Gnomies Gone Wild

LL - glad to hear your surgery went well! I agree, stupid money! But yay to quicker schooling!

Good evening Gnomies....if anyone is still awake....if not GOOD MORNING!!!! ;)

LL, so glad you are feeling pretty human!!! Glad it all went well!

Stace, so excited about the PTR...will head over there next!

I think the wish for pixie dust may have actually worked a little.....you won't believe what TOM actually brought up HIMSELF while we were talking on the phone during his drive home......going for a WDW trip around Thanksgiving again!!!! You guessed it right.....my jaw dropped, I stopped breathing, blinking, and I had to clutch the kitchen table to keep from falling over. Now, I don't want us all to get too excited, but it was nice to have a little Disney flourish.....let's hope we can turn it into something more magical, eh?!?!?! He thought it would be a great idea, especially since we should have my added income from teaching to compensate for it. I just really don't know what to say.......but you know I am on here doing a little browsing.....like for DVC rates in November, historical discounts in November, etc., etc., etc........BUT I'M JUST LOOKING!!!! ;)

How did the whining work on Charles CP???? Any luck????

You are going to have to give us details about that conversation....I bet it was a good one!!!!

I spent a little time last night perusing sites, looking at details of what I might find if we do try to plan a November trip. I was actually surprised to learn they ran Free Dining all the way through the middle of December last year. Now that would DEFINITELY tempt good ole' Tom!!!! Do you think I could get so lucky for that to happen again this year?!?!?!?!

I also looked into the points situation for DVC rentals......it might be a little trickier to plan just because I am going to need to deal with the holiday point hike....but still manageable. Especially if I can nab some points going for $9 a point like I have been seeing quite a bit of on that thread.

Yeah.........I was pretty "busy" last night!!!! ;) I am trying to figure what would be better to do---just try to go the week of Thanksgiving, or get down there in the middle of Turkey week, and stay through Tuesday of the next week. What do you girls think???? The schools around here always give the Wed-Friday Thanksgiving break, and Tom gets those days off at work too. He would only have to take two days of vacation to do this, and I know I could work out with Megan's school to take her out for an extra two days without any problem. They don't mind those little absences---especially when she has nearly perfect attendance for the rest of the time---it would be more difficult now that she will be in first grade to try to pull her for an entire week. I will have several personal days once I get hired, so I will be able to escape for a little trip too!

So as you can see, my delusional self has taken over BIG time!!!

Ooooh, a Thanksgiving trip! I went the week of Thanksgiving the year I was in 8th grade and thought it was great crowd wise. I was talking to my mom about it a few weeks ago and she informed that they shut down the parks two days because of the crowds. I don't remember that at all! :rotfl2: I still think it was a great trip. The blissful ignorance of childhood.

I feeling okay this morning. I think I might go for a car ride to the bank with Marc. But we'll see. I feel good but I don't want to push it too far, you know?

We went over Thanksgiving in 2007---we checked in on that day, and stayed all the way through the next week until Saturday or Sunday. It was a good trip overall, but we did avoid the parks on the Friday after Thanksgiving completely! The week afterwards was not too bad. I have been doing some crunching, and we could either go the whole week of Thanksgiving, or get there a day before and stay through to the following Tuesday. Either way, we will DEFINITELY be staying out of the parks on Thanksgiving day---I'm thinking turkey dinner at Chef Mickey's, resort time, and DTD shopping. BUT OF COURSE, I am just in the VERY beginning of the dreaming process.....we shall see how this all turns out!!!! I know the crowds might be a little uncomfortable, but with my FP master by my side, I am hoping we could conquer anything!!!! I am also starting to think that we would do better using our TS credits for big lunches---avoid the biggest crowds and heat of the day---and save the CS meals for quick, lite dinners. And yes, I have already made a list of the restaurants I want ressies for!!! ;) :) :rotfl:I'm SICK! When Tom and I were talking about this on the phone last night, we did make another decision too....we are going to skip AK. We like it, but we would rather use that day for another day at MK....because we just can't get enough of it!!!! :goodvibes

LL...definitely DON'T OVERDO it today!!! :)

:headache: Take the backing OFF the transfer before ironing :sad2:

LOL!! I think thats the 1 bit of advice that LL and I both gave you.... cause we both (wellI know I did at least lol!) did it too ;)

Did it all work out??

LL... glad the surgery went good and u are recovering!

Jen-MM....I hope that your dreaming becomes reality! We like to go over veteran's day. My kids always have vets day off...and the school always schedules an 'act 80' teachers ed day that week.... so we get to go a whole 9 days but can avoid the holiday crowds, plus the kids only miss 3 days of school. I've never had any problem with taking the girls out of school... but then again, they are both straight A students. I don't take Kyle out... he's in high school (next year he will be at the vo-tech)...but since he hates WDW, he'd rather stay home, so no problem.

I'm feeling a little anxious about our London/Paris ABD trip for next year. The original plan was that we would going the summer.... but I don't know about getting enough time off work. So now we are leaning toward September. I'll be pulling Ellie out for almost 2 weeks:scared1: if we go then. Since it will only be 2 weeks into the school year(ie all review stuff), and there's no question that this trip will be VERY educational.... I don't think that the school will have an issue with her going. My worry is getting her caught up when we get back! She like's the idea because we will be in Paris on her actual birthday. I like it because it's cheaper (airfare in June is approx $1200pp... Sept is around $800!). Unfortunately, this year they only offered the Gateway trips (again cheaper) in the summer. I'm hoping they expand that program, but if they don't, the full day in Versailles, Lion King Theatre tix, and 5* deluxe hotels are enough for me to suck-it-up and pay the extra $1200 and points for the regular Knights and Lights trip.

I did get our dining booked for this years WDW trip done, and the flights are booked. All that's left is buying Tom a 6d PH tix and me a 4d PH tix (my AP expires the 2nd day we are there) I don't want to renew my AP since we won't be going at all in 2011 due to the ABD trip (but I will get my fix at Disneyland Paris...so its all good!) OH and I have to figure out what to do with Kyle..... cause contrary to HIS opinion... he isn't staying home alone:eek:

OK...that's more than I've shared in months... sorry about the rambling!

Paula

:headache: Take the backing OFF the transfer before ironing :sad2:

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: I only get to laugh at you because I have done this not only ONCE but TWICE. Welcome to my craft challenged world.

Jen (MM) -- I didn't overdo it today but I'm still really sore. I don't remember being this sore back in August but maybe I just forgot. I'm worried about when I'll be able to go to work.

I canceled my trip to Riverdance tomorrow. Mom is going with my Aunt instead. They are going to stop by on the way to the show since I still have the tickets. I feel bad bailing on my Mom but my new incision is right where my bra is and I am so not ready for that yet. :rotfl2:

Paula -- I'm insanely jealous of you ABD trip. It sounds like an amazing time, no matter when you go! I hope I can go on that trip someday.

Hey gnomies! Just got home from seeing Date Night, it's cute!

LL - don't push yourself young lady

Katie - silly transfers...you know the saying: "If at first you don't succeed..." :)

Jen - That's awesome that Tom wants to go to WDW! You should plan your little heart out! :)

Paula - I am so jealous of your ABD trip! I think I might want to do that next year to celebrate the big 3-0....

Anyone else want to do an ABD in 2011? ;)

Jen (MM), I would have been planning out meals already, too. ;)

LL, that's too bad that you aren't able to go to Riverdance, but I don't blame you about wanting to stay home. Hope you continue to feel better. How many days off are you taking before heading back to work?

Paula, an ABD trip sounds like so much fun!!! I hope everything works out for it!

Stace, I watched the trailer for Date Night -- it looks really funny especially the part where they end up at Mark Wahlberg's place. :lmao:

Katie, oh, no about the t-shirts! That is so something I would do!

Christine, any plans for the weekend?

D'oh! Will you be posting pictures of the results? :hyper:

Go check out my PTR, just posted them!

That is EXACTLY why I had to come over here to mention it...I knew you would appreciate the irony. The funny thing is, I was so nervous about the first one I had no problems. Apparently I got cocky with the second one because that's the one I screwed up on :lmao:

OK...that's more than I've shared in months... sorry about the rambling!

Don't be sorry, we've missed you around here!! Your ABD trip sounds wonderful, good luck with the planning!

Bummer LL, I was looking forward to the video of you dancing ;)

Stace...seriously, the big 3-0?! :sad2: (I say as someone approaching the decade ahead of you!)

CP, I want to see date night too

MM, any word on the trip? sounds like an exciting prospect!

CP --- The doctor doesn't want me to return to work until the 19th but financially I need to go back before then but I also don't want to push it. I don't know. I'm just trying to take it easy.

Katie --- I did it on the second shirts too! Jen's shirts of course. :rotfl2: Welcome to the Club! I'm sad about no dancing at Riverdance too. Oh well.

Hi Gnomies! Any exciting plans for the weekend?

Whatever you do, don't push it -- you don't want to return to work too soon and end up miserable.

No exciting plans whatsoever. I am getting that panicky feeling about spring break being over and having to return to work. All I have done is lay on the couch and read all week.

I've read three books since Thursday. :rotfl2:

I won't push it because I don't want to be miserable, that is no fun....especially at my job. :rolleyes1

I need to go attempt to make my hair decent. Marc offered to blow dry it for me since I can't raise my arms but I think that would be a BIG mistake. :lmao:
