Hi Ladies!
Happy Holidays to all. I am feeling the spirit for sure. Also the stress! My shopping is all done, except for watching the sales and returning and repurchasing if it is worth it:thumbsup:thumbsup2 I refuse to bake this year as I do not need to temp any of us with all those extra calories. I mean we are getting them anyhow with all the sharing people do:)
My big news is that I am officially back to work selling Real Estate. I am very excited about it, as I always really loved what I did, before I went into the corporate management side of things. I thought that I was going to go back where I had managed, but the corporate folks just were not willing to pay me the split I thought I deserved. Funny enough, the place I signed with are paying me way more than I asked my previous company for. I am taking that as a sign that I am meant to move on.
But all that and the last week of school, preparing for choir presentation, boy scouts, etc etc have kept me pretty busy and I am way behind on things.

My new real estate company is have a big conference in Vegas Feb 22 and 23rd. I am trying to figure out how to swing that into a precursor for the ladies trip. Maybe if I can sell a house between now and then:)
Wish me luck!

Oh, Beth! Universal sounds really fun. Great way to start the holiday off. I hope you have fun.

Kelly, hang in there. Things are sure to turn around.

That's all I can remember...Oh, Thanks so much to Beth and Laurie who surprised me with a Christmas card even though I didn't sign up this year. I was afraid that I wouldn't get them mailed out on time. I still have not sent a single card, but am almost ready to. Anyhow, it was a lovely surprise and you are both just too thoughtful! PS Those are the only two cards I have so far:)

Well, take care everyone. I'll pop back in when I can.
Tracey

Beth that is exciting about Universal. You guys should have a lot of fun. We went for 1 day last year and although it was raining and pretty yucky weather we still had fun with what they DID have. They cancelled a lot due to the rain but they have snow and the grinch was out and you could take pics with him and his dog. You could make xmas cookies and they have lots of fun characters and little skits.

Sarah thanks! My mom and dad are "supposed" to still take the girls on the cruise but since I am not going they will prob just come home when it is over. Although now I don't know if even THAT is going to happen because my dad just found out he has skin cancer and possibly melonoma. He had surgery yesterday to remove two large spots on his face and we get the test results end of this week or next. We are hoping that it is not something that will require chemo but if so I am sure the cruise will be off as well.

I too hope t hmethat I will be able to make it to one of the ladies trips in the future but at least for right now I don't think we will be making ANY trips for a long time. :(
Kelly, I hope everything turns out good for your Dad. Please tell your Mom, that I am thinking of her and keeping your family in my prayers.

So quiet here...Is anyone still going to the Surf's Up breakfast? I am hoping there are more than two of us left

I need to find some new jeans today. Does anyone recommend a good brand? I run between 12 and 14 depending on the brand, but hate that muffin top - but I also want to avoid jeans that go up to my belly button!
Jen, My favorite brand of jeans are "Not Your Daughter's Jeans." Kind of pricey, but boy they fit great. Also another brand to try would be "Paige or Page." My DD and best friend have a pair and they fit nicely. DD Kaitlyn found hers at Nordstroms Rack, but she said Marshalls has them too quite often. Anywhos, the next time I look for jeans I want to give them a try. Good luck!
Hi all,

Unfortunately I won't be able to make the trip due to a conflict with things happening at work.

I will be thinking of you all while I am in Toronto in the freezing cold/dark weather.

:(

Heather
Heather, Sorry things didn't work out for you.
Hopefully you can join us the next time.
:goodvibes

That is weird that holiday pennies are not out yet...

They used to go onstage for Candlelight weekend, but last year they didn't show up until right around Christmas day. One would think they would try to have them out for CP weekend since the park is so busy and they could sell more of them. It's just a waiting game now.

My mom and I plan to go the day after Christmas so we can check for you. :)

Does anyone know when Disneyland puts their Christmas stuff 50% off? We are hoping it will be on sale the 26th but I was thinking maybe not until the January 9th since the official holiday season runs through the 8th. :confused3

Thanks, Sarah - I'm sending you a PM!

I'm going to be in the craft room most of the day today. Have taco stew/chili in the crock pot. Must. Finish. Christmas stuff. LOL Toodles!

Thanks so much Tracey and Mel.

And Mel we still want the shirts for this year. I know we already paid for the purple ones but I didn't want you thinking since we aren't going that we didn't want the shirts. I made that mistake last year and will not do it again!! I agree with the gals last year who got one eventhough they weren't going. You do an AMAZING job and I want one even if just to wear on a future trip or just around!! :)

Another option is to wait it out, go to Character Warehouse store in January and see what's left. :thumbsup2
Where is this?! popcorn::

I finished giving my finals today! Tomorrow is a day off and then I will pop in Friday for a short bit. My boss wanted to talk to me today about some comments he heard from my students and some parents - none of it good, so I am a little bummed. Apparently one of my ASL 1 students doesn't find the material relevant and is bored, it is my fault when Deaf people do not show up for Deaf Socials that Deaf organizations put together, and I should not expect my English students to understand how to write a paper even though I have reviewed it numerous times and given handouts. Needless to say, I left the meeting dejected and frustrated. My boss told me I need to take the resposibility on myself, but I am not sure how to do more than I have been doing. Ugh! I am so glad we have two weeks off. 5 more days....5 more days till Disneyland....that is my mantra....

*HUGS* Jen. I disagree with your boss. You should expect your English students to understand how to write a paper. I hate when people don't take the responsibility where it truly lies (the individuals themselves), seems like everyone is looking to blame someone else.

As far as one of your students being bored, is it an ASL an elective? Did the student choose the class or was it chosen for them? To me it sounds like the kid is whining but what's worse is that he/she has an audience that brought their 'whine' to the school and they listened to it.

Sorry for the rant but in general kids are being coddled, when in reality (to me anyway) they need to adapt, overcome, and move on.

I hope you have a great time at DL. :)

Thanks, I appreciate that. ASL is sort of an elective. They need to take two years of a language. Many students want to play games daily which is not possible - I hope that is not the reason for the boredom. As for English,
they expect me to do everything I can to support them and give them grace when needed. I correct every error on every paper even if it means that their papers are covered in red ink - so they can learn the rules of writing. If students are really struggling, I will sit down with them and discuss how to improve their papers. All of this is too mean, I guess. huh :confused3 I will have to figure out another method if this is not working for the school....

Disneyland is going to be awesome. The potential crowds worry me - MouseWait has shown low attendence this week, but with vacations starting this weekend I am sure it will pick up. Hopefully with FP's it won't be so bad.

I agree with this 1000%. It's amazing how parents coddle their kids. Then they get to my house and it's, "if you are able to do something on your own then you DO IT on your own. Lots of whiny kids these days. They want to hand things to me at clean up time. I tell them, I'm not the book shelf, I'm not the toy box ,etc.

Hi Everyone,

I am seriously considering going on this trip. Is there still time to do so?

I'm a newbie to this board and will be getting my first annual pass at the end of this month. I am 38 years old and live in San Diego (La Mesa). I am a single mom with a 3 year old son. We are both getting annual passes to Disneyland, but I think this trip would be a great way for me to enjoy Disneyland on an adult level.

I just need to get my son's father to agree to switch weekends with me before I can commit to anything.

I've read (most) of the past pages and think I know what I need to do:

1. Make hotel reservations (are there still people looking for roommates?)
2. Sign up for meals
3. Order a t-shirt

Anything else?

How do I find the facebook group? My facebook name is melissaaragon.

Thank you. Looks like a very fun group of ladies!

Melissa

Loving all the Christmas cards, four in my box today with a little surprise in one.. ohh cool!! :yay: Scratch scratch... I got a ticket! :thumbsup2

I totally agree that the current generation of children have been coddled, allowed to whine and try to weedle into getting everything they want and more. Not all, but many, many, more than in the past. :sad2:

Good preschool/child care staff tenderly push them to be better little citizens. Good teachers continue on the task to mold them into future adults. :teacher:
Can you imagine our future if ALL of them didn't stop being so whiny?!! EEEEK! The world would be a very scary place. :scared1:

Character Warehouse is not too far from Disneyland in Fullereton, we've gone on the city bus on past trips as the route passes right in front of the strip mall. Here is the website listing permanent locations and the temp ones http://www.ams-liquidation.com/listings.aspx

:welcome: Hi Mel ! Looks like you've got everything covered except for signing up for Thursday evenings Meet and Greet and Sat.'s Scavenger Hunt, if you plan to do those. The M&G is a great way to get to know everybody.

I'll try to find you on FB and add you to the group thingy....not sure how, but I'll try :upsidedow.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful welcome. I'm a member of the facebook group now too.

Now I just need to clear the weekend with my son's dad and I should be good to go.

If I do go, I will be staying from Thursday - Sunday.

Anyone still looking for a roommate? I'm a non-smoker and I don't snore.:)
