Go Big or Go Home! 17 Days of Disney Dining! COMPLETE & Food & Wine Fest Index

I spent the weekend reading your report and I have really enjoyed it!! I am currently "planning" a relaxed, laid back trip for DH and I next month. I am hoping to try many new places (that we can hopefully just get seated as a walk up with ADRs) so your report has given me many new ideas.

17 days...amazing!! :)

Those tacos at San Angel look fantastic! And omggg, I'd eat everything you guys had at Captain's Grille. What a great meal!

and I was all set for the crab cakes. Then the waiter made the crab legs sound SOOOO good that I switched. Now I regret it even more than I did that night. Just way too much work for the reward. The crab cake looks amazing! DD had the short ribs which she loved and DH had something apparently forgetable & bemoaned not getting the short ribs too. I was going to write the place off but maybe I have to at least TRY the crab cakes :rolleyes1

You made me giggle by spitting out the sushi from Japan!! My husband and I did the same thing, but only it was the chicken roll! It was the most disgusting thing I have ever put in my mouth!:hyper:

Wow! Captain’s Grille looks like a GREAT (and largely over-looked) option. I am blown away by the size of that shrimp appetizer - yum!!! Both entrees look absolutely delicious - I am totally thinking we need to add this place to the must-try list!

:rotfl2: I have obviously never passed by the BW pool at night - because I would REMEMBER that sight!!! :scared1:

Firstly, thanks for the scary clown photo - now I will not sleep tonight :rotfl: Actually, that damn clown is the only thing I don't like about the Boardwalk Inn/villas. It's fine (well, bearable) during the day but downright freaky at night - Stephen King's IT has nothing on that clown.

Secondly, how could you, how dare you like Captain's Grille? And, more importantly, how dare you post the picture of those buttermilk fried shrimp. Now I just HAVE to find a way to eat there next month just to have those :rotfl2:

:lmao: I totally agree about the clown. I think enough people on this planet have clown phobias, so who's brilliant idea was it to have that great big clown mouth be such a prominent piece of the resort?

It is getting to the point where we have have TOO MANY great places to eat in WDW. Now we have to have Captain's Grille in our regular rotation as well. I hope you are somehow able to fit it into your upcoming trip!

Captains Grille always looks so nice, glad you enjoyed your meal there :)

The clown looks like it as ten pin bowling pins in it's eyes :scared1:

We definitely did enjoy it. We are looking forward to going again in September.

That clown is the worst. Thanks goodness we didn't have a view of that pool from our room!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon reading your dining reviews. Many of them were off the beaten path and have made me re-think some of my choices for my trip in 15 days. Thanks so much for taking the time to be so detailed and informative!! Btw, you and your husband are adorable!!

Thanks so much for the wonderful compliments! I'm a little behind on my posts so I'm guessing you're at WDW right about now. Hope you are having an awesome time! :thumbsup2

Another fab review!

1999-Swan, 2001- Grand Floridian, 2002-Yacht & Beach Club, 2003- Animal Kingdom Lodge,2004- Grand Floridian&Disney Cruise,2006- Off site, 2008- Dolphin, 2009-AKV Kidani, 2010-Saratoga Springs ,2011-AKV Kidani ,2012 - Port Orleans, DCL-Dream & Beach Club, 2013 - AKV Kidani

Thanks! I was really looking forward to posting that Captain's Grille review since it turned out to be one of our favorite places this trip.

Wow, we've never considered Captain's Grille before but we will now!
The menu looks really good and it sounds like it's one of the easier places to get a last minute reservation :)

I really hope you check it out on another trip! We were so pleasantly surprised by our experience there. And you're right, we had no issue getting a table even though every place in Epcot was totally booked. I always love a hidden gem like that!

Oh.My.Gosh. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl::lmao: My DH & I are LOL right now @ Rob's drink choice b/c we BOTH ordered that thinking it looked amazing w/ the cherries, well.... strong it was!!!!! That was THE strongest cocktail ever! I was gasping for air after every sip until I had to ask the bartender for a large glass of ice & sprite or club soda to make it lighter. I tried the diluted version but finally passed it over to my hubby. I'm a sucker for cherries but I should have read the description closer. Less than 1/2 of that drink had me very buzzed. We have some good memories from that night though, singing on the bus & all kinda funny stuff. :drinking1:drinking1

Anyway...We loved SAI last trip, it was the perfect atmosphere & food! Loved that meal. CG is really good, but it's been years since we ate there & what you had looks amazing! +I think I wanna try the breakfast there. Yum!

:lmao: That is too funny! If Rob says a drink is strong, I know it's strong! You would never know from the pretty picture in the menu how crazy strong it is. At least it sounds like you had some fun with the drink!

I'm glad you enjoyed SAI too! You really can't beat the atmosphere there. I really want to try breakfast at CG too. In fact, I don't know why the heck we didn't go this time. What was I thinking?

Okay...you had me with the pictures of "Gnocchi Sea Gnocchi Do" at Raglan Road. I immediately put that one on my list. In fact, it's going to be dinner our first night. Now I see your pictures/reviews Captain's Grille. I have 3 weeks until I can make my ADRs (yes I am counting down). I thought I had everything picked out. Now, I am thinking of changing my Trail's End to Captain's Grille. It looks really good.

You've had both, which do you prefer (for dinner)? We are going to TE for breakfast. My husband saw the picture of the pulled pork eggs benedict and said we had to eat there. We are staying in the cabins, so I will be close.

We have 1 TS left. If you think something else is better than TE or Captain's Grille, please tell me. Right now we are eating at: Raglan Road, Boma, Teppan Edo, Be Our Guest (dinner), and 'Ohana. Suggestions for a non park dinner?

The Gnocchi Sea Gnocchi Do was so amazing! I hope you do get to try it! I didn't get to have TE for dinner, but CG was definitely a standout for us. If you're doing TE for breakfast then CG might be the way to go for dinner. I really want to try TE for dinner next time, but I'm not sure if we can fit it in.

I think you have a great lineup there! I have never done Teppan Edo and while I didn't care for BOG I think dinner looks more appealing to me. Not sure if there are any 1 TS credit non-park restaurants that top CG for me. :thumbsup2

I'm getting caught up Jeri.... I've missed a few meals, snacks, and food booth items! You had the ultimate Disney dining trip! I want to be you with a 17 day Disney trip during F&W!! :worship:

We unexpectedly loved SAI last August. It didn't hurt that we had that lovely seat next to the water and that we had a very sweet server. I thought the food wasn't that spicy but it wasn't bad. Glad you liked it as well.

Those eyes at night on the clown slide... creepy!

Captain's Grille being a surprise hit was great. And a top 5 for Rob. That's an impressive meal. We've had breakfast there many times which I love but dinner there twice and it was just ok. Maybe I have not ordered the few amazing dishes yet. We'll just say it's me! ::yes::

Still following along albeit while catching up. :)

I don't know how I am ever going to top this trip. 17 days in WDW spoiled me for life!

I'm glad you enjoyed SAI too. We really enjoy our meals there. Although we may have to skip it next time. Too many great places, so little time!

I really want to try CG for breakfast. We should have eaten there this time while we were staying close by. Their buffet looks delicious!

Thanks so much for reading along! I hope you and your DH get the relaxing trip you want. Not having reservations only backfired on us a few times, but it usually worked out better in the end. That's the only way we found B&C and Captain's Grille. Usually the laid back trips are the most fun. Hope you have a wonderful time on your upcoming trip! :thumbsup2

Those tacos at San Angel look fantastic! And omggg, I'd eat everything you guys had at Captain's Grille. What a great meal!

That was a pretty great food day, I must admit. No reservations and we still ended up eating two amazing meals. It's great when it all just comes together like that!

and I was all set for the crab cakes. I have the same issue with crab legs. They're good, but I hate working for it. You definitely need to return for the crab cakes. They're worth the trip! :thumbsup2

You made me giggle by spitting out the sushi from Japan!! My husband and I did the same thing, but only it was the chicken roll! It was the most disgusting thing I have ever put in my mouth!:hyper:

:rotfl: I am so dramatic sometimes! That sushi really was nasty for me though. Wow, even the chicken roll was that bad? I guess some of us just aren't sushi people.

:scared1:

We were shocked by the portion size as well! We could have easily made a meal out of just our appetizers. Rob has to eat here in September, so I hope it's just as good the second time.

:lmao: That darn pool is just too freaky!!!

A pleasure! This thread has been a real pleasure to to read! Thank you!

Thanks so much! Only a few more updates left. At least I get to start a new one in less than 7 months. :thumbsup2

Sorry for the long delay folks! All work and no play for me lately. But thanks to mother nature dumping snow on us yet again I am home from work today, so I'll try and sneak in a few updates today on this unexpected day off.

We decided to spend another morning at HS in order to get in another ride on TSMM. After we rode that with a FP+ we booked, we went off to grab breakfast. Rob was fine with Fairfax Fare once again.

Once again he had the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Muffin and a Cheese Danish.

While he waited in line here I made a side trip to Starring Rolls Cafe.

I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I knew I didn't want Fairfax Fare again. After looking over the cases of goodies I decided on my usual favorite. The Red Velvet Cupcake.

I also got one of the annoyingly tiny cartons of milk.

Not my favorite breakfast of the trip. I like this cupcake, but I wasn't in the mood for it. I wanted a real breakfast but unfortunately I had limited options this morning. I ate the icing and cheesecake mixture off the top and threw most of the cake in the trash. :sad2:

We did just a few more rides and after using our last FP+ of the day at Rock 'n' Roller Coaster we left HS for the day.

Now we're off to DTD!

After our short morning at HS we headed over to DTD. Our first stop was lunch at our favorite spot. WPE of course!

I actually convinced Rob to split a meal with me for a change, so we both decided on the Pepperoni and Mushroom Pizza.

I have never had a pizza here that I didn't like. This one was delicious! We both loved it! This time I was wishing we weren't sharing because I wanted this yummy pizza all to myself. We got our AP discount here today as well, so it was great food at a discount. Can't beat that! :thumbsup2

Now we are headed to movie number 6 of the trip. Escape Plan!

Once again he had the Sausage, Egg and Cheese Muffin and a Cheese Danish.

Deja vu ;)

I decided on my usual favorite. The Red Velvet Cupcake.

You WHAT!!!!!!! :scared1: You know, Jeri, you can go off a person :rotfl2:

Sorry you were disappointed with your breakfast. I personally think the breakfast option at DHS are somewhat limited (although I am ALWAYS happy with cake for breakfast).

I am very sad that this is almost over. Can't believe I have to wait 7 months for the next one :sad2:

I love Disney cheese Danish pastries :)
For some reason I didn't pick one up on my last trip :(
Count me in as a big fan of WPE - love their pizzas

Mmmm - that red velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls always looks so delicious to me.

The WPE pizza looks pretty darn tasty too!

Whew, started reading your food TR last night, and finished it tonight! My husband kept asking me what I was reading! Mind your own beeswax! ;) No, not really. He just wouldn't understand if I told him I was enthralled with reading about other people's dining experiences, lol. I'm loving your report! We've been to WDW a zillion times, and have eaten almost everywhere on property, but we've still missed a few.

We haven't had a trip with just the two of us since I don't remember when. Our last trip, which was this past October, there were 19 of us, of which four were our grandsons ages at the time 9 months to 7 years old, on their first Disney trip. Anyway, just hubby & I are going in September, and I want this to be a really special trip. We're celebrating my birthday, as well as our wedding anniversary. You have given me great ideas of what foods to try! We planned the trip for the day the F&W Festival starts, so am really excited about that. Looking forward to the rest of your report!

WPE has fantastic pizza, great picture :)

Pizza looks so good!

It was! I wish there was a WPE nearby because I would probably eat there every single day. :thumbsup2

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I know, i know. Terrible. I did eat all the frosting at least. :thumbsup2

I am usually quite content with sweets for breakfast, but I just wasn't feeling it this time for some reason.

I am already jumping into full Disney planning obsession. I'm much better off booking a trip last minute because otherwise I talk Rob's ear off about it for months. I already have a plan for ADRs. One more week until I can start booking them. Woohoo!

I love Disney cheese Danish pastries :)

Their cheese danish are my favorite! I am always sad when I don't get to have a few on my trips. I got plenty this time, so I was quite happy!

Yum! I can't wait for WPE in September!

Mmmm - that red velvet cupcake from Starring Rolls always looks so delicious to me.

The WPE pizza looks pretty darn tasty too!

It is really good. I just wasn't in the mood for it this time for some reason, but it certainly is tasty.

Their pizza is the best! Might be my all time favorite pizza.

following!!

Thanks so much for joining in! :goodvibes

That pizza looks so yummy, just off to the kitchen for a snack :rotfl:

 That's the worst part of doing these dining reviews. It makes me so hungry!

:laughing:My husband doesn't fully understand either. He plays along, but just doesn't get it. Thanks so much for joining in! I'm so glad you are enjoying it!

19 people! Holy smokes! I don't think I could handle that. That's so awesome that you get to go just the two of you this time. We will actually be leaving the day after F&W starts and we will be there for the first day of it. Maybe we'll see you there! We are celebrating our anniversary this trip too. I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful time celebrating in September!

WPE has fantastic pizza, great picture :)

Yum! It is the best! Okay, now I really want pizza. :rotfl:

The bbq chicken pizza at WPE is also delish:)

That one sounds good too. I might have to try it next trip. I really wanted to try the meatball one this time, but when we got there I didn't see it on the menu. They have too many great items to try there!
