Day 4 cont.
On Monday, June 9th, after a LONG and much needed nap, I dragged myself out of the bed to go to the Animal Kingdom park for extra magic evening hours.
When we got there, the first line we saw for the EMH wristbands was LONG. Figuring that there had to be a shorter one inside the park, we kept going. We did see another one, but it was only slightly shorter. Finally after getting the wristbands, we headed straight to Expedition Everest. The line was long, but we figured that we would get in it anyway, and ride again after it got dark. Again, you all should be proud of me! I did not freak out, and had a great ride!
Afterwards, we headed to Dinosaur.
Now get ready for more nonsense. Fortunantly, since I did not get a chance to take notes throughout my trip, alot of the IGNORANT behavior we encountered has been forgotten. Maybe when MadiMouse posts, she can tell you some of it.
Well tonight on Dinosaur was the final and most upsetting event of the trip. The first thing that happened was during the pre-ride movie. While it was running, two women were having a conversation loud enough that would cause other people who have not heard it, to miss it. Nice.
Then, when the movie was over and the doors openned, MM and I started talking. As she was in mid-sentence she headed through the door. A family then pushed through the door - as if they were going to go in front of me. I kept walking. Now CLEARLY, if two BLACK women in a sea of WHITE people are together, and one walks through first, then let the other one through!!! They HAD TO KNOW WE WERE TOGETHER!!!
Well, as the family started to push through, I just kept walking while talking to MM. As a result, they slammed me into the left side of the door jam, and a child or 2 fell. Without breaking my sentence to MM, I stepped over the child, and kept walking behind her. The Mother then kept talking about how rude people were, and she couldnt believe it, loud enough for me to hear, but not REAL loud. The whole time MM was unaware of what was going on. I waited tilll after the ride to tell her.
At this point, I was glad that it was almost time to go home. I am convinced that people use their kids to get in front of people, and are horrified when it doesn't work. I am SICK of these people, and was ready to turn around and punch that woman in the face! I was soooo SICK of all the crap we endured that weekend. Alot of it I sucked up, because I know that SOME of them were just waiting to see what this six foot Black woman was going to do in response to their behavior. This is part of
Disney vacations that I hate: rude people, and racist people that go out of their way to get a rise out of me, and whomever I'm with. Sad that in such a magical, fun place, people can still be so ignorant.
After leaving Dinosaur, we headed back to Everest for a second ride, and it was dark! I wish that I was able to get pics of the mountain, but they wouldn't come out. It has a slight lavendar tint to it, and looks even more realistic! The little village surrounding Everest is lovely with all the lights. It's easy to see how this park, and other Disney parks, can be very romantic!
Well, DISers, you HAVE to ride Everest at night. It was a HOT MESS!!! Not being able to see the track was a TRIP!!!!! The backwards part was EXTRA dark since there was no sunlight comming in. We screamed as if someone was trying to KILL us on that ride!!! It was AWESOME!!!
When we headed into the shop, I had to get a shirt! I ended up getting a red one. But the line was long. They only had one CM in the store, and she was working the register. I guess Disney is REALLY trying to cut back!
After getting my shirt, we headed to Flame Tree Barbecue where I ordered 1/2 Slab of St. Louis Ribs served with baked beans and corn muffin ($8.99) and a Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade ($2.99).
The last time I'd eaten here was with DISer fakeRedhead in December. I remembered that we shared an order of onion rings, and suggested that we do the same, since they were really good.
We both really enjoyed our food. While we were eating, we marvelled at how nice the atmosphere was, with the lights, the decorations, and the piped in music. It was nice being at AK at night, without the blazing sun, and hoards of people!
It was during this time that we realized that we were in our last park of the trip. MM and I had a wonderful time. Remember, we'd only met briefly in December before comming on this trip. Being on vacation with her, was like being with an old friend. I can HONESTLY say, that she never made me angry, irritated me or made me regret being with her. The whole time, I was at ease. Again, it's really something how having Disney in common can bring people together. I told MM that I trully thank God for her, and this trip. I asked the Lord for someone I could travel with and a friend, and he gave her to me. I'm trully blessed!
After going back to AKL that night, we headed down to the bar to get some fruity drinks. The bartender put them in plastic cups, for us to take back to our rooms. MM bought my drink for me!
I thought it would be ultra cool to sit on the balcony with them since we had such a lovely view. But it was still a bit too hot, and I didnt want to get bitten up. Insted, I hooked my camera up to the TV and we watched all the pics and video clips from our trip.
When the clock showed that it was midnight, I said, "It's my Birthday"! MM jumped up on the couch, and start saying, "GIT IT GIT IT". And I started dancing!!!! We were so loud laughing and jumping around! What a great way to start my Official Bday on Tuesday, June 10th!!!!!
That night I went to sleep tired, but happy. This was trully a FUN time!
