Well ladies I am sitting in a hospital room with my son and DIL awaiting the arrival of my miracle grandson Pierce. :cloud9: :goodvibes:angel:
I have been here since 10.00am. Wrote out about 100 Christmas cards while waiting.:santa:

TTFN!

Congrats, Mel! Can't wait to see a picture!

Welcome, Melissa. I'm up in North County in Vista. I'm so glad you'll be joining us on the girls trip. You're going to have a great time!

Congratulations, Mel. Can't wait to see pictures of Pierce. Sending good thoughts to you and your family.

Congrats Mel!! What a wonderful xmas miracle!! So happy for you!

How exciting - a Christmas baby!!! Congrats, Grandma Mel :flower3:

Good morning, ladies!! TGIF!! And I'm sure for most of your kids it's the start of Christmas break. :cool1:

I am so excited. We are picking up the rental minivan tomorrow and heading out to CA early Sunday morning. The kids still have no clue. I just love being sneaky. ;)

I've read (most) of the past pages and think I know what I need to do:

1. Make hotel reservations (are there still people looking for roommates?)
2. Sign up for meals
3. Order a t-shirt

Anything else?

How do I find the facebook group? My facebook name is melissaaragon.

Thank you. Looks like a very fun group of ladies!

Melissa
Hi Melissa!! Welcome to the DIS Divas. :)

Welcome.gif

I think there are still a few looking for a roommate, so hopefully once they see your post, they will contact you. In the meantime, you might want to check out hotels and prices just in case. Mainly, our group is spread out between the Grand Californian hotel, the Carousel hotel and Hojo Anaheim.

Definitely you'll want to sign up for meals. Aside from good food, it's also a great time to mingle with everyone. Sign-ups for those run until Dec. 21. You can either post here, or PM me and I will add you to the lists.

If you'd like a purple tee from last year, you need to PM Melody/tinkermell. I'm honestly not sure if she's still accepting orders for that or not. As for our new hot pink tee, that information is still to be posted, so you are fine on that.

As Trudi mentioned, if you plan to attend the Meet and Greet, PM Capri/disney-super-mom and let her know. And if you want to participate in the Scavenger Hunt, PM Katie/Mamakate and sign up with her.

Other than that, I think you are good to go. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to either ask here on the thread and someone will answer them, or send me a PM and I will be happy to answer them for you.
:)

Morning ladies - shopping is done! Just have to mail one package (but it is very small and easy!). One more corporate party to go and then we can relax for the holiday season!

Melissa - a big

:welcome:

You will find this an amazing group of fun, wonderful women! Last year was my first time and I felt right at home. As Beth said, I think there are a few ladies still looking for roommates - check out the first page and you can PM them. Or ask a friend to come join you. Don't forget to sign up for the Meet & Greet and Scavy Hunt - they are great ways to get to know everyone!

Mel - congrats on the pending grandchild! Keep us posted!

Hope everyone has a magical Christmas and fun New Years!

Hi Everyone,

I found the posts on the facebook page about my questions regarding costs, etc. Thank you!

Even though I don't have the okay from my son's dad yet, I went ahead and booked my hotel room, because today was the last day for the rate I wanted. I got an awesome rate through travelzoo at the Red Lion Anaheim. Includes breakfast buffet and parking too. If anyone is interested, go to the travelzoo website and search in the So. Cal hotel deals area. You'll see it. Today is the last day to book under that rate.

I will for sure know by December 21st so I can get my dining reservations in. When is the last day to RSVP for the meet and greet?

Well, I am exhausted. :faint: 22 hours later and our grand baby finally made his way into the world around 5.00am this morning. Tiffany pushed for almost 4hours, and lost quite a bit of blood. They say that can happen when pushing so long. But they kept tabs on her and finally got her all cleaned out, and now she is resting in their room. Pierce looks like her side of the family, but you know how things can change. We are just extremely happy that he is healthy. :worship: Oh, and he weighs 7 pounds and 6 ounces, 19 1/2 inches long. :goodvibes

Melissa, there is still time to order a purple tee if you want. I am making my order on Monday. Look on the front info page for details. :goodvibes

I still need something special in the mail from a couple of you. :thumbsup2

Now I need to get serious about the pink tee. Be on the look out for more details soon! :cool1:

Bridget, Are you still in London? How absolutely wonderful! I remember freezing our fannys off, and always looking for some hot tea to warm ourselves. No wonder the British love their tea. It's part of surviving, and quite the comfort when your body needs a good warm up!

Where has Jessica been? I am getting concerned that she has not been around. :guilty::sad2:

Have a great weekend.

Congrats Mel!!!

Loving all the Christmas cards, four in my box today with a little surprise in one.. ohh cool!! :yay: Scratch scratch... I got a ticket! :thumbsup2

I totally agree that the current generation of children have been coddled, allowed to whine and try to weedle into getting everything they want and more. Not all, but many, many, more than in the past. :sad2:

Good preschool/child care staff tenderly push them to be better little citizens. Good teachers continue on the task to mold them into future adults. :teacher:
Can you imagine our future if ALL of them didn't stop being so whiny?!! EEEEK! The world would be a very scary place. :scared1:

Character Warehouse is not too far from Disneyland in Fullereton, we've gone on the city bus on past trips as the route passes right in front of the strip mall. Here is the website listing permanent locations and the temp ones http://www.ams-liquidation.com/listings.aspx

I think part of the problem, since my school is private, that the admin backs down because these parents are paying for their child to attend. I would love to see them attempt the pushing when their child get's into college.

I want to say that I think I know what you are talking about with the warehouse. Can you see it when you take i-5 south to Disneyland? Or maybe I am thinking of the Halloween warehouse...:confused3

Hi,

I'm so excited! My son's dad just approved our weekend switch and I have been granted my vacation request. So I will be joining you lovely ladies!

I will be there from Thu - Sun, staying at the Red Lion. I have no idea how to post my picture to this board.

I will attend the Thursday meet and greet. Capri, can you please PM me with your address and anything else I need to know about it?

I most likely will not be doing the scavenger hunt.

I do want to attend the shopping event at the cast member store. Who do I contact about that? I have an SUV so I can drive 4 other people, with plenty of room in the back for our merchandise.

I won't be ordering a purple shirt, but I will order the hot pink shirt when they are available.

I'm going to look over the restaurant menus this weekend and I will have all my meals posted by Monday.

I'm totally excited! My son's dad asked me why I needed to switch weekends with him. I told him because I'm going on an all girl trip to Disneyland for 4 days. He doesn't understand. :-) He already thinks I'm crazy for taking my son to Disneyland after Christmas. He thinks he's too young (he's almost 4). I think he's missed out on 4 years of me NOT taking him.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Melissa

Hi Melissa welcome!
Beth- have lots of fun! We are doing Grinchmas next year on our Christmas trip! I can't wait to see your pictures!
Mel- congrats on the new grand baby!
Kelly- Sorry about your dad, I hope everything turns out good for him.

I'm taking Kaeleb & Brooke to see Santa today! Then I'm off to finish my Christmas shopping?
2 1/2 days left of work! Then 10 days off! Whoo hoo'! I'm so excited!

Thanks Deb. He is supposed to get the test results this coming week so I just hope it is not bad news to ruin christmas. He is doing well though and his face is looking a lot better.

Welcome Melissa!!

Congratulations Grandma Mel :)

Having a "Miracle" daughter myself I totally understand the delight the parents must be having. Babies are wonderful. I am very happy he is healthy. You must be doing the --I am a new grandma -- dance. I just love my grandkids. They bring me such joy.

I think having grandkids is almost better then having your own children. We can spoil them as much as we want :).

again congratulations -- enjoy him every moment. I know you are grandma to other grand kids -- but there is just something about babies. :)

Patty

Hi ladies!

Just popped in to say good-bye! Ruben is off picking up the rental right now and then we are heading to SoCal tonight. The kids are still clueless. :lmao: :yay:

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I will be updating the dining lists when I return on Tuesday night, or Wednesday morning. So if you've posted here or sent me a PM, don't panic if you don't see your name added. Well, don't panic until after Wednesday at least. ;) Thanks.

Have a great weekend everyone! And Deb, I will take lots of photos to share with you.

See y'all later!!! :goodvibes

Have fun Beth!

All of my Christmas cards to the Diva's are on their ways....and half of the ones to family and friends. Please feel special that yours went out first :rotfl: There is even a special piece of mail for Mel on it's way...;)

I just printed my boarding passes for tomorrow...in 24 hours I will be flying to Disneyland! woo hoo!

Ok, so have any of you read The Dark Side of Disney? I bought in on my kindle and read it in a day. While there are some things I would NEVER do at DL or WDW, it did give me some tips-like renting points. Next Christmas, DH and I will be taking the kids to WDW and are starting the planning process. I know DIS has a board for renting DVC points, but before I go over there to the strangers, I thought I would ask here first. Does anyone have points that they would be willing to rent to us for next Christmas? We are thinking of going for a week between December 17th and January 1st. I am pretty sure it is an 11 month window, but it's never to early to check, right?:confused3

Jen: I wish I had points to rent you--unfortunately (or fortunately) I tend to use all of mine!

Just a clarification--if a member you are renting points from is booking at their HOME resort it is 11 months. If you want to stay at a resort other than the member's home resort you can only book 7 months out. It depends on what home resort the member has--not whether they are renting points or not.

You might look into David's Vacation Rentals too--stacielee used them before she bought DVC and had a good experience. They rent DVC points--she stayed at Saratoga Springs (my home resort in Florida).

Thanks for that info :) I read about David's and it looks like they charge a bit more to use points, but I will keep them as an option if renting direct does not work. :)

Melissa - so glad you got the okay to come on the trip!

Mel - congrats on the new arrival! :littleangel: And yes, I am home from London. It was surprising nice weather - only one night of light rain. In fact, it was colder the first few days I got home than in London!

Beth - hope you are having a great time!

Jen - have fun in DL!

We are off to New Hampshire so should have a real white Christmas!

Hope everyone is either done or almost done shopping!:santa:

Hard to believe that one week from tonight, Christmas will be over. Just finished shopping yesterday except for DH's stocking which I will pick up throughout the week during normal errand runs to Target, etc. Still doing Christmas cards. The Diva cards went out first, then our cards going out of state, Saturday I sent out those going to So Cal and now I'm finishing up the Nor Cal bunch. At least everyone should get one before Christmas. LOL

This week is wrapping and baking. Today's fun is cleaning the roof gutters. I know, you're all jealous. LOL

Good morning ladies !

Well, I am exhausted. :faint: 22 hours later and our grand baby finally made his way into the world around 5.00am this morning.

Congratulations!! I'm so excited for the both of them (and you) since it took a lot for the little bundle of joy to get here . Please post pics when you have time (which I know you're short on ;)).

Oh, and I'll be sending you an email in a little bit. I got your Christmas delivery and you are so sweet :flower3:.

I have some extra ones right now, but we keep going back and forth on going to WDW next year or to wait until Laila is 4???

But Cheryl is correct that members can book their home resorts at 11-months and then at 7-months they can try to book at other resorts. I own at Animal Kingdom and Saratoga.

Also so you know, the time frame you are planning on going is the highest point season.....that is why Laila will never go to WDW on her actual birthday (Dec. 29th) because I like to get the most use out of my points as I can.

I missed saying adios to you, but I hope you all are having a great time right now :yay:.
