We just plan on hitting Kilimanjaro and EE at AK maybe Kali if we feel like it. So it won't be to overwhelming that day. Last time we didn't do much this time the kids are older and we can try and see a few more things. That is the plan anyways

ADR's
We are going to Akershus on the 21 and to the 50's cafe on the 22 :cool1:
Sounds like fun!!! Having been on one MAW trip gives you the advantage of knowing what works and how to do things to make it even better...although I finally read Jason's TR and it looked like an amazing, fun adventure!!! :goodvibes

We didn't have any ADR's for Jason so this is exciting :cheer2:

I have read your entire report this afternoon. You have such a beautiful family. They are so lucky to have you and your husband.

My significant other Bill has Cerebral Palsy. He uses a power wheelchair (quickie P222, he actually has a permobil too but we have issues with it). He has had many tendon release and reattachment surgeries. It is so hard to see them in pain and not be able to fix it .

Sounds like you are going to have a fantastic trip!! I can't wait to read more about your plans.

Thanks for stopping by. Avy has a permobil 400. She can't drive it. She gets way to tired because she is so busy looking around making sure she isn't going to run into anything. It totally wears her out after a block or 2. We loaned it out the school for another little boy to use. He loves it so much they are working on getting insurance to pay for one for him. :thumbsup2

I just got a call and Hayden's chair is ready to be delivered. They have the back and seat of Avy's but waiting for her chair yet. I said I wanted to wait to get both chairs at the same time. I hate pulling them out of school anymore then I have too.

That is WONDERFUL the chairs are in!!! I have a question though...I thought they were homebound d/t Jason's immune system. I know you said on our PTR you don't let them do activities because of immune issues. " wow reading your schedule makes me glad Jason has no immune system and we are not allowed out in the real world." For Lisa, school was the biggest petri dish we ever encountered, that is why she is homeschooled this year. Is Jason the only one homeschooled?

Hope everything arrives quickly, that is FAST for wheelchairs though!!! :woohoo::yay::woohoo: Things are coming together!

We sent him to school this yr. I really freaked out about it but he has done really well, other then strep throat last week :lmao:
The School is very careful with him. They get a hold of me right away if he has been exposed to something. Then I really watch him like a hawk. They don't expose him to other "knew" sick kids. I still avoid lots of places like stores and Mcdonalds because I think those places full of germs. Health wise he has been doing really well. Now we have more behavior problems to deal which keeps him home from group things.

Our school was great to let us know too...we dealt with chicken pox, swine flu, regular flu, strep, mono and more...poor Lisa missed more school than she attended. We don't take Lisa to Mcdonalds, stores, etc...I understand! Glad Jason is able to go now, sorry to hear about the behavior, that is a hard thing to deal with also...:grouphug::hug:

I know at Lisa's age I wouldn't have been able to have him in public school. He went to a really small private school that only had 25 kids. He missed 8 weeks of school in 3rd grade do to a sinus infection, they almost had to do surgery it was so bad. As he has gotten older the infections have gotten better but the Autism stuff has really kicked into high gear. I am so thankful we are taking the PCA's because he needs total one on one care right now. The school found this out 3 weeks ago when he took off. Now they have a person with him the whole day  They didn't listen to me when I told them he will take off if he isn't watched. They never did find him and all he will tell me is he was walking the hallways.
We did pull him out of school in 5th grade and 1/2 of 6th and I really think it gave his immune system a break enough to kick in. His last counts were great.

Edited to add. All the kids would still be in the small private school if they hadn't closed their doors last spring. :sad1: Putting all the kids into public was really hard for me. The change is going well but it was a HUGE change. I would still have them in their private school if it was open.

I understand all to well about autism because of David...when he was at the charter school he had a one on one aide, at the private school they only had 5 in their class. Lisa's class last year was private as well, only 15 children counting her...that is the ONLY way we could do it, we could NEVER do public for her. After Christmas last year she never had a full day of school nor a full week of school. What was the point in going back...none...

Illness is why we pulled him out for 5th. Jason was out more then in. I was sick of paying for school when he was never there  When I say 25 I mean in the whole school. He was in the biggest group with 8 kids. He did really well there. Please tell me it gets better. Jason is really trying at times. The trip is stressing him out BIG time.

It gets a LOT better!!!!:grouphug::hug: David has made such HUGE gains...This is gong to sound really weird and I am NOT prescribing...but when we increased David's Vitamin D (and I mean a LOT...at the suggestion of PETE's specialist, we were already giving David Vitamin D, just not in the mega dose he suggested, we saw a HUGE difference)! It DOES get better!!!! :goodvibes

D really? I will talk to the dr. He is way better since we took him off corn and food dyes. The wandering and the attitude are so hard right now. he never wants to be by us. He takes off. I think it is a sensory thing going on.

I just PM'd you. Of course, Vitamin D isn't gong to cure everything, but we did notice it has helped some AND it has helped the entire family...I SO understand the Sensory stuff with mine all having it...plus, Jason is nearing puberty, that can have an effect on things as well...:hug:

OT: Are your parents still two of the children's three PCA's? I didn't know if they were going on this trip too, how wonderful if they are!

I think the attitude is part of the normal puberty stuff going on.

Yes my In-laws are the kids PCA's. Along with a family friend. We are one big happy family raising these kids together. They say it take a village and I have the best village people in the world. :cloud9:
