Gnomies Gone Wild

Oh Jess, sorry about the woes! I know I'm an outsider so I don't have all the insight into the specific details but it seems like if NOAA is what you both want and Blake is basically a shoe-in for the job, it would be silly to give up that opportunity even if it means leaving VA. Just my 2 cents!

Well, interesting event on my job hunt. I got an e-mail from one of the associate principals at the high school. they are in need of a plato supervisor (essentially, a computerized credit recovery program where students can come to a computer lab during their study hall time and work. They go through coursework and take tests to hopefullly earn a grade for a class they previously failed) They need someone to supervise the lab and track kids progress. It's not a teaching position so the pay isn't as good but it is decent compared to subbing, better than a paraeducator, and nearly full-time with some benefits. It would be a good alternative if this settlement school job doesn't work out. The principal who contacted me knows me pretty well and is the one who will be in charge of hiring and they will be interviewing next week.

I saw Despicable Me yesterday. A college friend was in town and we had planned to go to lunch and take the kids to the pool but it rained so we decided to go to the movies instead. It was really much better than I anticipated! If you go and have the option of 3D...skip it. The 3D effects were pretty weak and not worth the extra $3 a ticket we paid!

What a dilemma Jess!!! I hope you and Blake will have some time to chat about it and figure out what will be the best solution for the both of you! I hope you get your answer soon!

It is a DREARY Tuesday here in Cincy ladies.....rain and thunderstorms predicted all day long!!!! I am supposed to go to the grocery store today, but not if I have to dodge thunder and lightning!!! YIKES!

Jackie...have you started packing yet?!!??!?!?!?! Oh how I wish I could do that Bewitched thing and snap my fingers or wiggle my nose and transport myself to the ATL to help you pack......and enjoy some yummy cocktails at the same time too! ;)

Morning Gnomies.

We have to start thinking about starting a new thread soon, we are almost at 250 pages.

Jess, sounds like moving again might be a good idea if Blake has a good job prospect.

Katie, that sounds like it could be a good position! :thumbsup2

WOOT WOOT Someone sounds excited!!!! I hope that this teacher is much better than your other one!!!

Jess...I'll be praying about your situation! I have no doubt that you and Blake will be able to figure out the right decision to make for you guys!!

Katie...I'm excited for you!! I hope one of those prospects will work out for you!!!!!

good for you LL!!

I was even more excited for a sec there.... I thought I missed an announcement by Katie or MM:rolleyes:

But I'm happy for you:banana:

Guess what I did today.....

give up???

I bought a new camera and a new lens:rolleyes1

Tom's gonna kill me!:littleangel:

P

Whoops, sorry Paula. Didn't mean to get you excited. :lmao:

This new teacher so far is KICK A$$. I love her, she started class on time, called out the late people. It's great. I am one happy camper tonight.

:banana::cool1::woohoo::yay::dance3:

We've already finished chapter 1!! I feel like I'm finally getting something out of this!!

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Katie - fingers crossed on your job prospects!

Jess- yikes that is quite a dilemma. I'm sure you and Blake will figure it out. And as long as you're together you'll be fine. :goodvibes

Jen (MM)- sorry things are dreary and a tad boring over there. Hope things liven up (in a good way) soon!

CP- so wish I were packing!

LL- congrats on the new teacher

P- what kind of camera did you get? You do take gorgeous pictures!

Jen (JJ)- fingers crossed for you too on finding a renter and a job for Phillip!

P- what kind of camera did you get? You do take gorgeous pictures!

I got a Sony Alpha-550 DSLR. Its a big upgrade from my current alpha-100!

Originally I was just going to get the camerabody.... but my 80-210mm telephoto lens really has been needing replaced. The new lens wouldhave been $200... but I found a different one that is 18-200mm:banana::banana:

In a nutshell... that means no more switching lenses! I have a 18-70mm and the 80-210.... so I had to switch them back and forth...alot. I think the convienice will be worth the price tag

At least the lens was cheaper than the camera itself..... but now you know why Tom's gonna kill me. $1500 for a new camera is NOT a necessity in his opinion:rolleyes1

WOOT!! YAY for a new camera!!! I can't wait to see the pictures you take with it P!! You have an amazing eye and take some GREAT pictures!!

Glad to hear about the class Leslie! That is fantastic!

P-New camera!?! Girl, you take amazing pictures as it is!! We'll be watching out for all the Paula awards in the magazines this year ;)
Katie-Fingers crossed!!! Let us know if it holds up to be a good one, sounds great so far!!
LL-Woot for the new teacher! I love when the late kids finally get what's coming to them!!

Thanks girls for all your thoughts. Blake has to give his boss a decision this week, he's already stressed about it, thinking of having to commute to Northern VA again and sit in traffic. He emailed a lot of places today, some aquaculture centers, virginia instiute of marine science (VIMS), so we shall see!

OK, I stayed up waaaayyyyyy too late playing with this..... but can't you just HEAR the MUSIC!????!!!!!

Those pages are BEAUTIFUL Paula!!! I really want to get into digital scrapbooking but it's about the money and the time. :rotfl:

Jess - Everything will work out just fine, the right decision will come to you and Blake.

Good Morning Gnomies!!

How is everyone today?

Good Morning Gang!!!

LL--YAY on the new teacher!!! As so many of us know, it is often the teacher that makes the biggest difference in the class itself, so I just KNOW this is going to be a great class for you!!!! WAHOO!!!

Jess--I am saying some prayers that you and Blake will get the answers you need to make the best decision for you both!

Paula--I can't imagine how great those pictures are going to be!!!! I am sure your purchase will be forgiven in NO time! ;) LOVE those pages again!!!! I am going to have to check out that site sometime.....can you print those pages into books ultimately? I might need the link again....your work is SO good!

JJ--sending lots of prayers your way for a renter and a job for PP! I know what is meant to be will be!!!

Katie---I just feel like you are going to find something REALLY soon. You know my thoughts and prayers are going out your way too!!!

CP---do you know where you will be this time in a few more days!?!?!?!?!? EEEK!!! I am so excited for you! I was at Bath and Body Works yesterday, and saw a scent I wanted to send you SO badly for this trip but figured I couldn't get it to you in time before you left---it was called Carribean ESCAPE!!!! How perfect a "trip scent" for this trippie!!!!

Stace and C---sending you LOTS of Gnomie hugs and wishes for good fortune for right now!!!

Well girlies, in the midst of all our thunderstorms yesterday, two somewhat positive things happened:
1. I received a phone call from my Mentor Teacher at my old high school---you know, the one I interviewed at and didn't get the job because they picked a cheaper candidate?!?!---WELL, one of the middle school teachers sent her an email because she is considering taking a job elsewhere. What does that mean for me? Well, she said if that happens, more than likely they will move that new chick over to her vacancy because she has only done work in the middle grades....which would reopen the position I originally applied for!!! YEAH! :) I could also fill the vacancy for the middle grades since I am certified 7-12, but I think the first scenario is much more likely!!! She also said she just found out that one of her high school teachers just found she is pregnant and due around February---she will need a long term sub, and asked if I would be interested in doing that as well!!! SO, let's just hope that one of these situations works out!!!

2. My sister called me yesterday and asked if we were going anywhere in August on Tom's vacay. When I explained that I still didn't know because Tom wasn't sure about taking another vacation or not, she then offered to book us a trip through her time-share program. We could book a weekly rental at a variety of places for anywhere from $99-$199 for the ENTIRE WEEK!!!!!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!! And yes, they have SEVERAL locations close to WDW in a good location in Kissimmee!!!!!!!! So my wheels have been churning all over again!!! :) Wish me some more pixie dust that one of those opportunities works out! It will be a culture shock to NOT stay on property, but I am hoping some of you can help me out....as far as giving me tips about the parking situation at all the parks, etc. What do you all think?!?!?!?!?!

Nothing major on the agenda today......what about you all?!?!?!?!

WOO HOO Jen!! You had a very good day yesterday. Fingers crossed on one of those teaching options. :thumbsup2

We stayed in a timeshare in Kissimmee when I was younger and it was really great. They even had an indoor mini golf place in the lobby. I also though I was super cool since I had my haircut in the salon on the property too. :rotfl2:

Okay LL.....how bad is the whole parking situation???? I know it isn't THAT bad at EP, DHS, or AK, but what about MK---do we take the ferry, monorail, or is there some better option?!?!?!?

Let me tell you...I LOVE having a car at Disney. Jen has totally spoiled me. So much quicker than bus transportation. We never had problems with parking. At MK, you park at the Ticket & Transportation Center then you can take the monorail or boat to MK. It's really not hard at all. Either way is fairly quick, especially in the morning. They run very frequently.

Do you think it is easier/faster to take the monorail or the ferry?

WOOT! Hoping something will work out in the job department for you Jen!! That is great news!!!!

I love having a car at Disney. I can get there early and park close by and never have to worry about waiting for a bus!!! It is fantastic...only 15 minutes to park hop...GREAT!!

Gnomies, we heard some great news today!! We have a renter for our house WOOT!!! One less thing to worry about. Praise the Lord!
