Okay Gnomies.....remember that old adage, "Oh the difference a day makes!!!" Well, I KNOW how true that line is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yesterday morning, I received a phone call bright and early from my former Assistant Superintendent at where I used to teach. Surprised?!?!! YES I WAS!!!! Remember, that is the same school where I interviewed this Spring and didn't get the job. Rumor has it that he has actually left that district recently to take another Assistant Superintendent position at another local highly performing school district---another one of the best in the state and the nation. ANYHOO, he called because he had a "friend" (aka Principal of that district's high school) that just had an English position open up due to a sudden vacancy. He wanted me to give that Principal a call because he "KNEW I WOULD BE SO RIGHT FOR THIS POSITION!!!" The phone number he gave me was the guy's CELL PHONE number, and he immediately answered when I call. (On a sidenote, do I think the two of them were probably sitting in the same office during this whole phone thing---YES---do I care---HECK NO!)

So of course this Principal knows all about me, and begins to go through a 45-minute phone interview!!!!! RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!!!!!! The interview was going VERY well---the position is for a teacher to teach the Sophomore and Junior levels of Pre-Ap English---so right down my alley!!!! He then starts telling me how quickly the hiring process is going to go because of the closeness to the opening of school for the year, and tells me they want me to come in Monday morning at 8:15 for sit-down interview to go through the "correct hiring protocol!" In other words, I think this guy was pretty much ready to hire me over the phone, but needs me to jump through the correct hiring hoops to get the position. Yesterday, I also had to email him my resume and complete their online application. I have to go up to my college this morning and pick up another copy of my transcript to take with me to the interview, and I called the Praxis board to have my scores from 1998 sent to the district. It was like a COMPLETE whirlwind!!!!! We also talked to the people at the State's Certification office one more time, and they have found the correct---and much less complicated---path for me to reissue my certificate. So that no longer is going to be an issue. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW SO MUCH OF THIS IS FALLING INTO PLACE!!!!! This district is one of the top two in our state, and one of the top 300 (I think) in the nation. IT IS A DREAM JOB!!!!! Keep praying that everything goes well again on Monday for me. The only downfall of getting this job would be that we might have to change our plans for vacay in August....I think they have their opening day for teachers at the end of that week. BUT, I am not going to worry about that right now....just want to focus on getting the job first! AAAAAAAACCCCCCCKKKKKKKK!!!!! My mind is racing a million miles an hour right now....but that is a good thing! Thanks for all your support so far girls, you don't know how much it means to me!
