I worked with someone who was separated from his wife and he started dating a friend of mine. She called me today to let me know that she was going to come by on Friday to pick up some stuff that he had left behind (name plate, pictures, etc). I told her that I nor the secretary was going to hand over that stuff to her since we do not have his permission to do so. Now she is hurt and a little mad at me - she can not believe that we are acting like this. I told her if the boss wants to give it to her, she could ask him when he comes back off of leave. My boss had said that we would hold it for the worker for when he comes back to attend his daughter's graduation, and at that time, we will give it to him-his daughter is too busy to come in and pick his stuff up at this time - like I said, it's not much! I figured it is just common sense that we not hand over his stuff to someone that is not part of his family. She may get over it but I'm thinking she probably won't!
