Gmax Bday Trip: Expect the Unexpected! "Closing Time" Pg 15

Sounds like your trip is off to a great start. Happy belated Birthday!

I always love your reports because you give us a glimpse of home when we can't be there. We don't get to stay at Kidani until December so it was nice to get a sneak peek.

That poor fishie during Spectro. Although I've been hearing a lot about float towing lately. Sounds like maybe they need to overhaul the floats a bit. Your videos of Spectro had me tearing up over my lunch. I'm such a sap for that stuff.

OMG the lines for TSMM were insane. I thought our FP lines were bad in December, but that surely had us beat! This is shaping up to be a great birthday trip! :thumbsup2

YEA!!!!! :yay:

Another GMax TR!!! :woohoo:

And like usual you are already half way through ;)

Will be back to read later...just wanted to check in!!

Marking my spot. Looks like the work firewall is blocking the pix. I must have pix to go along with the story. :snooty: So I'll be back later when I can get everything ! :) I did read the very beginning, though, and so far so good! :thumbsup2 I always love your reports.:woohoo:

yey another trip report , I can't wait for the rest of it.

Sounds like you the bestest Birthday paaaarrrrty that started early and
went on and on and on.

Happy Happy Birthday to you Glendamax !

Gmax....do you ever sleep girl?! I went to sleep last night with your first update and came back to 2 more! :banana: You are a much 'better trip report updater' than I am!! ;)

Looks like a fantastic trip so far! I don't blame you about being a teensy disappointed in the lobby when you first checked in. The resort looks beautiful, but the original AKL lobby is so gorgeous I would find myself comparing it too!

Yesterday my husband came home and told me we could make a work day in Orlando into a little weekend trip for us- he told me we could go to Disney or Universal, my choice. Your Spectro parade pictures are making me lean toward Disney. ;) It will be on the 4th of July (:scared1:) and I'm a little terrified of the crowds, but I want to go to Disney darnit!!!

(Sorry I went on this little tangant on your TR. What am I thinking?:confused3)

Great to see you back Glenda! Your report is terrific as always. :thumbsup2

And did I read correctly that you're going back in July too! Good for you! We'll be there in Sept. again. 4th year in a row doing Sept.

Your hair looks terrific by the way! I never noticed exactly what the bird were saying in Splash. I'll have to check that out.

We love Jungle Cruise at night. Makes it much easier to believe you're not in Florida!

Can't wait for you next update. Keep up the good work.

I wanna join in the fun too! You look like you are having the best time. I want to travel with you some time! Looking forward to reading more of your Disney adventure.

Glenda, I think the Sunpass police are going to be coming for you. :rotfl: (nothing I haven't done myself mind you). ;)

Hey DISers! Welcome to yet another Gmax Trip Report! Every trip I say that I'm NOT gonna write one, but DIS Peer Pressure wins over! So here we go!

Yay!! :banana:

DISer Antss was supposed to be there for the weekend, but ended up extending her trip, and told another DISer (AngWill) about me spending my bday alone. So Antss agreed to have dinner with me one night, and AngWill invited me to have dinner with her and her son on my bday! She even made the dinner reservation for me. Weeks later, she told me that she had lunch reservations at LeCellier on the day I arrived, and invited me to join her! SCORE! This solo bday trip was looking good!

Awesome!! :thumbsup2

After crunching some numbers, Candice booked a trip too!

:cheer2:

DISer Klofan booked a trip in May for his bday. But when he found out that all of us were going to be there in June, he cancelled his trip, and booked for June insted!

So now, my solo bday trip, was turning into a little party! But WAIT! There's more. . . A DISer from Tampa and I have a common friend on facebook. Since she had the weekend off, she decided to drive to Orlando for the weekend! So there you have it! A trip I was a bit nervous about, turned into one of the most anticipated Disney trips ever! But WAIT! There's More . . .

With less than a week to go, my friend Kim found out that she had Friday - Monday off. She asked for my flight info and said that she was trying to go. Well, with it being so close, I knew that her chances were slim. Besides, she has 3 kids that she would have to arrange baby sitting for. On Sunday, 5 days before my trip, she calls and asks, "So what's the plan"? I ask, "The plan for what"? She says, "Your Trip"! So I start to tell her what I plan on doing, when she says, "I'm going, I have a plane ticket. Now can I stay with you, or do I need my own room". I couldn't believe she pulled it off! She was able to get a flight that arrived 10mins after mine! After hanging up the phone, I revamped my plans. She only had the weekend, so I wanted to make sure that she got to go to all off the parks. Plus, with all the new editions, and dinner reservations, I needed to see if Kim could be added. Well, everything worked like a charm. So by Monday, all my plans had changed, and I couldn't wait for FRIDAY!!!

How fabulous indeed!!!! It is really great how things worked out!!

When I went to Alamo to pick up my car, I was greeted by a less than enthusiastic woman. When she asked how many people and pieces of lugguage we had, she wanted to know if I'd upgrade to a Full-sized car. When I told her "no", she got a funny look on her face and said that we wouldnt be able to fit in the car. I told her that we could, because we've done it before. She slightly rolled her eyes! Then she got an attitude when I didn't want to pre-pay for the gas! What a way to start the trip!

How rude! (In my best Stephanie Tanner voice) The nerve of some people.

We looked around the room while waiting for our lugguage. We only had about 40mins before our LeCellier Lunch! What a way to start this vacation!

What a way indeed! We love that place!!! :goodvibes But only 40 mins? uh oh popcorn::

After we'd finally received our bags, we were off to EPCOT to have lunch at LeCellier! Since the park bus stops were very close to the front of the resort, we decided to catch the bus. About 10 mins had gone by, and NO bus. So we decided to drive. Even as we were on our way out, we still didn't see an EPCOT bus. Good thing we had a car!

Wow! That is terrible. Thank goodness you did have a car. It would have been a tragedy to miss such a yummy lunch!

Fortunantly, we were only about 10mins late.

Whew! :thumbsup2

I started out with some Pretzle bread!

Love that stuff!! :love:

I'd gotten us great spots on Main Street to watch Spectro Magic! Kim and I got there before Antss, so I placed my bag beside me in the open spot to save her place. Well . . . A mother and her kids walked up. One of the kids sat beside my bag. Do you know the Mother told her child to MOVE my bag and slide over!

Oh no she di’nt! :headache: Good for you for being nice about it!

Little did we know, Kim had NEVER seen Spectro! We couldn't believe it! So this was going to be a first for her!

Oh how cool!! I remember my first time seeing that parade, and I will never forget it. Oh the music… the lights… *sigh*

This would be the 3rd time I ever been on this. So I really tried to pay attention to the story, and all the animals. While listening to the song, I swore it said, "How do you do . . . Please just show me your Ba**s". Hmm . . . Surely I was wrong, but then I heard it again! I leaned forward and asked them to listen. When they did, they SCREAMED! They had to admit that is what it sounded like! So of course, I had that playing in my head for the rest of the ride!

:rotfl:LOL!!! This is the best laugh I have had in a really long time. That is so what it sounds like. That is so funny. “Please just show me your Ba**s” is actually “Pretty good, sure as you’re born”. LOL I had no idea what it was either, and it drove me nuts. So after a few trips, I finally Google’d it. :lmao:

We also rode Thunder Mountain Railroad! As I've said before, this ride is FANTASTIC at night!

Love it!!

When we finally got to AKL, I was so thankful that the bus stops close to the building, and unlike Jambo, there was no long incline to walk up!

I’m with you on that! My boys and I stayed at AKL for the first time last year, and that incline was just mean after a long day in the parks. :faint:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Great TR so far, Glenda!! Looking forward to what happens next!
I am loving your TR!!!!:goodvibes Glad you liked your resort after a little apprehension. The studio looked very nice. There have been quite a few "firsts" for Kim already! That's a great start! Always love Spectro Magic! I cannot believe the fastpass line for TSM! :eek: That's messed up!
Can't wait for the next update! popcorn::
I have been "thinking" about a birthday trip in November. Just can't make up my mind! :sad2: Antss keeps telling me to just do it! :rotfl:
Hi Glenda, I lurked on your other TR's after they were nearly finished and I am SO excited to have found this one at the beginning! I'm here for the ride :cool1:
HEY EVERYBODY! This feels like a surprise party! So glad all of you showed up!
I REALLY hope that I'm able to respond to everyone AND do another installment today! You know I like to speed write my reports!
Thanks again! And now a little song:
"How do you do? Please just show me your . . . ALLS!" :rotfl2:
Every trip I say that I'm NOT gonna write one, but DIS Peer Pressure wins over!
I hear ya Gmax! :rotfl:
I must admit, that even though I was warned that this resort was a bit smaller, and different, I was a bit disappointed when we pulled up.
Darn. I felt the same way when pics first started appearing online, but hoped it was different in person. :sad2:
Bracing myself, I openned the curtains to see my view. After all, I did request to be near the lobby:
HA! I was directly over the front entrance!
Hmmm. Well. It's not a dumspter view! :rotfl:
Again, I wish that there was parking at the World Showcase!
But there is! At BC. Where DVC members get free valet. ;)
We arrived at MGM (yes I still call it that) at 8:45am. This is the only Rope Drop Cermony that I hadn't seen.
There's a ceremony?! :yay:
Well folks, I didn't see one. After awhile, they just let us in.
Oh. :sad2:
I'm so glad you're writing another TR Glenda! And so sad I missed seeing you at WDW... again. :guilty:
I'm here for the party - or since the actual party was in WDW does that make this the not-so-secret awesome after-party?! :cool1:
Can't wait to read more of the adventures - loved the spectro videos!
Hi Glenda!
So glad you started this TR. Still using your Cannon Powershot - cause your pix are neat!
HEY EVERYBODY! This feels like a surprise party! So glad all of you showed up!
I REALLY hope that I'm able to respond to everyone AND do another installment today! You know I like to speed write my reports!
Thanks again! And now a little song:
"How do you do? Please just show me your . . . ALLS!" :rotfl2:
I will never sing it the same way again. :rotfl:
