Going from 3 rooms to 2 question

A couple questions on making a change to a reservation. we have 3 rooms on a cruise next year, 2 of the rooms have 2 people in them. there's a chance one individual will not be able to go so we would probably transfer one individual into the room (now putting 3 in the room) and cancel the 3rd room.

- if we do this, is the charge for the 3rd person in the room based on the rate we paid at time of booking or is it based on the current fare as of the date of the change?

- does it matter if i do the transfer first and then cancel the room or cancel the room and then do the transfer

The 3rd person fare should be what it was on the original booking date.

I'd transfer first, then cancel. Otherwise, that person now becomes a new cruiser in the room you move him/her to and the cost will be the prevailing cost.

Also, it will depend on whether there is still room for a 3rd person in that room. By that, I mean whether there is room at that muster station, because I assume you'd confirm there's a bed for the person. So if you cancelled first, you might discover that you aren't allowed to add another person to that room.
