Oh Jess, sorry about the woes! I know I'm an outsider so I don't have all the insight into the specific details but it seems like if NOAA is what you both want and Blake is basically a shoe-in for the job, it would be silly to give up that opportunity even if it means leaving VA. Just my 2 cents!
Well, interesting event on my job hunt. I got an e-mail from one of the associate principals at the high school. they are in need of a plato supervisor (essentially, a computerized credit recovery program where students can come to a computer lab during their study hall time and work. They go through coursework and take tests to hopefullly earn a grade for a class they previously failed) They need someone to supervise the lab and track kids progress. It's not a teaching position so the pay isn't as good but it is decent compared to subbing, better than a paraeducator, and nearly full-time with some benefits. It would be a good alternative if this settlement school job doesn't work out. The principal who contacted me knows me pretty well and is the one who will be in charge of hiring and they will be interviewing next week.
I saw Despicable Me yesterday. A college friend was in town and we had planned to go to lunch and take the kids to the pool but it rained so we decided to go to the movies instead. It was really much better than I anticipated! If you go and have the option of 3D...skip it. The 3D effects were pretty weak and not worth the extra $3 a ticket we paid!

I could also fill the vacancy for the middle grades since I am certified 7-12, but I think the first scenario is much more likely!!! She also said she just found out that one of her high school teachers just found she is pregnant and due around February---she will need a long term sub, and asked if I would be interested in doing that as well!!! SO, let's just hope that one of these situations works out!!!
