Gnomies Gone Wild

That is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Wonderful!!! You have had an army praying for you so I know things would all start falling into place for you all soon!!! SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!!

Thanks for the input about self-parking.....I think the only thing that we will have to get over is actually having to PAY to park---YUCK!!! What is it? Like $15 a pop or something?!?!?!?! YIKES!

Yay LL for a new teacher!! I'm with P, I thought maybe you knew something I didn't

Yay JJ for a renter :cool1:

Yay MM for an upcoming trip  How many days will you be staying? Doesn't an AP give you free parking? Would it make sense to invest in an AP to cover the cost of parking too (then perhaps an excuse for another trip in the next year :rolleyes1) I would agree that having a car has benefits. Although some people would claim the buses are just as fast, I would say even with the parking lot commute, they are pretty equivalent. If you get to a park first thing in the morning, you can usually score a spot close enough to not even bother with the tram

hey gnomies

Got a call today for an interview next week. It's the job at the high school here. Not my dream job but something I can do well and puts me in the school so people know first hand what I am like. Maybe would give me a slight advantage next year when another biology teacher plans to retire.

still haven't heard from the settlement school which makes me nervous . I thought they were going to call this week for interviews.

UGH I HATE job hunting!! I just want it over!!!

Fingers crossed for you, Katie!!!

I'm exhausted, Gnomies. I don't ever remember being this tired. I wish I drank coffee, that would come in handy at a time like this!

Saying a prayer for you Katie and sending lots of good thoughts your way!!

Leslie...hope the class goes by fast so you can get home and into bed!!! Have a good class!!

Good luck, Katie!!!

LL, it's draining doing the whole work-all-day-and-then-heading-to-school thing. I remember being exhausted when I was doing my Masters degree and went straight from school to school.

This week has just wiped me out. I've had a lot going on financially, mentally, then work and school...everything has been on overdrive this week. I'm also really not looking forward to Saturday class this week. Boo Hiss Snarl.

Yay MM! We've actually seen before where they run buses, in addition to the monorail and boat. So bus first if you can get it, but just kind of watch the lines for both, especially if a boat is already pulled up, then make your decision!
Double yay Katie! Fingers crosses for you! I know it's frustrating!!
Triple Yay Jen! Woo hoo! Only one more big thing on your list then right?! That thankfully went quick for you!

hi gnomies! I'm just sitting here with a grape popsicle waiting for police women of memphis to start...hope everyone is having a nice evening! It is raining like crazy out right now! relaxing on my day off!

I went and got my hair coloured this morning! I now have a dark chocolate colour! No one will recognize me at work tomorrow! Maybe they'll send me home early out of shock! ;)

IMHO, I love taking the ferry to MK! :)

My new camera came today!!:banana::banana:

I took it out to play;)

this was my fave shot...

We are leaving for DC in the am... see you gnomies monday!

Okay Gnomies.....remember that old adage, "Oh the difference a day makes!!!" Well, I KNOW how true that line is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday morning, I received a phone call bright and early from my former Assistant Superintendent at where I used to teach. Surprised?!?!! YES I WAS!!!! Remember, that is the same school where I interviewed this Spring and didn't get the job. Rumor has it that he has actually left that district recently to take another Assistant Superintendent position at another local highly performing school district---another one of the best in the state and the nation. ANYHOO, he called because he had a "friend" (aka Principal of that district's high school) that just had an English position open up due to a sudden vacancy. He wanted me to give that Principal a call because he "KNEW I WOULD BE SO RIGHT FOR THIS POSITION!!!" The phone number he gave me was the guy's CELL PHONE number, and he immediately answered when I call. (On a sidenote, do I think the two of them were probably sitting in the same office during this whole phone thing---YES---do I care---HECK NO!) ;) So of course this Principal knows all about me, and begins to go through a 45-minute phone interview!!!!! RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!!!!!! The interview was going VERY well---the position is for a teacher to teach the Sophomore and Junior levels of Pre-Ap English---so right down my alley!!!! He then starts telling me how quickly the hiring process is going to go because of the closeness to the opening of school for the year, and tells me they want me to come in Monday morning at 8:15 for sit-down interview to go through the "correct hiring protocol!" In other words, I think this guy was pretty much ready to hire me over the phone, but needs me to jump through the correct hiring hoops to get the position. Yesterday, I also had to email him my resume and complete their online application. I have to go up to my college this morning and pick up another copy of my transcript to take with me to the interview, and I called the Praxis board to have my scores from 1998 sent to the district. It was like a COMPLETE whirlwind!!!!! We also talked to the people at the State's Certification office one more time, and they have found the correct---and much less complicated---path for me to reissue my certificate. So that no longer is going to be an issue. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW SO MUCH OF THIS IS FALLING INTO PLACE!!!!! This district is one of the top two in our state, and one of the top 300 (I think) in the nation. IT IS A DREAM JOB!!!!! Keep praying that everything goes well again on Monday for me. The only downfall of getting this job would be that we might have to change our plans for vacay in August....I think they have their opening day for teachers at the end of that week. BUT, I am not going to worry about that right now....just want to focus on getting the job first! AAAAAAAACCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!! My mind is racing a million miles an hour right now....but that is a good thing! Thanks for all your support so far girls, you don't know how much it means to me! :)
