Go with the Flow....A Summer Trip to Remember! July 2012~ **Completed**

I'm sorry but it is kind of funny that the boys think that you somehow are the water magnet on Splash...:rotfl: Wow think of the power you could have if you could really control the water...;)

BTMRR is a big sentimental favorite of mine... Actually it would have been nice and made sense if the family group in front of you allowed you to pass in front of them... since there were so many of them and 4 of you...:rolleyes1 Just saying... it's the grocery store order principal... I always let people with a couple of items go ahead of me when I have a large order...:confused3

Wow... I totally forgot about Sorcerers... How long do you estimate it takes to complete a full mission?

I am a huge fan of the Disney RR... both as transportation and a good spot to take a rest for a bit...;)

Tell me more about this Sorcerers thing. I don't think I've ever heard of it....

Yay for braving the soaking and riding Splash! Who doesn't like to get wet on a hot July day in Orlando! ;)

I love Splash! And BTMRR! A good way to spend your afternoon!! I tend to snap pictures like you did..trying to grasp every little moment left! I love the balloon picture!

I know!! I couldn't believe those boys not wanting to sit with me on Splash!:rolleyes1:rotfl: You would think they would have wanted to get wet (soaked;)) since it was so hot that day!!

Hmm...I never thought of that! They should have let us pass...that would have made more sense. Actually, I think there was almost as many in front of us as there was behind us.:sad2:

I think if you did all the quests for Sorcerers it could probably take 3 hours or more. But, you don't actually have to do it all at once you can do it here and there through out the day. Noah loved it! I really wish we would have signed up for it first thing that morning instead of when we were just about ready to leave.

Well...let's see. It's an interactive game similar to the old Kim Possible missions (new Agent P in Epcot)except you get a map and five spell cards. You can pick them up on Main Street near city hall or in Liberty Square at the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe(where we picked up ours) Basically, you are on a mission to stop the villains and the way you do that is by following the map which will take you to certain spots in the park that have mystic portals which I showed Noah looking at. Your spell card will activate the portal, give you a message and then direct you where to go next until you complete the mission. The best thing is that you can do it all at once or just work on it through out the day.:thumbsup2 It was really fun! I wish we would have had more time to spend doing it.

I love Splash! And BTMRR! A good way to spend your afternoon!! I tend to snap pictures like you did..trying to grasp every little moment left! I love the balloon picture!

I know...I just wasn't ready to leave MK that afternoon even though I knew I was coming back that evening I still wanted to soak up as much as I could before we left.::yes::

"I can show you the world....Shining, shimmering, splendid." Aladdin

When I left off, we had just rode BTMRR, Splash Mountain, had a yummy lunch at Pecos Bills, played around a little in the Shooting Gallery and spent some time playing Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. Since I knew this was our last day in MK, I wanted to soak up as much of Main Street U.S.A. as I could (my favorite) before heading out for a rest that afternoon. (By the way...I'm so sad that they are closing the Main Street Bakery to open a Starbucks) I like Starbucks...but seriously you can find them anywhere. I think the bakery is so much a part of what makes Main Street U.S.A. so special.....

Anyway....

After taking a little rest and watching some more of Stacey on television we decided to get up and head back to the Magic Kingdom to have dinner. I hadn't booked an ADR for dinner on this evening because I knew that we would be attending the Dessert Party later on. I wanted to make sure that we would have plenty of room for the all the yummy desserts!

We made our way down to the bus stop, hopped on the Magic Kingdom bus and made our way to the back. As we sat down there was a little boy who started talking with the boys or actually started talking to me. He told me his name and that he was four year old. He asked me the boys names and then basically told me everything about his life. It was the cutest thing! He was on the lookout for Daisy Duck but hadn't found her yet. I told him of a few places that we had seen her before. It was his first trip to Disney and you could just see the excitement in his face. They were visiting the Magic Kingdom for the first time that evening and we were telling him of all the fun he was going to have and that it was our favorite park.

As we pulled into the Magic Kingdom, we waved our goodbyes and told them to have a great night. I spotted the train station in the distance--
436-1.jpg

I was so happy that we were back! Seriously, I think I could spend every day of our vacation at the Magic Kingdom and be perfectly happy!!

I stopped to get a quick picture of the boys. They weren't really in the mood and just wanted to get inside but being the good boys that they are, they stopped long enough to make their mom happy!!
437-1.jpg

We decided to head right to Cosmic Rays to grab something to eat. We had never eaten here before but I had always read good things so we thought we would give it a try!

Can you believe I have no pictures of walking down Main Street...or the castle on our way?

We finally arrived and with the exception of Nick, we all decided to have chicken. The Rotisserie Chicken and Ribs for DH and I and of course chicken nuggets for Noah. ( I'm surprised Noah still likes them after eating them so much that week!!) Anyway, we stepped up to order and found a very unfriendly CM. No smile...no hello. Honestly, I don't know if she spoke at all during the entire transaction. We waited for a few minutes, got our food and found a table close by. Nick had decided he wanted a hamburger so DH had to take him back up since you have to go to a different counter for that. Unfortunately, Nick forgot to get his condiments after getting his burger and let me just say that having to weave our way back through people coming in and going out with a tray full of food wasn't fun. Overall, we were pleased with our meal and despite the grumpy CM, we will probably be back! The servings are huge so much so that I ended up splitting mine with both the boys. It really is a great use of a CS credit!

Here is a picture of the ribs and chicken combo courtesy of the Disney Food Blog

It was so huge and very good but Im not sure I would recommend it for a night you are going to a Dessert Party.

After dinner we headed out and decided to take a walk

442-1.jpg

We made our way near the castle
446-1.jpg

447-1.jpg

The boys hadn't gotten a chance to try their hand at pulling out the sword yet so we stopped so they could give it a go!
Come on, Noah! You can do it!!
448-1.jpg

Oh well...good try!
Nicks up!!
449-1.jpg

Good try, Nick!

After facing defeat trying to pull out the sword, we decided to make our way over to one of our very favorite attractions....Mickeys Philharmagic!!
450-1.jpg

I absolutely love this attraction!! We had a blast flying through London with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, grabbing at the jewels, smelling freshly baked pie in the air, and taking a ride on a Magic Carpet. (the inspiration for the quote at the beginning) It was definitely a great time!

After enjoying the show, we decided to head back over to Tomorrowland through the rose garden.

While I was concentrating on how the castle looked from this angle, Noah was concentrating on the actual flowers on our walk

We finally made it over to Tomorrowland-

Since we hadn't been able to ride Toy Story Mania another time the day before, I decided that Nick and I could get our rematch on Buzz.
A couple of our blurry pictures--

458.jpg

Im pretty sure Nick beat me...Im usually terrible at this ride.

After riding Buzz, we were going to check out the wait time for Space Mountain but decided against it since we had a couple more things we wanted to do before the Dessert Party began.

We cut through the hub over to Liberty Square. The hub was packed with people waiting for the parade to begin. It wasn't even 7:30pm yet. Boy, was I glad we werent fighting with the crowds trying to find a spot to watch the parade or Wishes later on.

We finally made it to our destination!
460.jpg

Noah really wanted to visit this attraction since he was learning about the presidents in school.

We all really enjoyed the attraction. It was much better than I thought it would be and Im glad we took the time to see it.

After the Hall of Presidents, we had one more stop we wanted to make before checking in to the Dessert Party. It was already inching close to 8:00pm and we wanted to be checking in around 8:30pm so that left us about 30 minutes to make it to our destination.

Well...what was it?

The Enchanted Tiki Room! It was of the attractions DH had asked about so we thought we would check it out as well on this evening. (Another new thing for us!)

I thought I had taken a couple pictures during the attraction but apparently I didn't. Now...I love all things classic Disney but I have to admit that this was definitely not a favorite of any of ours. I tried to like it...I really did but it wasn't for us. Regardless, I'm still glad we gave it a try!

At this point it was inching on 8:30pm so we quickly made our way over to Main Street so we could cut across over near the Plaza to the Tomorrowland Terrace. We had a dessert party to attend!!

Up Next--Wishes Dessert Party!

I read the second to the last update the other day but, apparently, I forgot to post so I'll do that now even though I'm sure I'll forget what order I'm supposed to comment. I got tickled when you mentioned that you are a splash magnet because I am too. If there's a splash of water to be splashed, it's usually on me.

Good for you guys not letting the second half of the large group move on ahead of you. If they wanted to stay together then they should have stayed together. Sorry!

I would love to have a taco salad right about now even though it's only 9:12 here in Louisiana. Pecos Bill's is one of our favorites.

Okay, let's see what else. Hum. Oh yeah, the latest update. I can't believe that ya'll are spending your last few vacation hours already. It seems like the vacation flew by. At least you're getting to see a lot of things before you head to the dessert party.

I'm not sure if it's been confirmed one way or the other yet, but I'm hoping that the Bakery reopens after an overhaul - still as the Bakery but just having the Starbucks coffee added to it. My DH was sooo disappointed they were doing anything to it at all. :sad2:

That boy on the bus was so Demetri! He'll chat with anyone and tell them his life story if they glance his way :lmao:

Love all the castle pics and Noah's rose garden tour. I can't remember the last time I went through that area.

Blah to the Tiki room. Didn't work out for me either when I gave it a try but oh well, at least you've seen it now.

You know it's funny, I actually liked the Tiki Room Under New Management, better! Go figure.

I had that Taco salad for the first time this last trip. Loved the salad although the "bowl" was a bit limp for my taste. You have gotten a lot done and still have the dessert party :cool1: I'll look forward to reading about it.

I am so hoping that they make minimal changes to the Main Street Bakery... and this is coming from a Starbucks diehard... but you can find them anywhere... I really hope they don't get rid of any of the unique Disney stuff...
couldn't they just serves the coffee but not be a "Starbucks" ...?:confused3

I could almost spend everyday at the Magic Kingdom...that is the park that makes me feel the saddest when I know it's our last time there for that trip...:(

Looks like good food from CRs despite the rude CM... ummm not to sound tech illiterate... but are there photos you can just "borrow" from the Dis Food Blog?

You have some gorgeous shots of the castle....

Don't you think the boys would have been pretty shocked if the sword had come out...:lmao: I would be...

Hmmm.... may have to do Hall of Presidents especially after David's President project...

thank you... I feel I have an official review of Tiki Birds... and I don't have to do it without guilt...;)

Yum! I could really go for a taco salad from Pecos Bill's right about now myself! Very tasty! I'm glad we finally made it back there!:thumbsup2

The vacation really did fly right by! But, it's been so much fun reliving it!:)

I really hope that is what they decide to do as well. The other day when I was reading the Disney parks blog it sounded like it was going to become a Starbucks but they were going to keep some of the Main Street baked goods. But, this morning I read that they were keeping the name but as you said just adding the Starbucks coffee. So confused!:rolleyes1 I guess we'll just have to wait and see....

That little boy was the cutest! I couldn't believe how well-spoken he was for four. He was so polite but didn't stop talking the entire trip. It was too funny!

Exactly! Glad to have seen the Tiki room....but probably won't be back.

I'm glad that we gave the Tiki Room a try but I doubt we'll be back.

I can't wait to share the dessert party! It was definitely a highlight of the trip!:thumbsup2

I would be really sad if they made major changes to the Main Street Bakery.:sad1: This morning I read somewhere that they are going to keep the name but add the Starbucks coffee. I hope so! If it has to be...I like this idea better than completely changing it!

I completely agree about the Magic Kingdom! Although, I love it so much...it really is the park that I dread leaving the most.

We enjoyed Cosmic Ray's! Although, the service left a lot to be desired...the food more than made up for it! Oh..I just googled the food pic. But, I love the DisneyFoodBlog! Their pictures are amazing! I would just make sure to give them credit if a picture is used.:thumbsup2

The boys would have definitely been surprised if that sword came out! I'm not sure that Nick really tried. I've told them that it really does come out...but they don't believe me.:rotfl:

 Too funny about the Tiki Room! Yeah...no need to feel guilty now.

Great shots of the castle! I love seeing castle pictures!!

I tried the chicken at Cosmic Rays in March and it was so good! You can't beat that for a CS meal! It is "real" food for a quick meal!! I am terrible at Buzz too so do not feel bad!

I have yet to see the Tiki attraction...I have never been overly disappointed in missing it but one day I hope to do it for the sake of seeing it! Mickey's Philharmonic though is great and I get super bummed when I miss it on a trip!!

I can't wait to hear how you liked the dessert party! It is on my list for the next family trip!

I'm glad we tried the Tiki Room as it's been on our list of attractions to try for the longest time. I'm not sure we'll be back but at least I can cross it off our list now.

The dessert party is coming up next!:)

I'm sitting on the edge of my chair to hear about the dessert party!! :) It's nice to end a trip with something special!! The last day is really depressing, though!

"When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires, will come to you...." Pinocchio

When I left off we had tried many new things, Cosmic Ray’s, Hall of President’s and the Tiki Room. We also walked through the rose garden for the very first time, enjoyed Mickey's Philharmagic and Nick and I were able to battle it out on Buzz.

We’d had a fun evening so far but little did we know the best was yet to come. We had a dessert party to attend! Now, I must admit I was very hesitant to book the dessert party. Although, I had read great things about it, I wasn’t sure if it would really be worth the money. Couldn’t we just grab something from the bakery and find a spot on Main Street to camp out and wait for Wishes to start? Well….we could have but we’ve done that before and if you happened to read any of my previous TR’s you may remember that DH does not like crowds! At all. He gets really grumpy and I feel like I spend so much time trying to get him to relax and enjoy the atmosphere that I have a hard time enjoying it myself.

So, after doing a little research I thought that this would hopefully solve that problem. I could actually enjoy watching Wishes and be able to eat some yummy desserts as well. I knew that once I mentioned a dessert buffet to the boys that they would be in and once I mentioned to DH that he would have a place to sit and be able to have a cup of coffee and relax, he would be in. Great! Unfortunately, I did my research a little late because reservations had already opened up for our date 3 weeks before and being the good Diser that I am, I also knew that it meant that our table wouldn’t be near the front (close to the railing) since apparently, you are seated according to when you book. However, it still sounded too good to pass up so I booked it anyway and hoped for the best.

When we arrived at the Tomorrowland Terrace, we walked up to the podium gave them our name and we were immediately brought to our table. We arrived around 8:30pm and there was already quite a few people there.
Here is our view from our table—
470.jpg

Not bad…but see what I mean about booking later. My advice is if you want to be near the front then definitely book when they open up the ADR’s.

We didn’t mind though…we still had a great view of the castle and when 9:00pm came we could still see the parade in the distance. Not a great view of the parade…but still pretty good.
Here is my blurry zoomed in picture-
468.jpg

We put down our things and immediately made our way up to the buffet. Since I didn’t get a picture of the actual buffet…here is a list of things that were served that night:
Menu---
Chocolate Truffles
Cupcakes
Pistachio Creme Brulee
Chocolate Dipped Strawberry
Glazed Donut Holes
Brownie
Cookie
Rice Crispy Treats
Cheesecake (plain and chocolate)
Fruit Tarts (mandarin orange and kiwi), (banana cream), (Strawberry Berry), (Key Lime)
Chocolate Peanut Butter Tart
Tiramisu
Fresh Fruit (watermelon, melon, pineapple, cantaloupe)
Cannoli
Mango Shots
They also had ice cream and toppings.

The beverages included:

Raspberry Lemonade (very tasty!)
Lemonade
Ice Tea
Milk
Water
Hot Chocolate
Coffee
Tea

Here is a picture of our plates when we got back to the table-

461.jpg

The plate above included the Tiramisu (very yummy!), the Strawberry Berry Tart (loved this!), watermelon, chocolate covered strawberry, cookie, brownie, rice crispy treat, and cupcake. Oh..and the chocolate cheesecake that was already eaten. The only thing I didn’t care for was the mango shooter but the boys liked it. So, I guess it’s just your taste preference.

462.jpg

This is just a closer shot and you can actually see the Chocolate Peanut Butter tart which I really liked as well.

I snapped a few more pictures of the castle while we were eating—
463.jpg

464.jpg

The boys were really enjoying their desserts!
465.jpg

466.jpg

On one of our times up to the buffet, we stopped to get a photopass picture. (It's hanging in our family room...and when I get a chance I will take it down and get a picture and add it in.)

One of the things that I was worried about when I booked so late was how crowded it was going to get at the railing since most people move up when the fireworks start to get a better view. I had read some reports that people can get pretty rude trying to claim a spot which definitely worried me. So, after enjoying my yummy desserts, I told the guys that they could stay back but I was going to wander up to get some better castle pictures (and hopefully save a spot as well)

While they finished there desserts, I had fun snapping away—

Finally, it was time for the Magic, Memories and You show to start. I was so excited to see this that I couldn’t resist checking it out on Youtube before the trip, watching it multiple times. Seeing it in person was amazing! We all loved it!

Here is a little clip that I videotaped of some of my favorite parts of the show—

(just click on the picture)

Then it was finally time for Wishes to begin—
482.jpg

483.jpg

484.jpg

485.jpg

487.jpg

488.jpg

489.jpg

It really was so magical to see it from this angle. I know some people might be disappointed because the fireworks didn't go directly over the castle like you see it on Main Street but we loved seeing the reflection over the water. It was amazing...especially when Tinker Bell flew right over top of us!

Now…I’m not going to lie it was pretty pricy. Our total cost was $105.40 for the four of us. But, in our opinion it was definitely worth it! DH was able to enjoy the Wishes for the first time…stress-free. Which made it stress-free for me as well. The boys loved the desserts and the fact that I was letting them eat that many sweets so late at night was such a treat for them.

I think one of the best things I did though was to plan our party night for an EMH evening so we didn’t have to fight the crowds on the way out. We left and entered Tomorrowland with very little crowds. It was great!

So, the real question is would we ever do it again! Definitely! I don’t think we’ll do it on every trip (although…the boys and DH might disagree with this as they loved it so much) But, it would be a really great way to celebrate a special occasion or if you just want to try something new.

Next up!! A night to remember….continued.

I'm sitting on the edge of my chair to hear about the dessert party!! :) It's nice to end a trip with something special!! The last day is really depressing, though!

Just posted it.:goodvibes

The last full day of a trip is always so sad...it was wonderful to make those last few hours so special.:thumbsup2

That was a great review of the Wishes Dessert Party...I'm thinking about booking that for our trip next July...

I was kind of curious about the seating... it still looks like you had pretty good seats...:goodvibes

There a quite a bit of desserts aren't there? That doesn't seem like something you'd want to do after a sit down dinner... What time do they actually start seating and serving ?

This isn't the end end ... is it...? :sad1:

Thanks so much for your review of the Wishes Dessert Party. For many many years, we watched the parade and fireworks from that very spot and often said that we wondered why Disney didn't charge people to watch from there. Guess somebody got smart didn't they?

John's a sweet eater and a coffee drinker so I know that he'd get his money's worth out of the party. I think I may try and see if I can wiggle our ADRs around and work the party into our trip next year.

This is the way it is with us too. I stress too much trying to keep him happy.

Unfortunately, I did my research a little late because reservations had already opened up for our date 3 weeks before and being the good Diser that I am, I also knew that it meant that our table wouldn’t be near the front (close to the railing) since apparently, you are seated according to when you book.

When we went, all the tables in the front row were 2-seaters. We were a party of 2, so we did get one of those seats. But I don't think all those parties of 2 booked first, just the way they set them up. And even in the front, we had to stand up to the railing to see the show, so it really doesn't matter where you sit. Just so nice to have an assigned seat!

One of the things that I was worried about when I booked so late was how crowded it was going to get at the railing since most people move up when the fireworks start to get a better view. I had read some reports that people can get pretty rude trying to claim a spot which definitely worried me.

But it wasn't bad, was it? I mean, people definitely got up to watch, but there was plenty of room at the railing...right? Still way way way better than Main Street! :thumbsup2

So worth it. We will be doing this every time we go from now on! Loved it!

I think one of the best things I did though was to plan our party night for an EMH evening so we didn’t have to fight the crowds on the way out. We left and entered Tomorrowland with very little crowds. It was great!

Us too....this was a must for us because I had heard horror stories of trying to get out the Main Street side. It worked perfectly heading out to TomorrowLand. Yay! You have me so excited to do this again next year :cheer2:

I could have written these exact words! The crowds are the sole reason Keith doesn't like Magic Kingdom!!

I am pretty sold on the dessert party. I am all for paying for convenience and good sweets!!!
