Ok, I've been once in July many years ago and all I can remember is the rain, the heat and the Brazilian teenagers! Hubby's family wants to all go together and they want to go in late July. Please tell me it will be alright!

It'll be alright--- miserably hot and crowded, but alright! :sunny:

Our friends go every year in July. Personally, it's waaay too hot and crowded during that time of year for me but they don't seem to mind it at all.

My boyfriend and I went June 27th-July 10th last year. Best holiday we've ever had. The key was good planning. Got to the parks when they opened, left about noon and went back at 5.00/5.30. Also used touring plans from the Unofficial Guide.

The Summer is great. All the rides are open, lots of fireworks/parades and live entertainment and the crowds make the place seem alive.

Enjoy!

A Bad Day is Disney is better then a great day anywhere else, so just go and enjoy your at the happies place in the world.

Disney Geek and proud of it.

You've got a problem with that.

I agree, you'll be fine. Just go in with your eyes open - hit the Parks early, leave around noon - come back at night. Use you head, drink alot & you'll have a wonderful trip.

Any Day in Disney is a Great Day.

Went this year at Spring break with my sister in law. She had been there the year before in July. Actually July 4th week. She said it was busy, but not as busy as Spring Break.. Good luck

The good points of July at WDW

Guaranteed pool weather
more entertainment
longer hours
less strollers (maybe - this isn't a scientific study, but I think there are more during winter months when school age kids are in school and parents with little ones come.)
more excitement

I would honestly choose July over January! You'll have a great time!

I've always went in July or early August. This year we are going July 23 thru July 29. It's hot, but we don't let it slow us down.

Also going late July early August and have done this two ties before and yes it is hot and sometimes crowded.....but the energy at WDW is fantastic.

Plus you'll love being able to go for a swim in the delicious pools. Great for sore feet.

That's so true. The last time we went in July we tent camped (I know, what were we thinking?) it rained so much the tent stayed wet the whole time, the screen room burned down (another story all together) and the heat was horrible, but we were at Disney so we were happy.

I just HATE heat. I'm from Alabama so I should be used to it, but I get miserable in the summer. :sad2: My favorite time to go is the week before Christmas. I had a trip planned for then and was eagerly anticipating all the planning and my hubby and his brothers sprung this on me at the last minute. Maybe that's why I'm not all that excited. I'm sure the minute I walk up Main Street, the euphoria will set in. :teeth:

How much more rain do they get in July than in June. In the Birnbaum book the average amt. of rain for July is only an inch more than June. Have been twice in June and never got rained out. Those of you who have gone in July have you gotten rained out or is it just everyday there's an afternoon thunderstorm? Thanks.

We went last July and it was just as you remembered!!

Use lots of sunscreen and buy the spray fan water bottles before you leave home (About 3.00...lots more expensive at WDW).....

I filled ours with ice at the hotel each morning so we had cool water to spray for quite awhile.....

use fast pass (oh and buy the rain ponchos at home too...)

Have fun!!!

We are also going in July! :) We will be there from July 22nd - 31st. Staying at Coronado Springs. Anyone else?

I have been to WDW a couple of times in July and it always rains in the afternoon; humid most of the day but it is always manageable. This year will be different because we will be travelling with baby for the first time.

We always go in August because it's the only time we can go. Just remember to use lots of fastpasses and the lines won't be as bad. And as for the weather, just make sure to drink a lot and stop at a lot of air conditioned shows and shops. :)

I, myself, avoid WDW June thru September like the plague. I understand that some people don't have a choice as far as timing goes, but, for the love of everything, don't flush thousands of dollars down the toilet to sweat your butt off while dealing with an annoying amount of people. A good touring plan can manage the crowds but it becomes increasingly unbearable when it is 90 to 100 degrees with 100% humidity. This kind of heat mixed with hordes of sweating people can take its toll on even the most intense WDW commando on earth.

I can't tell you how many people that I've talked to say, "we went one Summer and would never repeat that painful experience again." It's disheartening when someone's impression of Disney World is marred by such a situation. Choose your battles wisely people.

If you have to go during the Summer, yes, get there at opening and get out by 11 AM for a break. Return in the evening for the less popular attractions and, mostly, for the evening entertainment. PACE YOURSELF. You simply cannot take your time schedule for granted as you would have the freedom to do in the off-season. Be diligent with your plan and follow through with it.

I've been to WDW more times than I can count on two hands and I haven't had the gumption to go back during the Summer since around the time MGM opened in the late 80's. UGH. I just don't want my magic melted and stomped on by strangers dripping with sweat.

Just my .02 cents

We are going in July for the first time this year. We usually go in August, so I am assuming the weather will be similar. It rains pretty much every afternoon for about 30 minute to an hour. We definitely used our ponchos. We only had one day out of seven which was a wash out last summer. We still rode rides, but fantasmic was canceled that evening (of course it was the night we had a fantasmic dinner package)

It is very hot, so we do what others have said - go to the parks at opening, ride all the rides we are interested in and leave around 11:30. We go back to our hotel for naps or sometimes a swim. Then we trek back to the parks in the late afternoon for parades, shows, dinner, fireworks, browsing in shops, etc.

Thanks for making all of us going in July really bummed. I understand you want to give your opinion but you make it sound so awful to go in July. I am very excited to go and am not the type of person who gets crazy when it comes to crowds (I live in NYC). I am going to get there early, follow the touring plans, and...oh yeah...HAVE FUN!

By the way, crazyj4488, read your trip report---very much enjoyed it.

If you're crazy - so are we :) We're going July 1-8. It's the only week I have off of nursing school :flower: We'll be hot, sweaty, and crowded, but we'll love it :goodvibes:

I dunno, the OP did ask for opinions which seems to me both good and bad. I must say I'm with crazyj4488...while it's my favorite place in the world (no pun intended)...you couldn't pay me to go in the summer. I have a vivid childhood memory of our big day in the magic kingdom spent standing in very long, hot lines with very cranky parents.

I'm sure there are people who really can't take an off season vacation, but I think most people can work it out if they really want to. We always end up pulling our kids out of school during a short week; I know not everyone would agree with this, so go ahead and flame away. HOWEVER, we do put a very high importance on education in our home and we work very hard to make this work. We let teachers know our dates weeks in advance, do lots of extra assignments before we go, spend our flights in both directions working, and set aside some work time each day we are gone. Because I go very far out of my way to not inconvenience the teachers and keep my kids more than caught up, teachers have been very cooperative and my children never fall behind.

It is well worth the effort to me to make a vacation work at a time of year that is both pleasant to leave in Minnesota and pleasant to go to in Florida.
