prevent her for going with me. Unfortunitely, my vacation has to be determined considerably in advance so I cannot change it.

I went solo in 2002 and even though I enjoyed it found myself kind of wandering aimlessly quite often, not really sure what to do that would be fun alone. Rides excluded, I know I can do all of those solo without a problem.

Does anyone know if Disney puts out a guide that would be helpful in giving ideas of possible things for a lone traveler. I play golf, so that is a possibility but other than that nothing much comes to mind. I would appreciate any and all suggestions.

Budgetary considerations mean I will be staying off site but will have a vehicle.

goofyernmost, I too am going solo due to a friend not being able to go. I'm going Feb 4th-9th. I play golf also and decided to take my clubs with me (friend doesn't play). I'll be playing three days, at least. I usually get an early tee time and am finished by 12-1 pm - plenty of time to head to a park for the evening. I have an annual pass and the golf discount is usually pretty good (14-day advance tee-times for annual pass discounts). I have done this type of trip several times in the past (solo and playing golf) - you meet the nicest folks on the courses. Take the clubs and enjoy!

Don't forget we have a board entirely devoted to solo travelers. You might want to check out the "Solo and Adult Travelers" Board.
All I can suggest offhand is to be flexible to change your plans. Boat pulling into the dock? Maybe you want to go ride it. Train pulling into the station? A rest might be good right about now. Here comes the Friendship Boat at WS-Take a round trip ride. One of the nicest conversations I had with a CM this last trip was on the Friendship Boat in WS-turns out he had friends in my hometown in MA.
