I need to find some new jeans today. Does anyone recommend a good brand? I run between 12 and 14 depending on the brand, but hate that muffin top - but I also want to avoid jeans that go up to my belly button!

I love Silver jeans, they are my favorite brand! I love most of the jeans at Maurices, they don't have the dreaded "mom Jean" look or feel to them.

Just a quickie from me! I baked all day long today and am exhausted. But now there are 10 different recipes of yummy goodies for Ruben to take in over the course of this week. I know his coworkers really enjoy it, so sucker that I am, I keep baking more and more for them. LOL



Anyway, Heather, and Kelly, sorry it won't work out for you to make it this trip. But I understand how things happen.

Today we are off to a local Christmas festival. Free crafts, Santa, booths selling yummy food, and tonight a Christmas lights boat parade.

Good morning, everyone! It's Monday again. But, this is the kid's last week of school before Christmas break so I am thrilled about that.

This time next week we'll be celebrating "Grinchmas" at Universal Studios in California! We decided to surprise Ruben's parents and come visit them for 3 days, next Sun through Tues. The minivan rentals were dirt cheap. NEVER have I seen prices so low. Usually the minivans run between $60-$70 a day here, but if I get lucky with Priceline I can get one for $35. Well, on Hotwire they had them for $23! Too bad we don't fit into a compact car, those were renting for $7 a day! LOL I guess it's just the down time before the week between Christmas and New Years. I checked prices for the week after Christmas and minivans were renting for $140 a day.

Anyway, we jumped on that deal right away. Then Ruben's mom told us for Christmas she wanted to get us the Costco 5-day passes to Universal Studios. (We'll only use one day, but the other four don't expire for 12 months.) I'm so excited. It's been forever since we've been to US. We used to have AP's when we lived in Burbank, so it will be fun to go back. The kids don't know any of this. It's going to be a surprise which is why I can't post this on Facebook.

So if all goes well, no one gets sick or the weather doesn't flip out on us, that's our plan to kick off the kid's holiday break.


I hope everyone is doing well. I'm sure there's lots of hustle and bustle going on with each of you as the countdown to Christmas marches on!

Where do you go to a boat parade in Vegas?

About 6 minutes from our house there is a man made lake. This video shows what it looks like:

I have removed Kelly/mom and Heather from the scavy hunt list. Like Beth said, after the holiday season, I will be pushing for more people to sign up...... This years Scavenger Hunt has a great theme and we have lots of fun surprises in store .

I love Lee 's Instantly Slims You line. Of course they don't instantly slim , but they fit well. I get them at Walmart. I have 3 different styles and I really like them all. I have a hard time getting jeans to fit because of my big tummy. But these jeans seem to be made for me. Not very expensive either.

I will also have my car so I can fit three of four other people (there is room for three in the back but I don't know how comfortable the middle seat is)

Also my trunk is pretty good size so there will be rooms for all the goodies we buy.

I can take 3 people, might be squished in back but it's a short drive.

DH and I had a great time at DL this weekend. We got there Friday night. It was really cold but Sat. was nice and sunny. I had my first Mickey waffle, but like my first churro it was just so so. Maybe it had been made up for a while, kinda hard and dry. Now all I need to try is the pretzel. DH had the BBQ for the first time and loved it. He ate and ate and ate.
I had the yule log, oh was that delish !!! Billy was in fine form, very funny. The weekend went by way too fast. If all goes as planned Sarah and I will go back on the 26th. I'm hoping the Christmas stuff goes on sale then. Does anybody know when? Oh, Candy Palace had lots of Candy Canes left. I put photos on Facebook.

I worked a full day today since we are in midterms week. I still have two finals to write for tomorrow. Better get on that...at least with ASL it is just me signing signs to them!

So we are celebrating Christmas at our house for the first time ever! My parents do not have time to decorate since they just spent a week in Arizona so we are now hosting. I am kinda excited. My mom wants to make Italian food, but that doesn't seem very Christmasy to me. I told her as long as there are meatballs involved, I am in!

Howdy all! I'm up to my ears in Christmas cards! The envelopes are all addressed and stamped, now I just have to write inside them all! EEK! The first batch of 20 or so has been mailed. Now I have about 40 left. Ugh. Went to do some Christmas shopping today and realized why I never wait until December to shop. There were NO men's brushed twill button down shirts in a size L in ANY COLOR or any long sleeve petite misses tees in anything but GREEN (the only color sis in law will NOT wear). Ugh. So tomorrow I take their CD/DVD list over to Best Buy and go that route. LOL His other sister still hasn't given anyone a list or ideas and I am tempted to buy her a big box of kitty litter. His mom has a hand written list on her refrigerator that I told hubby to look at on Thanksgiving. Did he look? Nooooooo. Grrrrrrr. Did I mention that all the shopping *I* have to do is DONE? And was done BEFORE THANKSGIVING? This is all for HIS family. Men. Sheesh.

I have a really huge favor to ask of anyone going to the parks close to Christmas or the first week of January..... I collect the pressed coins from DL and the Seasonal Nickels are a really big deal, but they are coming out later now than they used to (used to come out CP weekend, but last year they weren't out until after the 20th!). There will be a set of 3 on the DL side, and HOPEFULLY a set of 3 on the DCA side, but with all the construction over there, WHO KNOWS. Usually the ones on the DL side are in the Opera House where you exit Mr Lincoln. Anyway, I will be more than happy to mail someone the nickels plus $5 for quarters and your trouble. You can bring them to me at the Meet and Greet or I can included a SASE to send them back to me in. Please send me a PM if you think you can do this for me. I am watching parkpennies.com for an announcement as to when the machines go "on stage". Thanks!

Beth that is exciting about Universal. You guys should have a lot of fun. We went for 1 day last year and although it was raining and pretty yucky weather we still had fun with what they DID have. They cancelled a lot due to the rain but they have snow and the grinch was out and you could take pics with him and his dog. You could make xmas cookies and they have lots of fun characters and little skits.

Sarah thanks! My mom and dad are "supposed" to still take the girls on the cruise but since I am not going they will prob just come home when it is over. Although now I don't know if even THAT is going to happen because my dad just found out he has skin cancer and possibly melonoma. He had surgery yesterday to remove two large spots on his face and we get the test results end of this week or next. We are hoping that it is not something that will require chemo but if so I am sure the cruise will be off as well.

I too hope that I will be able to make it to one of the ladies trips in the future but at least for right now I don't think we will be making ANY trips for a long time.

Ok, so I am over the moon right now!!! My work just purchased a few weeks at a timeshare next to Disneyland called Peacock Suites. I have requested the week of June 24th - the trip is for 7 nights. We have never been able to stay more than 3-4 days because of hotel costs, so this is a huge blessing! The Saturday would be a blockout day, but we will be going to Universal since I haven't been since I was 12 and DH and DS's have never been.

Ok, so I am over the moon right now!!! My work just purchased a few weeks at a timeshare next to Disneyland called Peacock Suites. I have requested the week of June 24th - the trip is for 7 nights. We have never been able to stay more than 3-4 days because of hotel costs, so this is a huge blessing! DH and I had a great time at DL this weekend.

I would if we were there longer! We'll get in CA sometime Sunday afternoon, spend Monday at Universal and leave for home Tuesday morning. Just a quickie.

Does anyone know when Disneyland puts their Christmas stuff 50% off? We are hoping it will be on sale the 26th but I was thinking maybe not until the January 9th since the official holiday season runs through the 8th.

Vaguely recall 50% off on the 26th.. but that was 5 years ago or so.

Another option is to wait it out, go to Character Warehouse store in January and see what's left.
