Gnomies Gone Wild

Oh, Paula. Sounds like a rough morning. I hope both of your days got better as time wore on. :goodvibes

Stacy- I agree w/ Katie, jewelry sounds like a fun place to be to me too! I really hope you enjoy! :) And way to tease us with a potential Sept/Oct trip. ;)

Jen- good luck with the TX paperwork for certification and hope you beat whatever sickness is brewing!

LL- sorry about ticker envy. You know there is a "simple" (but expensive) fix to that... :rolleyes1

So looking like a snow day for me tomorrow! :yay: Unfortunately snow day is not code for sit on the couch and watch soaps. I'll have to work from home but I can still do it in my sweats and DIS in between so that is fine by me!!

Facebookers- I hate the new settings. I'm seeing too much. No offense but I don't care who my friends are now friends with or on whose threads they are commenting... how do I turn it off????

10-16" of snow according to the weather.... :sad2:

I wish I could work from home. I had the most trying 30 minutes of my work career today. I am still fuming mad. :headache:

I'm not a huge fan of the new facebook layout either.

The most trying 30 min of your career??? :scared: That is terrible. Hope everything is ok. Deep breaths.

Down with the new FB layout!

I'll be DIS'ing up a storm tomorrow if you're around!! :upsidedow

I don't like the new layout either.... but what is funny.... it is alot like the one 2 remodels(????) ago?? It seems like everytime I get used to an updated layout...they change it again.

Allison and I watched Hercules tonite. It has been ages and ages since I had seen it. We ended up watching it inmy room...cause thats where the only vcr we have left is LOL!

Enjoy your work from home day tomarrow C! I would like to work from home...basically since they are calling for nother 12 inched of snow....andI don't want to dig my car out to go LOL!!

LL...sorry that you had such a nasty day at work. I hate days like that!
sorry too that the trip in october seems to be out...I was really looking forward to meetingup with you! Of course, that said... Tom and I are looking at a long weekend trip to Boston this spring...maybe we can have dinner??:goodvibes

Stacy... The jewelry job sounds fun! I would be at risk of spending my paycheck on all the pretty baubles I see everyday though:rolleyes1

Jen...hope you are feeling better soon!

Katie...hi! thanks for your story about patrick:flower3: I am really feeling at a loss at how to deal with my baby... its so nice to have another mom to help give me some perspective

I'm with you P, I just wish FB would stop redoing everything! In just over a year that I have been on, they have changed the mainpage 4 times! Not sure my Patrick story helps much but at least it reminds you that you are not alone

C, I know there is a way you can set what type of info you want to receive on FB but don't really know how. (big help huh!) Everytime something comes up that doesn't interest me (horoscopes, sorority life, mafia wars, etc) I block that application and eventually have slimmed down the types of notifications that comes through. How nice you get to work from home when weather is nasty!

LL, what in the world happened at work????

After an early out Monday, no school yesterday and a late start today :sad2:...it looks like we will get a couple "normal" days before the next storm hits over the weekend. I am so sick of winter!!!!!!!!!

I don't want to get into here, but let's just say that what happened will be addressed today. I am still not happy.

P, let me know when you are coming to Boston. We are pretty close to Boston and if you'll have a car, I wouldn't mind doing a dinner at my house for you. We could even see if C wants to come up too! That would be so much fun.

I'd love to come to Boston! :)

Well snow hasn't even started here yet but the forecasters are still saying "it's coming." We'll see...

Well all of you up North in the path of that storm stay safe and stay warm!!

I'm trying to stay warm myself...this morning with the windchill it felt like 25 degrees outside which is simply not acceptable for Florida LOL!!!

I am starting to feel better but poor Phillip is miserably sick so I shared it with him poor guy!!

Hi, Gnomies. I wish about a foot of snow would fall here, so I could be done with this horrendous week. I was at work from 7:15 yesterday morning until 8:00 last night with parent conferences and an observation by our curriculum director thrown in for fun. Today, I was here at 7:15 and there is a faculty meeting this afternoon. I am over it.

It was 25 this morning, but felt like 17 with the wind chill. I am so over freezing to death.

Not to mention, I now get to discipline Chelsea because she has lost her good sense. Her friend had her cell phone confiscated this morning because she was texting in class. Guess who said friend was texting at 9:09 this morning? Yep, my daughter, who should have been listening to her science teacher explain the different systems of the body. :headache: Nothing like the school police officer asking me, "Are the last four digits of Chelsea's phone number ****?" and the answer being yes. :sad2:

On a good note, LL, the latest Pink Carnation book, The Betrayal of the Blood Lily is really good. I love that the setting has moved to India with this one. It makes me want to go get an iced chai in the Animal Kingdom and watch the tigers for awhile.

Awwwww, CP! You totally need an iced chai at Animal Kingdom. :grouphug:

The next Pink Carnation book is waiting for me at the library. I plan to go tomorrow and pick it up. Very excited!

Or a Lost on Safari at the Dawa Bar -- I am not choosy.

I plan on curling up with it after dinner tonight and woe to the person who interrupts me. ;)

On the bright side, my seventh graders are watching The Outsiders this afternoon (we just finished the book), and I am all caught up on everything, so I can DIS.

DISing is good. I think I'm going to have to cut way back on my subscriptions. I'm so overwhelmed when I log in that I haven't read anything all day today except the Gnomie thread.

I just finished a book by Diane Chamberlain, have you ever read her? I was so engrossed in the last one of hers I read. Secret Lives. So good. I already started another one of her books.

I can identify with that feeling. There are some days when I have to keep a list of subscriptions that I need to go back and read because there are so many. Just don't cut back on my PTR. ;)

I haven't but I have to head to the library tomorrow. I am putting her name on my book list. I also want to get Shanghai Girls by Lisa See and The Good Wife by Robert Goolrick.

Of course you will make the list if I do cut them down!

I have mixed feelings about Shanghai Girls. I listenend to it in my car...and it took me awhile to get into it but I kept up with it and then I was really mad about the ending, in fact I still am. She better be writing a sequel for it is all I've got to say.

Geesh CP!

On the bright side, it could have been Chelsea doing the texting! (or were they going back and forth?)

I  The Outsiders! I can't even tell you how many times I read that book and watched that movie (it WAS full of hotties, that probably had something to do with it)

I was about to say I ADORED The Outsiders...book and movie, but oh the movie was there ever so much yummy goodness in one film LOL!!!

Oh CP...yuck to the cell phone issues! I had to take one away from one of my students today and its amazing...tears and everything!! They do not like their cell phones taken away at all!! Hope it goes well with Chelsea!

I'm anxious for this week to be over between being sick, packing up the house, trying to get fingerprinted, and all that I'm just over it. Can we FF'd to the beginning of June please LOL!!!

But the cover is so pretty. Did you read the other one -- the Snow Fan one?

Geesh CP!

Oh, Chelsea was texting back. My daughter is such an idiot that she knew I would be taking the phone, so she erased all the received texts. However, she forgot to erase the sent messages. :sad2:

They are all so young in that movie! It's hard to believe how much all of them have changed over the years.

Yes, I would like to fast forward to June.

Oy to Chelsea not erasing all of the message. :rotfl2: You should be thankful she isn't good at being sneaky. ;)

It was a good book but the ending really made me mad. I think you should read it still though, unlike the Lace Reader it's worth it. You never did read that did you? It comforts me that I spared someone from that pain. :rotfl2:

Let's hope she doesn't get any better at being sneaky.

Okay, I will still read Shanghai Girls -- I really want to.

No, after you told me how horrible it was, I stopped reading it and took it right back to the library. Not only did you spare me the pain of that book, you also spared my book club. It was one of the suggestions my SIL brought to our last meeting, and I quickly explained that we did not want to read it, no way no how!
