So... I was glancing at ( aka shamelessly re-reading) menus for my upcoming WDW trip in November/December when I stumbled across a menu item I've never seen, or possibly never noticed, before.

Glazed Donut French Toast :eek::eek: At the Wave

Now, I can't have gluten, and I'm 99.9% sure they can't make this gluten free, but I'm still beyond curious. Is this a thing? Is it new? Has anyone had it? Is it like... a donut, french toast-ed? I'm intrigued.

I can't give you the answers you want. But I can say I am keeping an eye on this thread because I'm intrigued and it sounds delicious.

It's new at Disney, but I've made this as a special treat vacation breakfast for my kids for years when we're in Orlando. Take your few days old glazed donuts (when you won't eat them fresh anymore), slice in half, make a custard (eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla or orange juice if you have it), dunk and fry in a pan in a pat of butter. Serve with fresh strawberries, raspberries, and/or blueberries - whatever you have - for a delicious breakfast. No syrup needed b/c the glaze carries it all (also, you can keep sugar down in the custard for the same reason). It takes about 5 minutes of effort and almost no money...and it's amazing with coffee.

I've posted this breakfast vacation idea before...maybe Disney finally saw my idea as a use for their old donuts:)...

Think it's part of the decade old trend of doing just about anything to a poor innocent doughnut that never hurt a soul...;).
