Gmax Bday Trip: Expect the Unexpected! "Closing Time" Pg 15

i am not a fan of AI but was also suprised at how much fun we had..wish we had made it there again..we definitely have to do that again. that pic of you and rebecca on movie ride is still one of my favorites! and what the heck was antss and i doing when we first met up with you....can't figure that pic out??? :confused3

LOL:lmao:def'ly not doing the jig!!!

Day 2 - Part 2

On Saturday evening, after a break in the room, Kim and I headed over to EPCOT. Tonights goal was to see Illuminations.

On the way into the park, we noticed that Test Track's Single Rider Line wasn't long, so we decided to take a spin!

IMG_4760.jpg

A Hidden Mickey!

Of course the ride was fun, and the German Blocks proved once again that all women should wear Sports Bras on this ride!

We then headed over to England to meet Rebecca and have fish and chips. After we finished eating, we all lamented the fact that Future World closed at 7pm. We couldn't figure it out! Why would they close so early in June on a Saturday night. So insted of hanging around for Illuminations, we decided to go to Magic Kingdom, since they closed at 10pm. Shortly after, Candice called to say that she'd just arrived and was near Spaceship Earth. So we met her, jumped in our cars and drove over to MK!

As always, I took pics of where the car was parked so I wouldnt be crying at the end of the day.

IMG_4762.jpg
IMG_4761.jpg

Oh! Another thing I try to do, is rent a car the same color as the one I own, so it'll be easy to look for.

That night at MK, I didnt take too many pics, I just enjoyed my time with the Ladies! We were able to get on alot of rides with little wait, including Small World.

IMG_4770.jpg

When on Haunted Mansion, Candice pointed out a Hidden Mickey, she'd found out about on the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. In fact, Rebecca had taken the tour also, and really liked it. So hopefully one day, I'll do it too.

We got a chance to ride Buzz Lightyear - which is really hard after doing Toy Story Mania. It's just not as fun. But at least you get to take a funny pic afterwards!

IMG_4773.jpg

We had a fun day! It was nice going off the script, and changing our plans. It was a nice unexpected change - and none of us regretted not seeing Illuminations at EPCOT.

That evening, as we were going to our cars, Rebecca was trying to decide whether or not she would spend another day in Orlando (she lives in Tampa). I told her, that it would be great to have a day to rest at home before going back to work on Monday. So that's what she decided to do. Which meant, it was time for us to say out final goodbyes. :sad1: I really enjoyed the time we spent together, and was glad that Kim could see first hand how much fun DISers could be.

Day 3 - Sunday, June 7th

Sunday was one of the days I was looking forward to the most - Animal Kingdom! It was finally time to see the Yeti!

After seeing how slow the buses were, Kim and I drove over. We got there right before rope drop.

IMG_4774.jpg
IMG_4775.jpg

As we were walking towards the security (let us rumage through your bags), Candice called. She was right behind us! We were all suprised at how crowded it was. Then as we were going through the turnstiles, MainstMandy called to say she was behind us. So we waited for her and Eric.

IMG_4778.jpg
IMG_4779.jpg

YAY!!! Let the Fun Begin!

When we got our maps and schedules, we headed towards the rope drop. I told Kim that I liked this one the best. Well - we didnt even get to the bridge! It was PACKED!

IMG_4780.jpg
IMG_4781.jpg

It wasnt till after the ceremony was over, that we even got a glimpse of THE Tree!

IMG_4782.jpg
IMG_4783.jpg

Soon we were headed to Asia to ride Expedtion Everest, where we would meet up with Klofan and Antss.

IMG_4784.jpg
IMG_4785.jpg

Where are they? You see them?

MainstMandy was in charge of getting the fastpasses while we stood in line. However, the ride line was moving faster, so she jumped in line with us.

It was sometime between here and getting on the ride that S's Mom said she spotted me, and called me, but thought maybe it wasnt me! I am soooo sorry I didn't hear/see her! I was looking forward to meeting her. :guilty:

This would be Kim's first ride. Since she was nervous, I talked to her the whole time: "See, nothing's happening on this part . . . Look to your left, you can see the other parks . . . Now we're about to go backwards . . .AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH OHHHH LORRRRRRRRRRD"!!!!!!!!!!

Kim enjoyed the ride, and of course, my pic did look crazy, but my hands were shaking too badly to steal a shot of it!

Afterwards, we got fastpasses and headed over to the Safari. When we got to the Safari. The line ended AT entrance. But the sign said it was only about a 20min wait. I told MainStMandy that the sign was wrong - the wait had to be longer. . . Well about an hour later, we were boarding the vehicles.

IMG_4788.jpg
IMG_4786.jpg

This is where being in a group is nice: even though the line was hot, and I was sweating like a pop star in rehab, we had fun talking to each other. And we all LOVE Erick!

Soon we were on our way into the wilderness!

IMG_4789.jpg
IMG_4791.jpg
IMG_4793.jpg
IMG_4792.jpg

Candice must've been my good luck charm, cause I was able to get not-so-sucky-shots of the animals this time!

IMG_4796.jpg
IMG_4798.jpg
IMG_4800.jpg
IMG_4802.jpg
IMG_4803.jpg

I was very happy with my shots - even though I have yet to get one of the lions - and I was having a fun time!

IMG_4804.jpg

But then, we ran into trouble. We had to cross an old bridge, and it started giving under the wait of our vehicle!

WHEW! Fortunantly we survived!!! That was close!!! Glad I recorded the whole thing!

After such an exciting morning, we decided to relax a bit, and get some lunch at Flame Tree Barbecue. We all enjoyed our food, and chatted for awhile in the SHADE! AHHHH! Poor Antss though - the ducks loved her, and even nipped at her shorts!

Soon after we finished eating, the Nemo show was starting, so we headed over. The theater was PACKED and we barely made it in. I tried my best to not sing with Crush: "Go with the FLOW OH OH OH OH . . . " I love that part!

With Nemo and Dad reunited, we had to head back into the sun, and into yet more danger . . .

Now that we had cooled off during the Nemo show, we decided to head back to Everest!

IMG_4819.jpg
IMG_4818.jpg

IMG_4817.jpg

This time Kim needed no coaching and really enjoyed the ride. Surprisingly, she liked the backwards part the best!

We then followed the winding, shaded paths to DINO!

IMG_4821.jpg
IMG_4820.jpg

I guess the Dinos were mad at me taking these pics, and decide to get revenge. Because just as we were getting close to the ride, I thought I heard something . . . I looked back and . . . .

IMG_4826.jpg
IMG_4823.jpg

WHEW! Once again, I got away! But still, we all got on DINO!!!

We got to ride in the front row, and Kim screamed, hooped, YIPPED, OOOHed, the WHOLE time! It was so bad, that I LAUGHED the whole time, with tears running down my face! Which you can see in the ride photo courtesy of Antss . . . .

4672_1096468373467_1279340500_30287843_6437431_n.jpg

Sadly enough, Kim's horrorfied face is real - Antss is the only one posing! After laughing and looking at this pic a million times we headed out of the park, while MainSTMandy and Erick stayed behind. So next it was time for the tram ride back to our cars . . .

IMG_4828.jpg
IMG_4829.jpg

Little did we know, this would be one of the last times that Antss, Candice and Klofan would be smiling, for Klofan did not remember where he parked! They ended up looking for the car for over 30mins! So remember DISers, even though people may look at you strangely, TAKE A PIC OF YOUR PARKING SECTION!

Soon Kim and I were back in the room for a much needed break. Kim was sooo tired that she fell DEAD asleep. It was a fun, adventurous morning! Now what will the evening bring . . .

Go to Page 6, Post #80

Thanks everybody for De-Lurking! Now for some replies . . .

Wow that must have been 10 mad minutes of typing!
Funny! I only did the first part in that 10mins. then did the rest later Smarty Pants! :lmao:

Great installments Gmax... hurry up!! remember you don have your notebook...:p

I know - I'm trying my best to remember everything! I was just too tired in the evenings to write my notes for the day!

Great update! Looks like y'all had a great time at DHS, and a really full day! :thumbsup2 I'm glad you enjoyed the AI show. I doubt I'll be able to drag my boys to that next time we go. :sad2:
Come on - you know what to do, Split up! If you have another adult with you, go alone. You'll still have fun!

Fun updates!!! You were certainly having a good day at MGM (DHS). I have that same problem. Why is it so hard to call it by another name???? :confused3 Don't know why they had to change it anyway. I've only gone to Mama Melrose once & didn't think it was that great. That was a couple of years ago. I wasn't too bad, I just didn't like it. Too bad the waitress was sooooo rude! That wasn't very "Disney" of her, was it? :sad2: Your score on TSM was very respectable! :thumbsup2
Thank you! I was glad I beat her the 2nd time around!
I almost started to report that waitress!

i am not a fan of AI but was also suprised at how much fun we had..wish we had made it there again..we definitely have to do that again. that pic of you and rebecca on movie ride is still one of my favorites! and what the heck was antss and i doing when we first met up with you....can't figure that pic out??? :confused3
I dont know what you all were doing. I can't remember. The next time I go, I'll make sure to make time for AI!!!

Oh my gosh! My sister was stuck in the Emporium that night! She had no idea what had happened when the parade stopped!

I just wanted to say hi! I had read one other of your TR's before and then I found this one through Candace30's TR. I was there the same time as you for my birthday. Looks like your trip was a blast and can't wait to read more!

EDIT: Now I feel kinda silly. I didn't notice it was your birthday trip too! So Happy Belated Birthday!
HA! Thank you - and the same to you too! Too bad we didnt hook up. Next year I MAY go to a beach for my bday. Have you made plans yet?

Yeah Hollywood Studios used to be my favorite. I am such a movie nut and used to spend most of my time there when we first started to go to WDW. Now it is quite boring! As much as I love Toy Story Mania and the Idol show was cool it is so not a full day park anymore! They need to update SO MUCH! The Great Movie Ride (which made me fall in love with my favorite movie of all time - Casablanca), Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Muppets 3-D (Love me some Pepe!) and the Backstage Tour (Mostly Catastrophe Canyon!) all need updates! Especially the movie ride! With all the awesome Disney live action movies that have come out since it first opened, you mean they can't find one to update it with? I'd put Narnia in there somewhere personally!

We had a blast at the Star Wars weekends! When I was a kid it was my favorite! I even had a picture taken with Darth Maul and I NEVER voluntarily have a picture taken! The Idol show was very cool! I thought it's a fun addition!

I wanted to ask: Did you get a birthday button and if you did, did you wear it? I had so many CM's wish me happy birthday and I even got a few desserts free to boot! It was just a nice touch to the trip for me, because I don't really like to have any attention but this time I wanted it all!

Can't wait to read more!
YES! On my bday I had 2 buttons, so I wore one on the front AND back of my shirts!

As for MGM, they should be ashamed knowing how good Universal is. Seems like by now, they would've improved! Would be cool if they had something like the Spiderman and Mummy rides!

That's such a cute song! I got Brooklynn the Nemo Musical CD for Easter, and the girl knows every song. I imagine she'll be singing along when we see it again next month.

We then followed the winding, shaded paths to DINO!

IMG_4821.jpg
IMG_4820.jpg

I am glad you did not disappoint with your Dino pictures. You need all of these in a sequence frame so that you can see your many stages of fierceness at a glance!

I totally agree, always take a picture of where you parked, my family learned that the hard way. :headache: Thank goodness for the car alarm button, makes it a bit easier to find the lost car.

Antss sent me the link to your TR. We met briefly that Saturday night in th WS. I was with Ants, Angwill, and a couple others. This was my first chance to meet fellow Dis'ers and I had a blast. I remember you from Candice's TR. Just read your whole TR and now I am trying to remember what all I wanted to comment on. Love the video of the hotel lobby. The resort is beautiful.

I think we saw that guy leaving DHS that you took a picture of. I remember thinking he must have been extremely hot! We swung through DHS before dinner and Epcot that day.

I haven't really reserached AI, but now I want to check it out.

Oh, and I am also in the Tampa area. Looking forward to reading more.

Yay! Another great installment, chock full of helpful hints, too! The sports bra suggestion for Test Track was awesome! LOL I've never driven to the parks before, but will absolutely take a picture of my area/spot if ever I do. Heck, that idea will likely be used at other places as well. :thumbsup

Gotta love the single rider lines! DH & I use 'em sometimes and still usually end up together on the rides!

That Dino ride pic was HILARIOUS.

Yeah :cheer2:, another Glendamax report. I read your last two and absolutely loved them. My all time favorite is your report of the hot guys at DHS. The girls in my office loved that one the day I was reading it :rotfl2:.

In one of your post, you mentioned that you could see the other parks from Everest. I always look to the right so if I look to the left, can I see the others? Have you ever done Everest at night? If not, do so the next time you have a chance. My family did in November and the ride is wonderful at night and the view of the park is fabulous.

Look forward to the next update,
Erika

No plans for next b-day as of yet but my older sister is trying to plan a Halloween trip for next year. She wants some of our Disney lovin' cousins to go with us and we are trying to get our other sister, her husband and their son (our adorable nephew who is now 3 and LOOOOVVVVEEEESSS Mckey!) for his first WDW trip. I do think though if I do spoil myself with a trip it is so going to be in winter! The heat was so hard for us this last time (we're from the Chicago area and we had 50 degree days up until we left!).

I am such a movie nut it really depresses me they don't do more with that park! I had a blast with the Star Wars stuff but a geek like mee needs more! It's just sad comparing Universal to MGM.

okay so that's how i missed you. i had just gotten there saturday afternoon and was wore out. i went back to POP for a nap and met the gang in future world after they left you......pieces falling in place in memory now!

All those Disers!!! Fun!:thumbsup2:rotfl: The main lesson learned from this update.......if you're driving,
take a picture of your parking space!:rotfl:

I will be tuning in to read your report, I just found it. Love your TR's:banana:

Day 3 - Sunday - Part 2

Sunday's dangerous adventures left Kim exhausted. So during our break, she decided to skip dinner and sleep in the room. Klofan (Pete), Antss and Candice were next door at Jambo House, so they picked me up for dinner.
Tonight, we were heading to the Boardwalk resort area to eat at Cape May's buffet. We were a bit early, so we checked out the view, and chatted outside. That evening it was about 75 degrees, so I had my sweater in case they chose to freeze us in the restaurant!

IMG_4846.jpg
IMG_4845.jpg
IMG_4847.jpg
IMG_4848.jpg
IMG_4849.jpg

The Service and food were really good. And we actually got a kick at being able to draw on the table with crayons!

IMG_4851.jpg
IMG_4850.jpg
IMG_4852.jpg
IMG_4853.jpg
IMG_4854.jpg

I enjoyed my meal here, but I must admit that I still prefer Boma! Strangely enough, my favorite side dish at Cape May that night, was the mac and cheese on the kids's side. It was AWESOME! I could feel my arteries clogging, and my heart beat slowing down as I ate it! HA!!!

After we finished eating, we jumped in the car, and headed to Magic Kingdom (MK). On the way there, I called DISer LaMagique, who told me that she would be working in City Hall that night! So I was really looking forward to seeing her. Also, Kim called, and said that she would meet us there.

When we arrived at MK, I made sure once again to take a pic of our spot!

IMG_4855.jpg
IMG_4857.jpg

After arriving at the Ticket and Transportation Center (TTC), we decided to take the monorail. After it finally took off, it stopped, and the recording said that it would start up momentarily. Well, "momentarily" turned into a LONG while! The conductor then came on and said that a train was stuck ahead of us, so we would head back to the station to get on another train. Ughh!

Surprisingly we all squeezed on the next train and finally got to MK.

IMG_4858.jpg
IMG_4859.jpg
IMG_4864.jpg

It took sooo long for us to get there, that Kim had beaten us there, and was waiting in the Town's Square on Main Street. After looking through the crowd, we spotted her people watching . . .

IMG_4861.jpg
IMG_4862.jpg

IMG_4863.jpg

Hmmm . . . Who's that in the corner?

We then headed off to City Hall to see LaMagique! I even had my camera on to get some good shots! Well . . . she was on break? CARP! So we left a message, and decided that we would circle back later. We then headed back towards Main Street to take the obligatory Castle shots!

IMG_4865.jpg
IMG_4866.jpg
IMG_4869.jpg
IMG_4870.jpg
IMG_4867.jpg

And wouldn't you know it, it was then that LaMagique called to say that her break was over! However, since she was working till Park close, we decided to head towards Haunted Mansion, and catch her on our way out of the park.

As we were crossing the bridge, Antss pointed out that this was a great place to get castle pics . . .
